David is like the generation of brilliant, creative engineers who made such amazing advances in Britain in the 1800s. I didn't think that such people existed anymore - the kind of engineer who is also an artist and a craftsman and an inventor.
I love these beautiful creative minds. This gentleman is so brilliant, brave, visionary and afraid of nothing. What a wonderful episode George. Thank you for sharing with us such a wonderful experience. I am also delighted to see the quality of craftsmanship involved in this project. I absolutely love lo watch what you do beautiful George.
David reminds me of Caractacus Potts (Van Dyke’s character) from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Focused on his extraordinary extravagant projects, and dragging his family along on his wild adventures. To be honest, he seems fun and wonderful much like Caractacus and his dad were. I hope he finished it.
Fantastic, however planning/building regs allowed I would initially have kitchen on ground floor, have extension around back(understand similar has been done with a replica roof) and have the staircase external to the building. Living room above kitchen, then 2 bedrooms and top living room, top living room with windows could double as a bedroom.
In the beginning I thought David might be a little nuts. But after a while you are totally in his obsession. I loved he ended so many sentences with „George“.
Two questions. 1. How are they going to get the furniture to the upper floors? 2. Have they made provisions for when they are older and may not be able to climb the stairs?
...all of the none believers can over there into that field, with their tomato juice and they can sit there in the mud... BaHaHa! Well alrighty then, work your magic David.
David is the typical inventor you see in the movies. His mind is too small for his brain, so he runs around in circles like a run away train. I bet he dreams the same way at night. I feel his pain. It’s a tough way to live, no one understands it. And you can’t turn that off. It’s a way of life. 👍
" I do need to have at least four and a half hours sleep if I have less than that I start hallucinating, and I can't concentrate ".. bahahaha. His son's reaction in the background was just priceless. LOL By the sounds of things, I think David brain is short circuiting due to the stress he's created for himself. There's a lesson to be learned in this. That's what happens when your follow your heart without counting the cost. Jesus once said, A wise man counts the cost. Luke 14: 28 For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it- 29 lest, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, 30 saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish’? Jesus was talking about discipleship and he continued to say he who does not forsake all cannot be my disciple. many folks thinks nowadays think all they need to do is just believe only to be a disciple but God always ask for more than that doesn't he. Just like when you count the cost of something you need to consider first of all to make sure you have counted the cost. Or you risk the chance of making yourself out to be a fool. Its the same thing with eternal life in the end your better off making sure you have counted the cost and you make sure you truly are his disciple cause that is all that matter's when its all said and done. Here is the finished product. ruclips.net/video/u5HBgmsOY0U/видео.html
Yeah, my first thought as a woman is, 'Who is going to drag the hoover up those stairs cleaning them - not to mention cleaning the rest of the building?' You build it, you clean it. I'd have tried to put in a one-person lift and wrap the staircase around it, just to make it easier to get from one part of the 'house' to another. Imagine wanting to get a snack when you are in the sitting room at the top of the building, and having to go down all those stairs, get a sandwich, and go back up - ooops, forgot my drink. Back down again. Well, you''ll either stay downstairs or you'll get very fit or you'll just say 'to hell with it' and go without your snack.
George its OK for you to keep pushing to get it done for the sake of the show but you arent doing the work or paying the bill...it was becoming a bit monotonous the way you were constantly pressuring David. David, you have a brilliant mind, love your car. I wish you well with this project but you have to learn you cant be all things to all people. You need to balance your work/life style, tell customers they will have to wait until tomorrow...all other tradies do it. There are only 24 hours in a day...you have a wife and family too. They arent just there to be your offsiders. Especially your son. He loves you and cares for you but he has a life of HIS own too. This is your project not his. Accept his help when he's available but let him have free time too or he will walk. I think your wife is very patient, you need to look after her too. She also is not your tradesmans assistant or 'just the book keeper'. Now Occ Health and Safety...SERIOUSLY David...no ropes or harness at the very top of your roof??? Not foolhardy, silly but STUPID and CARELESS...have a brain man...you are dead if you fall and it could really hurt on the way down bang bump impale!!!! Do be careful....and GOODLUCK to you all...

