Bill thanks for the interview Terry Allen was one of the Greatest Wrestlers going before the accident. He could've had a great reign ahead of him with his personality, charisma & talent! God Bless him and his family he is still alive and doing well! :-)
they were gonna give the world title to Magnum TA, there was a plan for within the next 2 weeks(didnt know accident was gonna happen) to feud with Ric Flair and win the belt and hold it for a while.
I thought so too until I looked at the dates. Garvin beat Flair almost a year after TA's accident and only held the title for a couple months before losing it back to Flair who held it for another year. I expected Nikita Kolof to replace TA briefly as he was pretty over right away once he turned face.
It's good to see Magnum doing well these days. He was definitely my favorite wrestling going up as a kid. Blessings to him for his everlasting inspiration that he has left us with.
Terry Allen would have been a great NWA World Heavyweight Champion with a awesome feud with Ric Flair especially with the shirt thing and the suit, GREAT STUFF
I remember seeing him after his accident, at the Baltimore arena, he worked in the background of the promotion, he’d come out and wave to fans from the back
one of the most deserving athletes robbed of his true glory ahead of his time by mother nature. made it all the more easier for the bad guys, much to our chagrin and displeasure. god bless you magnum
Tesla has Tully's genetics, I noticed Magnum wasn't moving much and his right arm is still stationary like in every other film shoot post accident I seen of him, also looked like he had an issue turning his head to the right too.
I wonder how Magnum TA managed to find another job after wrestling... He had to go from having Rock n' roll type fame to being a 9-5 guy. Mentally, it must have been a hell of an uphill battle.
Maître Renard things like that are hard for anyone who had ever been in the limelight . Be it Sports, entertainment or Sports Entertainment. I'm speaking from experience
How would he have been a good fit? Magnum was way too much of a likeable blue collar babyface to fit in a group of money hungry businessmen, it wouldn't have worked at all.
Terry's Mom was as very nice person. TA and I are about the same age. I asked her for advice on how to break into the business. She didn't know me from Adam but she told me who to contact. It was a wrestling school in Columbia SC run by the Late Lillian Ellison aka The Fabulous Moohlah.
Hated what happened to Magnum.....his signature belly to belly suplex and graceful reversal of the Irish whip will never be forgotten....whether it was the brief war with Ric Flair, the seemingly infinite war with Nakita Koloff or savage war with Tully Blanchard this guy was the consummate professional......
Hi Bill this is Brian from Massachusetts. I want to start out by saying bill I am a big fan of you your work and your show. I have to agree with you Magnum TA is one of the most awesome nicest kindest and one of the best athletes in professional wrestling.... I really think if it wasn't for that car accident that he would still be in professional wrestling today or at least coming back once in awhile like Jake Roberts Etc to the WWE for a match here and there or for an appearance. I'm a very big fan of Magnum TA I really think he shares Bret Hart's shoes with he's the best there is the best there was and the best there ever will be I think he shares that title cuz he is definitely the greatest I think....
I tell people this all the time... If Magnum TA didn't have his accident, he was BOUND to be a Horseman. He talks about the attitude... he was right there.
+Tobey Starburst Certainly a WCW Champ. I have no doubt we would've seen a helluva Magnum/Flair feud. Possibly WWF champ if Vince could steal him away. Chances are: A WWF Magnum run might have cut short a Macho Man face run. Unless Magnum could pull out a great heel, that would be too many top baby faces. I could've seen a Macho/Magnum feud and I could see it going over well.......of course only if Vince didn't do something stupid and turn him into a fool gimmick or something.
I can't imagine Billy Apter being difficult to work with!? I think Magnum TA coulda took him though. I mean yeah Apter is a little guy, light on the feet and quick but I think Magnum and him coulda hooked it up and filled seats in arenas Coast to Coast Brotha! 💜💜💪😎🔥
i never remembered this guy until they recently released a WWE Elite figure of him. I was like, "who the hecks this dude?" Im sure i watched em many enough times as a child cause my father and i always watched saturday night wrestling on the superstation! It was our past time, so now i wanna get the T.A. figure daddy!
Bill, everytime you interview somebody, you do more talking then the person you're interviewing. Everytime you'll keep interrupting the person as they are talking, give the people a chance to finish talking.
@@tvtitlechampion3238 As great and cool as David and Magnum were, none of them could have stopped Vince's invasion of the territories and subsequent domination of the business. Particularly not Magnum, since by late 86 the WWF was getting bigger and bigger every month. No one could have stopped it. If a true star and wrestling machine like Flair couldn't stop it, no one could. David and Magnum were awesome, but they weren't on Flair's level in the ring and from a marketable point of view, none of them could have single-handedly saved the NWA.
@@jonathanturbide2232 yeah, know what you're saying is true, but I like thinking about it in terms of "what if?". David stays alive, maybe the other von Erich dominoes don't fall. Though Flair is as you say, the fans need a break from the same old-same old, and Flair was getting there in the late 80's. If Magnum spells him, who knows what other talents get developed. But a lot more has to go right: the NWA/WCW management has to get a lot smarter, more cooperative with each other, and identify Vince as the common enemy. Vince just rolled 'em because he was so singular and ruthless, and they were so fractured. I feel like there was an outside chance they could've at least fought to a draw. That would be a better look for pro grapplin' today, perhaps. Maybe the AEW will provide the competition that Vince so badly needs to improve his product.
Too bad he wasn't wearing the suit Flair gave him and resorted to ripping it up, instead. He never did show any class. That was one of the funniest skits I've seen in 35 years of watching.
Magnum needs to be inducted into the HOF, with Tully doing the induction. That would be beyond awesome.
Or by Nakita
“Magga Tee Aaay” 😀
Classic Nikita - their best of seven matches were very good. 👍👍👍
Two men worth rooting for in all aspects of life.
Bill thanks for the interview Terry Allen was one of the Greatest Wrestlers going before the accident. He could've had a great reign ahead of him with his personality, charisma & talent! God Bless him and his family he is still alive and doing well! :-)
Great to see two legends made my day this
the RUssian BEAT HIM again and again !
Only God knows how huge Magnum TA could have been if he had not been seriously injured.
they were gonna give the world title to Magnum TA, there was a plan for within the next 2 weeks(didnt know accident was gonna happen) to feud with Ric Flair and win the belt and hold it for a while.
Starrcade 86
I think his title run went to Ronnie Garvin after the accident.
I thought so too until I looked at the dates. The biggest what if in wrestling history
i like bill apter never forgets anybody. great interview bill!
Brings back great memories of Georgia Championship and Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling. Thanks Bill.
magnum we love you. you are a champion. god bless.
Magnum TA Should Had Been NWA World's Heavyweight Champion.
It's good to see Magnum doing well these days. He was definitely my favorite wrestling going up as a kid. Blessings to him for his everlasting inspiration that he has left us with.

