This is what pisses me off about the league sometimes. We have Jaxson Hayes on a minimum who averaged 4.3 pts and 3.0 rbs last year in the rotation on the LAKERS when in Dwight’s “ bad year” he put up 6.2 pts and 5.9 rbs I don’t understand how you want one over the other when Howard was a still a great shot blocker and rim runner

Don't forget, when D'Howard returned that year that you are talking about, AD fucked-up, disrespected, and embarrassed D'Howard on national TV during the game. That affected the chemistry. From that point, D'Howard's body language and performance wasn't the same. Just a recap, AD came up to D'Howard on the bench and got physical on him. AD did something he shouldn't have done... especially on national TV during the game. So, it wasn't just a drop-off based on age. In my opinion, AD's action that year contributed more to that.

Listen we talk about production but he can still be dominant if given the chance. We don’t need him to play 38 minutes and get us 20 and 10 and 3 blocks but his defense and athleticism still provides value. He’s super strong and in shape. He’s proven. He’s a better shooter but the lakers didn’t need him taking threes. He can slow down Jokic and Embiid and free up AD again. He’s aged gracefully too but we don’t get to see it playing 10 minutes a game. Give him a chance.

This Dwight Howard miscommunication cost the lakers a championship because they would have beat Jokic and the Denver Nuggets if Dwight Howard was there. DH and AD on Jokic at the same time - game over.

All we need is a big physical body next to AD, it's a lot of bigs out west now, AD would be worn out playing the 5, Howard can still be a physical force in the paint.
The ball is moving too fast, and he is not fast enough to cover the corner 3s. No more back against the basket. Pick & roll defense is Dwight's biggest weakness. Love him, though.

All this makes for compelling video and chat but there is a whole other reason that you never mention as to why no one brought Dwight back in and you know it has nothing to do with skill drop off. I feel like the season he returned is suppressed because the roster and team identity changed in comparison to the championship season. I don’t think he was the only one whose numbers fell off that season. The chemistry was off. Maybe he is, maybe isn’t, as far as an answer, I don’t know, but I don’t really count that return season, personally.

If anything, bring Dwight and Javale back as a big man coaches so they can train some of these young big men how to play the position. Colin Castleton, Kylor Kelley, Christian Koloko, Armel Traore, and even Jaxson Hayes need a lot of work and can learn a lot from Dwight and Javale.