English people are know with this courageous and inventive mind abroad.
I’ve known David for about 20 years ( he is the refrigeration guy who does fridge stuff where I work ) absolutely
Lovey guy.👍🏻
David is unconventional. The quintessential English eccentric. Lovely.

Is there a part 2 to this episode I really want to find out how David is doing with the tower and if he's gotten it finished. This guy is amazing.
he did! there's a short video done well after it was finished ruclips.net/video/6pVnwM0BKgY/видео.html&ab_channel=MartinSercombe
Yes, Season 6 episode 3.
David is daft as a broom! God bless the man and his efforts. Glad your credentials are in tact!😃
A wonderful mother
the whole family is lovely
Brilliant engineer. Exeptional man.
@@maryjackson8484 As a presenter, he's adding that 'extra pepper'🙀
I wish they would come back and update us on the places that they showed on Tv that were not done yet by the end of the show
Rarely is the host excited to learn from the home buyer! Incredible episode
It’s always sooo frustrating for the audience to watch an episode showing an unfinished project.

haha that's exactly what I thought (it was the car)
David is a true Mad Engineer.
Having been married to one myself, I feel Jenny is a kindred soul.
I love this episode, he is so innovative 👍🏻
Where do you suppose the lift will be?? Maybe a glass lift on the outside? I'd sure like to see this when it's finished!! Amazing, creative man!
Geniuses never fit in. He's totally in his own world and not even worried about a thing. "Always in the well" 😂😂😂😂😂
OMG! He scrubbed off the patina!
There is a " revisit episode" that shows completion. Maybe you could find it a provide the link in the description.
... the weathervane's initials...
.... G. C. .....
...perfect...
Amazing
Are you ever gonna show the finished product that would be nice

Lovely, greetings from Ecuador
Is there another part coming to show the progess and end?
The son is quite sensible.
Two questions. 1. How are they going to get the furniture to the upper floors? 2. Have they made provisions for when they are older and may not be able to climb the stairs?
George, don't make pressure 😁
nothing worse than me, i shouted Riders Up! in my sleep lol
If that latter slipped he would’ve been hanging out with the squirrels on the trees.
Yikes! I can't manage the idea of climbing all over that TALL tower. Flips my stomach just watching David and his crew.
...all of the none believers can over there into that field, with their tomato juice and they can sit there in the mud... BaHaHa! Well alrighty then, work your magic David.
How are they going to get the sofa all the way up there, 6 floors

Build a second tower next to it that has a elevator walla easy access.
What is 'walla' in the dictionary?
wouldve been cool to see it done
Update on this project available on Season 6 Episode 3 of this Build a New Life in the Country.
When can we see the end result?

thats a lot of scaffolding, dont they charge weekly for that?
I really hate the unfinished one's I feel that I just wasted 45 mins watching nothing at the end.
Here's a bit more info ruclips.net/video/6pVnwM0BKgY/видео.html
@@beckweth Thanks for that.
I agree, but he's such an interesting person! More than makes up for the lack of satisfaction of a finished job lol
Eccentric does not have to be a deficit
Disappointing no ending ,I was so interested in the end result
For those playing the drinking game, "this is fantastic, don'tcha think" occurs at 2:52 ruclips.net/video/8yrGazHfkGM/видео.html
This guy must be peter sellers double?
David’s wife should give more money so he can finish the water tower.
Ten thousand pounds isn’t a realistic budget.
oxygen tank and fire? mmm
There is no results to the billed to see it’s pretty big disappointment
Large! Sorry
All those stairs are going to get tiresome fast especially as that kook and his lovely wife get older
And how will they get the furniture, appliances up there. It is like a kids tree house.