Its amazing how one accident can change a life forever.
Bill Apter....that crazy comb over.....he will NEVER let it go
Magnum Ta was a great united States heavy weight champion I'm glad he is doing great these days!!!👍👍👍👍👍
so many of the top wrestlers of today still rave about Magnum TA and feel bad he never got to be what he could be due to that wreck.
one of my all time favorites...
Great to catch up with Magnum, thank you for the update.
When the United States Heavyweight Championship Belt was very important title to hold. I remember the Wars wrestlers fought over that belt.
Met Magnum TA at an AWE show fantastic guy Bill Apter you are the man
Tesla has Tully's genetics, I noticed Magnum wasn't moving much and his right arm is still stationary like in every other film shoot post accident I seen of him, also looked like he had an issue turning his head to the right too.
Wow he even sounds the same it's almost like I could close my eyes and it's 1985 again.
Magnum is one of the greatest ☝️️👍
it was 1984-85 when cable came to the north east area of the east coast. I didn't get all players but got the main stream attitude.
Magnum is a total Gentleman
I wonder how Magnum TA managed to find another job after wrestling... He had to go from having Rock n' roll type fame to being a 9-5 guy. Mentally, it must have been a hell of an uphill battle.
Maître Renard Terry successfully owned his own steel erection Co. around Charlotte NC
Maître Renard things like that are hard for anyone who had ever been in the limelight . Be it Sports, entertainment or Sports Entertainment. I'm speaking from experience
It's that or starve
My dream Horsemen would have been Flair/Arn/Tully/Magnum with Dillon in the corner. Magnum would have been an excellent addition.
How would he have been a good fit? Magnum was way too much of a likeable blue collar babyface to fit in a group of money hungry businessmen, it wouldn't have worked at all.
I have to say that kid was very well spoken for a 7 year old. He will definatly have the charisma to be a pro.
Magnum TA is still OVER with the fans,,,,he never quit life
Terry's Mom was as very nice person. TA and I are about the same age. I asked her for advice on how to break into the business. She didn't know me from Adam but she told me who to contact. It was a wrestling school in Columbia SC run by the Late Lillian Ellison aka The Fabulous Moohlah.
I love this Channel
I still think Magnum TA would make an awesome manager. He still has a good intimidating look to him and is great on the mic.
This dude was popular back in the day!,
Hated what happened to Magnum.....his signature belly to belly suplex and graceful reversal of the Irish whip will never be forgotten....whether it was the brief war with Ric Flair, the seemingly infinite war with Nakita Koloff or savage war with Tully Blanchard this guy was the consummate professional......
Me and you both
A man's wrestling career cut WAY too short because of that car accident.
ikr and he was going to be the one to beat Ric Flair for the NWA world champion

