DYNAMIC CONTROL!!!!! No one today has her flavor period. I’ve gotten to the point where I actually prefer this to anything Bruno does. When you actually listen to Bruno singing the parts Mori sings in this medley it leaves you wanting to actually hear Moris version. Her voice is so much thicker and resonant not to mention powerful. The COVER KILLER strikes again.
Yes it's live Morissette always prefers to sing live.

so good to see you react to Morissette again. I love your reaction and how you geek out to all the little things Morissette puts into her performance. She's got the whole package. An amazing voice, total mastery of all facets of her voice, passion and charisma. One of these days I will see her sing live and I am sure nI will be blown away. She has said several times that her dream collaboration would be with Bruno Mars. Wouldn't that be something to see and hear?!

Great reaction. I had to listen to this thing several times and watch a reaction by a sound recording professional before I came to the following conclusions: Morrissette chose the sequence and vocal arrangement for every song in this medley and left the instrumental arrangement to her long-time musical director, Adonis Tabanda (the small guy right behind Mori playing the bass), to compose the arrangements for the band. Morrissette is singing the first note for almost every transition between these 15 songs. There are several times when the drummer starts the rhythm for the next song and I think there are some keyboard/synth and guitar lead-ins on one transition, but she is choosing the beginning pitch. The reactor I referenced pointed out that, throughout this medley, if Morrissette hits the wrong beginning note for the next song, the band would be lost. The whole idea for medleys is that the band leads into the first several notes of the next song and that tells the vocalist where to place their first note. I was watching her Disney + extravaganza duet medley with Christian Bautista and darn if it didn't seem she led the transition for the first note after the Beauty and the Beast song to begin A Whole New World. And that was an unbelievably expensive Disney production to jump-start Disney Plus in the Philippines. Except for a few songs where she takes requests on her FB live streams over the last several years, she has said she rehearses the heck out of every song before recording vocals or performing.
She has likely been singing every one of these Bruno Mars songs to her hundred or so houseplants all through the pandemic and since fussing over them unless she got rid of them after she moved. She probably drove Dave crazy redoing every note, inflection, technique, etc, till she got it the way she thought she wanted it. Then, she goes to Adonis and goes through the sequence and he conjures up a brilliant instrumental score to fit. There are a bunch of guesses here, but I think most are spot on. Side note: On many of her performances, and live streams, I have seen since January, Morrisette has been working the devil out of those headnote oohs she does. The last several notes of this medley prove practice gets someone like her near next to perfect. Again great reaction.

Wonderful reaction Jen! I've watched this performance many time and what sticks out (amongst so many things) is the specificity with which Morissette works. Morissette finds so many details in every moment while never losing the ability to keep telling the story of the song. Have a great Xmas!!!! Jennifer! Right on top of things today. Love medley type songs even if I'm not super familiar with the songs themselves. I don't know a lot of Bruno Mars honestly though I did recognize a few of the snippets. Wow, lots of teaching moments in this one! I'm not all that familiar with Morissette either to be honest but I love her stage presence. And those squeaks! 😯 This was a great choice to react to Jennifer and, as usual great reaction and analysis! 😊 Congrats on the camera upgrade! The better to check out those nails with. 😅

Brava. I have been waiting for this kind of technical analysis of this performance. Have you reacted to the musical theatre pieces she did with Stages Sessions (the ones where she is wearing the red polo shirt)? She sings the crap out of Defying Gravity and does a lovely job with others including She Used to Be Mine.
Oh man...I would LOVE to see Jen react to these performances. They're some of her best ever, imo. My favorites are Someone Like You, Home, She Used to be Mine, and Defying Gravity, but they are all wonderful.

I'm not sure if you've already done Mori's acapella version of Rise Up with 3rd Avenue, but I thought that was the true measure of Adonis Tabanda's genius as a musical arranger. And with Mori, THAT was probably the best that song is ever going to be sung.

You should react to her phenomenonal performance of Gusto Ko Nang Bumitaw. It was uploaded in her channel. The Wish Bus ones is good too although she has some vocals issues on the day she performed that insane song. But nonetheless, you should give that a shot and we will love to hear your thoughts about that.

I am glad you mentioned the mic thing. I detest these "singers" that keep the beat by tapping on the side of the mic, (hint, they are not really singing or actually are mixed low and others are really carrying the vocals) as it is visually distracting, but I understand why as I mentioned.
