This ending is only available after you defeat Asgore as pacifist, and befriend Papyrus, Undyne, and Alphys. Your last battle is against Asriel, although there's probably no way of losing the game now.
Everyone bawling about Asriel not getting a happy ending, but I just realized, what about Sans? He _never_ gets a happy ending. He knows it's going to be reset again. Damn, Toby.

Uhhh. Papyrus just canonically suggested there are other endings, suggesting he totally knows there are multiple realities. And on death in genocide he tells you he still believes in you. That skeleton knows way more than he lets on.

he, sans, and gaster are the only ones that seem to know about the other realites, papyrus mentioned them here, sans talked about anomlies in timelines, and gaster literally got shattered throughout the timelines.

I feel so sad for Asriel though, he's the most pure and innocent one and yet he's had it the hardest. He can't stop himself from turning into Flowey, someone who loves hurting people and is a complete opposite of who he actually is. He'll be alone...that's so sad to me I'm having a hard time getting over it.

+Tom de Kler *spoilers* Theory is he's depressed about something. I mean, he only stops YOU after you've murdered his brother and pretty much everyone else. He's got some serious issues if he lets you kill Undyne, Papyrus, Toriel, and hordes of innocents before he even tries to stop you.
+DJ Riverside The theory is that he too knows that something's going on as well, resetting the world over and over, and doesn't know what the point is when he'll just awaken back at the start. Only unlike Flowey he never has any control over it. So has just become apathetic to it.
+Tom de Kler Sans knows he can't kill Flowey, because Flowey has the power to save. Sans doesn't have this power.
Puppy Luvv Frisk does, so why is this any different?
Okay to be fair Sans is the weakest character in the game and he got suckerpunched, which in a way is his weakness.
Tom de Kler Sans wasn't aware Frisk had the power to save. It was only once he found out that he decided simply not to let them have another turn, since he knew he wasn't going to be able to beat them.

Monsters are generally nicer than humans in the first place, and also humans are stronger. That's how they ended up underground in the first place- humans were being racist jerks.

Asriel became a villian so that his friend will never leave him alone again (with the previous one being dead and thinking frisk is the one and same person).
He is one of the best antagonist that has been ever been written imo.

Undertale is hands down one of the best games ever. The different endings, the way the game pulls at your heartstrings and makes you feel so many emotions while playing it, the way the characters break the 4th wall and know that you can replay and have a different ending, everything else I haven't mentioned... it has all been executed so perfectly in such a way that makes this game worth replaying over and over and over... amazing job Toby Fox. Undertale is now #1 on my favorite games list.
And yes, I'm trying so hard not to cry while watching this video and even after watching it ;)

+Askareth It is interesting. In any other game there'd be an implication of them getting back together in some happy-rainbows Disney outcome, but given how mature Undertale is I'm not sure Toriel would ever be likely to forgive Asgore for the murder* and war-inciting.
*though some people have theorized that none of the other humans actually got as far as Asgore, he simply collected their souls post-death.
Am I the only one who ACTUALLY went all the way back at the start of the game before going to the credits ?… this video missed that important part :P

im praying toby adds an alternate ending where you fuse souls with Asriel.
also i want him to make it that you can only do it after 3 runs. run#1 would be pacifist run (just to get the whole plot figured out) #2 would be genocide *so you can sell your soul* and then run 3 pacifist again, go back, soul merge with asriel, frisk and asriel become one, and then that leaves the evil entity behind, you fight chara as a "team" the LEGIT final boss. Then you can have the really happy ending where asgore and torial get back together with both kids (kind of)

I never could understand how anybody found the whole genocide route to be worth its ending. I mean, Chara can be scary to those mass murderers and killing the main cast just doesn't give the same satisfaction.

+Brantly Devore No, Flowey is the final boss of the Neutral Run. It doesn't matter whether you play pacifist or not, you'll fight Flowey. It's only if you play Genocide that you won't encounter Flowey's boss battle.

I chose not to live with Toriel since If I were frisk, I'd figure I had a Mom and Dad back home that were also worried sick about me. It broke my heart to do that though. My brain wanted one choice, my heart wanted another. Thankfully judging by the ending photo for that one where Toriel and Frisk are in a picture with all of their friends, they seem to keep in constant contact.

