Repetitive strain injuries are a serious thing to be wary of, folks. Take care of yourselves, and if you ever feel an RSI developing in your wrists/arms, don't ignore it. Pull back from what's causing the pain immediately. Take care, Piemations :< Your cartoons are amazing, but your health is more important.

I wish we were taught better as artists about what to do to avoid health problems down the line. I thought I was invincible against the back, wrist, head pain until I got older. Now it ****ing sucks. Especially when drawing/entertainment is your job and not something you do just for fun.
That said, animating anything for Piemations is seriously such an honor. The comedy is just so good, and Mike is legit amazing to work with. ⭐

I think the best way to keep Sheriff Hayseed going is to try and workshop it around with various animators/animation teams and see if someone want to help out with it. With the current rise in indie animation on youtube, I don't think it's unreasonable to hope that someone likes your ideas enough to want to help you make them come to fruition, especially since you've been around the animation scene for a long time and are well known.

I'm in my late 20s and I have hand/wrist problems that I've been told will persist my whole life and I just have to life with it. As an artist and a crafter, I understand how much of a bummer this is for the future.
I hope you recover well. One thing I learned was definitely work slower and take breaks or stop when you begin to feel pain again. Not being the speed you used to be definitely can suck, but it's something that can be managed and worked around! You just have to figure out what works for you!
It's good to hear though, that you don't plan on giving up! When you're ready, keep creating. Get better! ✌️✨️

I've been dealing with some pain in my left wrist and arm for the past 10 years or so, and for the most part I was able to shrug it off, but I'm 31 now and a recent spike of pain in my shoulder that lasted two weeks was kind of a wakeup call to actually start taking this seriously.
The three things I'm doing to combat this now are:
    1. Buying a better chair
    2. Exercising to correct poor posture
    3. Taking it easy
I've only had this new chair for a week now but it's been a godsend so far. It has adjustable armrests both in height and angle, so whether I'm sitting up straight or leaning back, I can comfortably rest my arms on something that won't mess with my shoulders, which was my issues with my last chair. Ideally at some point in the future I'll get an adjustable desk so I can really dial in the perfect height, or switch it to a standing desk if so desired. I've also always been a heavy guy who's neglected his health and I've been working to correct that. Strengthening my core/abs and back muscles will hopefully go a long way to help with my posture, because I'm a sloucher and I always tend to lean way back in my chair. And altogether I'm just trying to take it easy now. Easier said than done for me, someone who plays too many video games, rather than you, a full-time animator, of course. Hope everything works out for you!

Did you ever consider pitching Sheriff Hayseed to a TV network or streaming service? Having the resources of a TV a network or major streaming service would probably solve the workload problems, as you could pay other people to draw backgrounds or story boards. I mean, it wouldn’t solve “the variety of creative difficulties Sheriff Hayseed gives me that makes it generally unfulfilling”, although maybe another writer or 2 would help with that, but still. I know there’s nothing I can do if you don’t want to make Sheriff Hayseed at all anymore, but I for one, after getting into Sheriff Hayseed _today,_ hope that there is some kind of future for the project.

Damn, man. I'm an animator as well and ran into the exact same issue you did about 8 years ago or so. I consider myself fortunate. I didn't have pain, but just a dead arm and numbness in part of my hand. I went in to the clinic and they said I had carpel tunnel. So, they gave me a brace just like you have, and put me on a steroid, that actually worked. I remember going to sleep one night during that week of medication, and all the sudden the feeling just rushed right back into my hand again. I went and saw a physical therapist and did some exercises and about 6 months later or so, I no longer needed that brace. I keep doing the exercises here and there to keep it from coming back and it's still doing alright. I wish you the same luck. I know how important our limbs are for this work!

@@Gornemant The problem (if it is the same as mine ) Is not physicall in a sense of broken bones or similar physical damage. The muscles simply can't handle being overused / strained at the same posture for long periods of time.
They will start to hurt chronically if you do it over and over again.
It starts with an uneasy wrist feeling and will gradually become worse till it hurts like you bent your wrist in the wrong direction.
It sometimes burns a bit as well.
That problem can occure if you overwork your wrist with manual labor or heavy machinery that vibrates.

