      Its a smart move. Even top level chess doesn't really pay well unless you've got a lot of side channels to monetize it (Ie Magnus and sponsorship deals, or Hikaru and youtube income), and that hasn't always been an option for chinese players. And he hasn't yet proven he can hit the Magnus or Hikaru level of fame. So having a plan B is a smart move (And chess dudes usually are great at math, so a business qualification is definately a sound move)

    Its impossible to calculate something complicated as this game if you are not Super GM so many slightly different moves and yet you totally mess the entire position, this got to be one of most complex attacking game I watch in year or two. Even if some of the moves was forced maybe 5 or 6 still hard to see in such depth.

    Wow. What a game! Thanks for making this video about Wei Yi, Levy ! One thing I noticed about his games during the Tata Steel tournament is his imagination and creativity -- esp. in the opening (throwbacks and/or sacrifices galore!). This man is truly a genius! Can't wait to watch him in future games! He could be the next world champion from China!

    I've actually been following Wei Yi not long after I started playing chess (3 years ago). Unfortunately, I started following him at a time when he never played and was just gone from the chess scene. I started following him due to his attacking style of chess. You can call any top player like Hikaru, Magnus, Ian an aggressive or tenacious player, but not Wei Yi, He's literally an embodiment of the word attack in chess. I became a fan after watching his win vs. Alireza in the junior blitz 2019.
    He and Boris Spassky are the two players I would call my favourites.
    I'm happy he's finally getting the attention he deserves and Him finally getting back to the chess scene. I'm looking forward to his future games!

    c4 was the second best move with M9. Qf7, which Wei Lee played gets M8.

    Later, Wei Lee had an M4 opportunity with g4+, but did the M10 option.

    'Gem of the chess world' is a very well said phrase. After watching his immortal game in 2015, I really want to see more of him in action and even held the notion that he would one day become the world chess champion. That is something left to be seen as at his age, it is still technically possible,. But for the time being, we can only wait unabatedly while enjoying the masterpiece churn out by him.

    Why was the engine showing 0 when the queen check happened after the rook sac, if whatever move you make after as black then turns into mate or large white advantage? Is it just engine depth thing?

  • @wyattseals3251
    @wyattseals3251 3 месяца назад +6

    When black had only 3 moves and the only one not leading to mate was Ke6, I couldn't figure out why the evaluation jumped so much... like if those are the only moves, why was it equal before? So I ran analysis on the position and found out Stockfish just didn't realize yet how winning the position really was for white. So that makes TWO TIMES in this game that Wei Yi found a winning line before Stockfish did. Wow!
