I really like how Catchpole basically ignores most hyped up cars that would bring the views for the rally cars (and a few others) just because he believes they are as cool or cooler (which they probably are).
Sorry for walking past the Quattro! (But there is an entire film with me driving one already on the Carfection channel - it has an interview with Stig, details of the PDK ‘box, historic footage, the lot. Go and check it out if you haven’t seen it).
After being left open-mouthed by the wonderful Singer DLS at Goodwood a few years ago, I would love to be able to see the Turbo Study. It looks superb here and in pictures.
That 6R4 is an 8R4 - it was apparently there in 2017 too. Surprised Henry didn't know that, given his love of rally cars but to be fair, I don't think anyone would know unless they looked very closely (or read the paddock sign). I didn't even know the 8R4 existed until I Googled it to see if the sign was a typo!
Thanks for showing us the cars we want and need to see.👌Not just HyperCars and EVs! You know your baller when your seats are made from the largest land animal 🐘
I was at Goodwood yesterday and if anyone is wondering what was making that cool engine revving behind Henry at the end of the video, it was Porsche's new Le Mans Hypercar (hidden inside that tent) which they are unveiling tonight. You couldn't see it but could definitely hear it haha Also, thank you for stopping to have a quick chat Henry, it was very nice to meet you!
Thanks again for Henry and Carfection. It's a good time to point out that Goodwood has a RUclips channel when they live-stream the whole event! So you can see the cars going up the track. But I don't think they have anything like this where you get to see the paddock. Some folks agitated about Henry skipping the "big deal" cars, but I think that was kind of the point for this video: highlight some things that are a bit more obscure, rather than the obvious stuff everyone's seen already (and I say that as a fan of Subaru and old-school Audis). Oh, and please don't start doing the soyjack face for the thumbnails. Next thing you know, the videos will be sponsored by Raid: Shadow Legends 🤦♂
"Hello" from Prince Edward Island, Canada. The "Unbridled Enthusiasm" demonstrated in this video seems a big out of character for you, Mr. Catchpole. You look a bit like a the proverbial kid-in-a-candy-store. It makes me want to go next year. Thank you.
The differentials are active. As in, actively controlled by computer software, rather than passive like a clutch-type limited slip or Torsen differential.
Not a 22B, that's a street car, he walked past a GC WRC (pedantic, I know, but there's a bit difference). I think for this video he skipped the "obvious" stuff that everyone already knows about (Audi S1, Subaru WRCs, etc) to highlight some of the more obscure stuff that most petrolheads would still love to see.
That thumbnail is disappointing for this channel. I hope you're not trying to become a typical "RUclipsr". Your content is good enough that you don't have to resort to clickbait tactics.
1:35 Ehm,... I think you missed something there! My knowledge of Group B is very limited, but for true fans of the show, isn't it that walking past a Quattro without comment is like ignoring the Queen and be totally hyped for Prince Charles?
Noooo! Henry dont do the RUclipsr face for the preview image. Its so off-brand for the channel. Screw the views. There must be a better way to get the clicks that's on-brand
Why was the incredible power of the electric motor hidden from society for so long ,before the boom it was milk floats golf carts and g wiz then strait to 2000 hp
Because the battery tech was nowhere near capable, so companies didn't dump money into engineering a better electric motor when you'd only get ~50-100 miles of range out of thousands of pounds of batteries.
@@jsquared1013 well maybe a bit but i think it’s more economy is being spoonfed to us and the public is manipulated into believing it wants that consumption more than the other way around, like huge wheels the journalists always said it’s the consumers that push for it but it’s just more expensive on tire changes destroyes the ride and subquenaly the car as it shakes itself to bits is probably more responsible for car growth and therefore price than people think and I don’t remember asking for it!

Henry Catchpole, you’re simply the best all round auto journalist and presenter in a mag, book or any form of screen.
Keep it up!
I really like how Catchpole basically ignores most hyped up cars that would bring the views for the rally cars (and a few others) just because he believes they are as cool or cooler (which they probably are).
This is the thing about Goodwood. There's something for everyone and he touched on them all. Past, modern and future
Talks about some of the most exciting cars...
Walks straight past the Quattro
@@smirkingrevenge6 Because we've already seen it so often probably
Some folks will agree, some won't, which is how humanity works and why the middle of the road sucks.
Tbf that Bugatti type 57 is probably worth more than most of the typical hyped up cars on youtube
Sorry for walking past the Quattro! (But there is an entire film with me driving one already on the Carfection channel - it has an interview with Stig, details of the PDK ‘box, historic footage, the lot. Go and check it out if you haven’t seen it).
Thanks guys. From an American this is really appreciated

