Today, I wanted to share a few tips and habits that are sure to help you read deeper, learn faster, and remember more of what you read.

I like to pick several related books and read them as a project. For example, reading Les Miserables, a biography of Voltaire, Napoleon, Marie Antoinette, etc. helps me make connections I might miss otherwise. I remember more and understand how the history of one impacted the others.
Novels help me expand my understanding of the social life and politics of the era involved.
That’s a very valuable tip. Pairing whatever historical book you’re reading with supplementary material to add context is a great idea

Certainly better advice than other creators, who say to read 2 chapters of a book, say you've read it, and move on; Blinkist is not reading. Good job!
I've been watching a few of your videos, and I just want to let you know I think you're doing something really special with your channel. I'm glad you're part of the BookTube sphere.
Some readers like myself can be averse to high production values in videos. It can feel like surely the substance will flounder in comparison to the visual panache on display, and yet you seem to genuinely be seeking, sharing, connecting, and working your way through thoughts as they form outwardly on-screen. That is refreshing. Much like an author you appreciate-David Foster Wallace-you articulate clearly while maintaining an earnest regard for what matters, and though, of course, like myself, you want an audience, you also seem to care enough to track honestly with your own interests rather than merely grabbing trends as they fling by.
I'm overcomplicating what should be a simple compliment: your videos utilize the tools of successful editing and filming while remaining singularly yours. There's personality here amid the outward-facing effort. Truly, phenomenal stuff. I think your channel is something special, and you should be proud!

such a good video, I've been reading the Malazan series at the moment and it has been taking over my life right now. these books are so dense that they take forever to comprehend and complete. BUT I love the pace I am keeping with with these books. Normally I read about 50 books a year but it might just be short of 10 this year. I think it is important to keep telling yourself quality not quantity. (also read Malazan since you're into philosophy)
I've heard good things about that series so I'll have to dig into it soon! And I agree completely. There's a few mega novels I want to get to this year that will slow down any arbitrary quantitative goal of books read

Agreed, and once you find those great minds you’ll be hooked on literature. I’ve been reading “The metamorphosis” by Ovid, and I’m hooked. Right now it’s moved up to number 2 of my favorite of all time. Also, for anyone into philosophy, Bryan Magee on RUclips and his interviews about different philosophers are really good.

@@TheActiveMind1 As someone who once taught middle school/high school English (for a brief time), I applaud your dictionary usage. There's a fascinating nonfiction book by Simon Winchester called THE DICTIONARY AND THE MADMAN that traces the creation of the OED (Oxford English Dictionary). Many of the original entries were provided by an old Civil War surgeon living in England. Turns out, he had so much time on his hands to research words because he was locked up in an asylum for the criminally insane. Wild! Best of luck with your continued reading. There are so many wonderful books out there. I hope you find many you love.