Listen, if you have to take a break, that's alright. I've broken a leg before, and doing anything with severe pain feels like the most hellish thing possible. While I don't know how bad the wrist pain is, and although wrist pain isn't the same as breaking a bone, but from my own experience with breaking a bone, it's best to take a break from certain things and try to use that part of your body with severe pain less, so it can have time to heal and so you can go back to doing things again like how you used to.
You are a man who made some of the best RUclips masterpieces ever made in all of it's history, and I'm sure that you've endured quite a lot so far. If you need to take a break to do better again, do it. Don't feel bad having to take a break to heal, cause sometimes, it's better to take a break & attempt to do things again later on, rather than to continue on & risk making it worse. Nothing is more important than your own well-being. *NOTHING.*
    Continue to do good, man!

As a person who has suffered from repetitive stress injuries (I crochet for anxiety and I have a LOT of anxiety), I would like to say that I will continue to support your channel until your final video. All your content is worth the wait so please take you time and rest. If you continue animating and your pain worsens, it may be good to find another source of motivation and inspiration. I would hate to hear that you are causing yourself pain in order to keep making content for people like me. Listen to your body and let your actions be lead by researching yourself. I have acknowledged the fact that I will eventually loose mobility in my hands due to crochet but I will continue to pursue my art until that happens. If you take the same approach as me, I wish you a long approach to the inevitable. 🧡

I had scar tissue build up in my left wrist, to the point it got hard and sat on some nerves/tendons, causing severe pain. At first they thought it was a cyst, but the MRI showed otherwise. Surgery was needed and it took me about 3 months to a functional state again. I got the surgery back in September, it does get better with the passing day. At first I couldn't even type fully or play video games, now I can do that, but there is still weakness in that wrist. Could be up to a year to fully recover.
I hope you make a full recovery and I can't wait to see what you got cooking when you're fully back in the saddle!

It is genuinely a damn shame that chronic wrist pain has taken yet another fellow artist. I actually suffer from the same issue! However you are handling a lot better than I have been over the past several years and I'm probably gonna finally look into getting more help than just taking pain killers and wearing wrist braces lmao.

My guy, please do not stress yourself. I think I speak for everyone when I say that even if we had to wait years to see another big or small animation, we would be patient as ever. I know some people that just want to see your jokes and goofy characters might get a bit impatient and want to see your stuff sooner, but if even after this video there are people that are threatening you and making your job unbearable despite paying your bills you need to forget about them.
I know its hard, and I know we psychologically look at the negatives more than the support we actually get, but from artist to artist, PLEASE take your time. I know this is upsetting and it feels like your whole livelihood is being upturned, but I think you need to take a step back and look at things objectively. If you go back on the same work schedule you did your life will be hell, and despite art being your livelihood, you won't be LIVING with it. So please listen to the support with all your heart and take your time.

Life can be so unfair. The best people suffer from any bullshit nature has ready for us and most criminals are reaching over 100 healthy years.
I am so sorry for your injury and I wish you all the best! I really hope there was a definitive cure for this...
It is very heart breaking for me because I discovered your channel in Mid 2022 while becoming a FNAF fan and therefore just started to enjoy all of your videos...I was so excited about Sherif Hayseed to become a real and big show and now this....
Any dumb trash show on Netflix and Disney+ gets done with millions of dollars but actual content with character dies in the process of planning and not only because of the low budget...this is so frustrating.

Damn that really sucks, hope you can get a good routine in place to manage the issue. And fingers crossed other animation options work out as your ideas and voice acting are probably the backbone of the videos more than the animation alone.

If this is Carpal tunnel, and it sounds like it - I had it (Blacksmithing), but not pain, but hands going numb, waking up with numb fingers/hands. Got both wrists fixed. best thing I've ever done - instant fix, just had a couple of months where I could not do certain things. If you can get the surgery do it. Get one hand done, then then next a month later. Doing both at the same time is...well, problematic if you want to be able to do things.