That moment when Asriel remembers how he met and became friends with the Fallen Child... this game makes me cry buckets. It also makes me want to believe the Fallen Child wasn't pure evil... after all, they loved their family deeply, and wanted to save all monsters by getting rid of the barrier... even if they DID want to kill all humans. I would pay for a prequel story that tells of how the Fallen Child was possessed or corrupted or had a terrible past with humanity and that's why they hated humanity so much--

The beauty of this game having you unknowingly name the villain at the very beginning is uncanny. Seeing the name I picked to be my virtual persona in most games and gaming social networks be turned into a villain is chilling to say the least.

The kid wasn't evil at all.
*Spoiler* If you play pacifist walkthrough, when heading to Asgore, the monsters fill you in on what happened.
The separation of between Humans and monsters happened before Asriel's arc. The child fell down just like your character, befriended Asriel and became part of the family. But the child got sick and died, so Asriel took the child's body beyond the gate to the village. That's when/why the humans attacked and mortally wounded Asriel. Once he got back to the monster world, Asriel passed away. That's when The King declared war and the rest is history.
Whatever happened before Ariel's arc and the initial separation of Monsters and Humans is a mystery as far as I know. I would love to see that

You can get more detail on the fallen human from the VHS tapes in the True Lab and from Asriel itself at the beginning of the ruins in a true pacifist playthrough.
+Pikalu12 I don't think the first human was evil. To be honest...a lot of us who come from broken homes or scary places...who run away, shove our hearts so far down inside of ourselves that they can get lost in all that blackness.
It makes it hard to remember color, or trust that embracing arms aren't white barriers caging us in, or attacks meant to rob us of what little soul we can see in the shadows. We get scared- we get angry. We lash out and we act out; we imitate what we've been shown, as children because it's familiar and we're scared. To be unloved enough to run away...to fall so far down that the human world becomes a world of monsters and new, frightening things...it would be hard for any child to accept with open arms the first time around.
That's the whole point of this game. Learning to love when fear wins out so often. The first child only had one chance, and they died before they could learn any differently. You had many, and in order to love fully, and live fully, you needed them. You needed to make choices and learn things and fail a few times.
Always Try Again. Always Be Determined. You're given many chances in life; always see them and always take them. When you do it enough times, you'll blink and realize that all of those monsters are your friends...and you never fell as far as you thought you did. You could always see the sun...you just forgot to open your eyes.
I know that's what happened with me, at least.

I've finished this game twice (neutral ending and this ending). And I love these characters sooooo much that I don't want to do the genocide route.
This is one of my favourite games of all time.

Hey so I just completed the pacifist ending today and...
I gotta say, I have never been so happy to see video game characters be set free.
I was just smiling throughout the whole ending, trying to fight Asriel, I got there eventually. And gave everybody their happy ending.
When I saw everybody standing, looking at the sun, I was smiling, knowing that I had done so well to give them the happy ending they truly deserved... I felt bad for Asriel though, like he's not going to be able to see them again, but... hey... at least he's with Chara now.
And then the ending credits came.
I smiled throughout the whole of the credits, recollecting on everything I had done during this journey.
Undertale isn't a game. It's an experience.
And I am so glad I managed to experience this masterpiece.
So I've decided I'm going to let Frisk go and live their life. They deserve it anyway.

Frisk probably became a legend among the monsters; the angel sent from above to free them from their tomb, celebrated in song for generations to come, much in the same way Ocarina of Time's Link had become a legend by the era of Wind Waker.

3 years ago I made the powerful decision to never reset again. After I did multiple neutral runs and genocide runs, I decided to do a pacifist ending and then finally close the game so my friends and family could live happily with Frisk. I get sad, but I don't regret it.
This was the first I'd ever seen of Undertale and to this day I still love the shit out of this masterpiece of a game.

I got into Undertale in late 2015/early 2016. I love the game so much and yet I still haven't played the game myself. Since quarantine, I keep looking back at the videos. It filled me with so much nostalgia because I was so head over heels for the characters, fandom and this game. This really made me cry because I made so many friends because of this game. I'd love to thank the whole fandom and Toby Fox. So, thank you. Ya'll are the best, thank you so much for an amazing time.

This is the absolute best ending to any game I've played. I haven't been able to get the game or characters out of my head since I beat it a few days ago. I've never felt so attached to any game, book, or movie as I did with this.