Magnum TA would have been so big if it weren't for that accident
So true
MinisterioAPDP so very, very true! Magnum TA would have been among the greats!
I mean how far would he have gone? I don't think he would ever break out to wwf.... He probably would have been in wcw for the rest of his career.
+J.K Singh Nah, he never would've been WWF. Thank God.
Who knows how the WCW itself may have fared if he and David von Erich managed to reach their potential.
Tessa Blandard and she dating Ricochet and they r both awesome
great video as always.
tessa blanchard
I wish I could ask him who won those Russian Chain Matches.. I never knew who won those haha. Back when chain matches were bloody.
I tell people this all the time... If Magnum TA didn't have his accident, he was BOUND to be a Horseman. He talks about the attitude... he was right there.
I miss Magnum TA. He left us way too soon.
Hes not dead
Damn wish they had DDP Yoga back in the day
He still wouldnt be able to wrestle
Why isn't it called the Apter Chapter?
I always loved watching, Flair beat him up.
Bill Apter if Magnum never got in the crash where do you think he would have got to in the world of wrestling? I think a WWF and WCW World Champion.
+Tobey Starburst Certainly a WCW Champ. I have no doubt we would've seen a helluva Magnum/Flair feud.
Possibly WWF champ if Vince could steal him away. Chances are: A WWF Magnum run might have cut short a Macho Man face run. Syphon Filter Would have been really cool to see what could have happened.
I never knew T.A. is married to Tully's ex and the fact that Tessa is his stepdaughter
I can't imagine Billy Apter being difficult to work with!? I think Magnum TA coulda took him though. I mean yeah Apter is a little guy, light on the feet and quick but I think Magnum and him coulda hooked it up and filled seats in arenas Coast to Coast Brotha! 💜💜💪😎🔥
Nice how he said he would have loved it if he was in the attitude era!
i never remembered this guy until they recently released a WWE Elite figure of him. I was like, "who the hecks this dude?" Im sure i watched em many enough times as a child cause my father and i always watched saturday night wrestling on the superstation! It was our past time, so now i wanna get the T.A. figure daddy!
susubeardehart well obviously youre writing about it, so someone does
If it wasn't for the accident, I think Magnum TA would've been big talent.
Magnum TA is wrestling’s version of Ron Swanson.
the way he looks and how he sounds.....let dkwn
I was hoping he might have said something about Dusty.
This was taped before Dusty died I believe.
***** It was taped before Dusty died. I will try to setup a Skype "Apter Chat" in the future with Magnum's memories of Dusty.
My mistake, I thought the date said July 6th.
anybody know if he is still in the Virginia-North Carolina area?
There is no audio after the intro
Wow, has he changed..
magnum ta is my uncle's cousin, true story
HA HA THEN MY FRIEND WE ARE FAMILY ALSO ,HE IS MY COUSIN.

"copyright adam copeland" hahahaha said what I was thinking
Magnum TA you are the reason there's a treason there's only 35 greatest wrestlers of all time
I remember. He was attitude before. Stone Cold
Magnum is topps.
Looks Healthy!
Would have been Mr. NWA if he wasn't cut short.
I never got over that damn accident

"I quit"
Whats his step daughters full name? Tessa what?
sonja westbrooks Tessa Blanchard, the daughter of Tully Blanchard!
+1WrestlingVideo Is she the same Tessa magnum alludes to? did he marry Tully's ex????
Yes he did!
Jethro bodine in the suit.
MAGGAH TA !!
Is Magnum sitting on a mobility scooter ?!?!?
He said he was 56 in the video which is 2 yrs old.... Doesn't anyone pay attention?
Samual Jones
Did you mean almost 60, because he's 58?
Bill, everytime you interview somebody, you do more talking then the person you're interviewing. Everytime you'll keep interrupting the person as they are talking, give the people a chance to finish talking.
Like cnn lol
wow! I remember when he had the horrible motorcycle accident.
that must have been before the auto accident.
He will always be Maga-nah T.A. to me.
Not preaching anymore?
MinisterioAPDP I don't think Magnum ever preached.
MinisterioAPDP Nikita Koloff became a preacher.
Seems like the Million Dollar Man and Tully Blanchard are in ministry, too, if I'm not mistaken.
nwa history would have been different if magnum wasn't hurt or if David von Erich would have lived
I'd like to think so, too. Maybe Vince wouldn't have the stranglehold he gleefully enjoys today.

Magnum Transversus Abdominus
l'll see you at the snatches , maybe not
911 oversteer. Make some money then nearly eat it in a "Porsche"
Too bad he wasn't wearing the suit Flair gave him and resorted to ripping it up, instead. He never did show any class. That was one of the funniest skits I've seen in 35 years of watching.
I saw TA one time, asked him to walk across the parking lot to sign my picture, but yeaahhhhh, took too long do we went home. he still my be there
