- Managed to get some fertilizer spread in between rains. That being said for the time being Id much rather have the rain because around this time last year we were looking at our first dry week of what would become a 7-8 week drought.
I am 78 years old and really enjoy all of your videos. It is good to see someone your age with his head on straight and with some common sense.
Most farmers on here say I don’t have a clue what I’m doing.
Agree and Well said
You are xoing a great job and very knowledgeable
Always liked the look of the short wheels base 55 series Olivers! The 55 series were brand new when I started my career as a mechanic in a central PA dealership. Thanks for your content.
I was excited when you got the spreader, and man is that paying off, 😂. I'm sure glad I got to know you. It is so refreshing to see someone your age using their head for something besides a hatrack. Using common sense is really great to see. Keep up the great work and I'll see you later.
I do my best.
Sure looks like your spreader did its job fine. I bet it’s sure nice having your own spreader. 1955 sure sounds good. What a good work horse they are.
Makes life a lot easier.
G’job Ethan, as for you not knowing what you’re doing, I disagree, mainly because one thing I’ve noticed about all us farmers and retired farmers is things that work or are done in one section of the country may not apply to another. Our furthest north farm requires totally different tillage practices and prescriptions due to the drastic difference in soil composition, and they’re only 16 miles apart. In other words, you do you and at the end of the day that’s all that matters. Keep em comin OFB🇺🇸💪🏻🇺🇸
I saw a little dust flying there. Also some water. Here in SE Michigan(Monroe County) I've only seen 2 fields worked ( and planted) and that's blow sand. Everyone else has barely turned a wheel. I hope you have a good Spring planting season. Thanks for taking us along!
Forecast isn’t looking to promising so far.
Ethan, that's good you're able to get in the fields. Thanks Michael
Thanks
I really appreciate you taking the time to do the Oliver videos in iowa. I farm in sw iowa and my dad bought a new mm 670 in 1966 that I still have and have a g900 lp I bought a couple years ago
Maybe need to get a tarp fitted for the spreader
I had fun spreading on corn ground yesterday. Couldn't buy a rain last year now all seeps and springs are running. Hoping to plant corn tomorrow!
I’m hoping to plant beans tomorrow if it doesn’t rain tonight
Congratulations on your new fields👍😅
Thanks
here in central wisconsin on our sand ground on a normal year we can get 90 to 110 a bushel to the acre
Good video Ethan
Good video.
How approximately many acres does your family farm?
Looks like your spreader is working well
So far.
Just about dry enough to plant beans here Farm Boy and bam, Bob's your uncle, another .8 last night! That's 3.8 since last friday
We had anywhere between .2 and 1.5.
Looking forward to see both hay fields being mowed. Plus Have you ever watched Clarksons Farm?
Isn't it only on Netflix or is it Amazon? I have seen short things here on Amazon but I don't pay for subscription services other than my satellite.
Looks like things are turning around!
Not really still raining to much.
Would you try to plant the 1 acre chunk to hay?
I'm not a nice person. I would have told the neighbor lady, if matters that much to you hire a surveyor. Only after she paid that bill would I explain open and notorious possession to her. Apparently takes 15 years in Michigan.
I put partial blame on my landlord for not having a survey done when he bought the place. I don’t know why lending institutions don’t require it as part of the loan agreement.
Random tile would help if landlord would cost share or a long term lease.wetspots waste imputs
There is nowhere to tile any of it to.
We have that problem in the thumb, poor county drain management and road commission ditch maintenance
Is a roll tarp in the future plans for the fertilizer spreader? Heck, with your shop skill, you could build one!
No
What fertilizer do you put on bean ground ?
What ever it needs.