I believe someone has driven either a 6R2, or 4R2 in National events....
Only spotted this afterwards - I confess I had no idea that an 8R4 existed. Sums up Goodwood Festival of Speed really!
wait... you just walk by that Quattro.... lol dude 😃
My 1st Mtb was a Muddy fox Roadrunner .. still have a pic of it !! and still working in the industry now 35 years later :)
Did he just walk past an Audi quatro group b car?!? That shows how much is there at Goodwood 😂
...! Just passed it without saying a word 🤦🏽♀️ !!??!!, Can't believe that 😆
Well he has driven it.... On this channel 😂
Well i mean it was sitting next to the two cars that absolutely destroyed it in period so...
Yes he did shame on him. Walking the car that really git Group B going
I love how pissed off people are getting at the thumbnail lol
That Singer is just stunning
those guys mastered the art of modifying most of the car with casuals struggling to spot what was changed (on the outside at least).
Wonderful video from Henry (as always).
My highlight from the Friday FOS was meeting Henry in the Chapel pits.
It is such a unique event. What a pleasure to watch your video about it from a foreign country.
Haha, the Singer side intake looks very good! Never liked this black fender protection foil on 911 G-Modells but now it makes Sense!😉👍
Thanks for showing us the cars we want and need to see.👌Not just HyperCars and EVs! You know your baller when your seats are made from the largest land animal 🐘
Carfection, killing it as always!
What people also don't realise is the turbo 16 used an xu8. The zx and xsara both used essentially that engine too (xu7 and xu10)

The P1 is beautiful - wow!
Love the Le Mans winning Porsche RSR complete with squashed flies !!!
Was lovely to briefly meet you yesterday at Goodwood Henry. Keep up the great work!
Need more of that Singer!
There is a Bentley Brooklands parked behind Henry when he is showing Dakar Hilux. Just about the coolest car there is IMO.
Great whistle stop tour Henry. Loved it👍
I live in the US in Alabama but I do plan on making it to a FOS at some point in my life. It always looks like such an awesome event.
it would be very much worth it, unforgettable event 👍
@@adplays7261 I hope to make it in the next several years.
Isn’t the 992 GT3RS also going to be introduced at Goodwood
Probably later today or Saturday.
That Singer Turbo study! Just wow! Want one!
So glad to here u say "Not convinced about formula E", neither am i.
Maybe I misunderstood what Harry meant about the P1 designer but didn't Frank Stephenson design the P1?
The Singer, was, for me as a Porsche nut, exquisite engineering.
It amazes me that such a big channel and does not have a camera stabilizer, it hurted my eyes
I saw Henry at the festival last year. That was my highlight
I had that zx dakar rally rocking camel (no pun intended) colors when I was a kid as a toy car
Straight to the rally paddock. Always the sign of a proper petrol head.
Catchpole is king, I expect great things
I was there Saturday, but next year I will be going for two days. There is so much I missed, just not enough time in one day to see it all.
A great British summer tradition.
When can we have the hour long extended cut please?

Very cool man, we need to go for a coffee and a drive.
P1 Spider..
I promise I will be good this year Santa
Ohhh, thanks for the reminder to look for newly posted GFS videos on RUclips.
It’s on my bucket list to attend 👍🇦🇺
Love from Taiwan 🇹🇼
Likewise on the childhood want of a Muddy Fox 👍🏻
I'm gonna need video, and more importantly audio, of that MG Metro 8R4 STAT! There's no videos of it on RUclips. Henry please make it happen!
What an event
Worst click bait shocked face ever

I ache for that Singer...
Some nice catches there Mr Catchpole
As ever Henry, great vid. But couldn't help but get distracted by the background music. Whoever picked it👍Anyone know the name of it?
What about the Audi s1 Rallycar?
Great video as usual - not a fan of the thumbnail though!
6:46 Eddy Grant would be proud.
Mani wish I was there to see all the machines.
Who wouldn't rather have a Ruf CTR Anniversary?
They got the banners of the wrx and Citroën xcarra mixed up
I've got an Audi quattro.. which we know reset the rally world in the 80's -rest history.
The singer porsche is car heaven on 4 wheels
Henry, please please pretty please, now for the 1 hour long video. For us poor souls from the other side of the world.
What does fully active means?
The differentials are active. As in, actively controlled by computer software, rather than passive like a clutch-type limited slip or Torsen differential.
Is that Porker duck egg blue?
He's 6 foot 5 ?
P1 just doesn't look right as a Spider
It’s not a 6R4 it’s actually an 8R4.
6:35 Believe me, it does not only look dangerous, it is dangerous.
Please for the love of Clarkson, don’t do open gob clickbate thumbnails. You’re too good for that crap.
3:46 ... there is a Citroen in the place of Subaru
And next to it there is a Subaru in place of the Citroen. They mixed those two cars and probably are too lazy to move them lol.
How did he just ignore the Audi at 1:38??
You guys are above the stupid "influencer" thumbnails.
Oh please Henry don't do the " :O thumbnail thing " I beg you....just ....don't.......
just walks past a 22b... bro

weird white sky
That Ford Escort RS1700T is the perfect example of Ford mismanagement with their rally programme.
Great job Henry! Thanks for reporting for me!
Subaru you have been snubbed. :)

Background music annoying ngl
Noooo, Carfection has entered the clickbait face thumbnail train. Still like the content tho
5:09 that Rowan F1 is own by Bin Laden's nephew now i think. Unless it changed hands again.
People in the comments can't take a joke
…..moving past all the Subarus……..
Talking about highlights, But dont Go to bmw m. Shame on you

Why do youtubers always make stupid face for their videos? It's really annoying to me.
Yo, Henry do you hate doing the stupid faces as thumbnail, as much as Matt does? :D
Just walk past all the Subarus like they’ve never amounted to anything in rallying? Really? Could you be more of a European and British snob?

Yeah ...not gonna watch it cos of "shock face"
Went yesterday, was great. Only disappointment was all the electric cars going around the Hill Climb. Absolute yawnfest.
👎for completely ignoring the most Iconic Subaru rally cars
