- DID DEATH'S SHADOW JUST BECOME TIER ONE?! Legacy Dimir Stalactite Stalker Shadow MTG
I play a Magic: the Gathering Online Legacy League with a UB Death's Shadow deck. This version goes back to old technology of running a one drop creature, this time in the form of Stalactite Stalker.

I think that one massive thing between delver and stalactite stalker when looking at counts for how many cards help it, is that delver only cares about the card on top of your library, while stalker can get triggered by cards in your hand. like, grixis and temur delver feel a bit suspicious irg delver flip count and they're on more cards that flip delver and baubles to do the delver trick with (also Darcy surveils can help). I think if you wanted to play delver in the deck you'd need to cut grief and prolly borrower from the list
Yeah, there is interesting push and pull between them for sure.
A possible play at 1:04:05 is to play the death shadow just so it dies and reanimate the third stalactite. At the end of turn you would get 3 stalactite triggers. Watching how the game progressed, I think it would have been an interesting play.
That's a really sweet line
Hmm, I think a big take away from stalker is that it can "never" die to bowmasters on the draw making it nearly always stay in on the draw. After some testing myself takeaways I feel are, I want to include another grief (push up to 20 sources of descend) and potentially another murk? Harder to find the space, I think brazen borrower belongs in the board, not the main, likely to switch to a grief on that one
Cool list though
Yeah, I like stalker much more in the grixis delver shell where they are more in need of threats that dodge bowboys, however stalker doesn't always dodge bowboys as you do need something to go along with it. Sometimes you keep a dual land hand with no bauble and it's just a 1/1. Shadow has plenty of threats that dodge bowboys already imo.
I will jam the grixis delver ish build soon tho
@@crucible_of_words yeah inclusion of baubles helps stalky boi a lot, personally I think from my testing having the 4th grief really allows for stalky boi to grow much more often then a 75th card brazy B.
What would the cuts be for grixis? Seems kinda tight
@@StannersFranks The Grixis list is basically Grixis Delver with Stalkers over Delvers, will be recording with it very soon!

@@crucible_of_words issue is mana base then no? Delver drc are online with volc but drc stalky are online with badlands which turns off all blue cards and dads
Regardless I’d like to see it in practice!
Amazing content as always 👏🏽👏🏽
Stalker in a non-Shadow, more controlling deck variant seems interesting.
Shadow scam without Trolls and Thoughtseize can't be right, can it?
SB I've been very happy with Counterbalance for Delver and mirrors, also Keg kills artifact lands.
19 blue cards main for 4 FoW is prettyyyyy tight.
Troll triggers stalker, is a good reanimate target, and reanimating it helps with shadow. Why no troll?
This isn't my list, but the stock list that is winning stuff. It runs Wraith over Troll because Wraith can cycle turn one with a Stalker in play. It's all about dodging bowmasters by making Stalker reliably 2/2 on turn one. The deck can't fit in more cyclers really
You need Mishra's Bauble to make Stalker work. At which point you should also play DRC. Grixis Death's Shadow could be the play.
It felt better in the Grixis shell for sure, although a fair few UB stalker lists did well in last nights showcase challenge
Is this dexk playable without underground sea?
Yes, but it is significantly worse.
does troll belong in this list?
i should have just read the comments lol
The list I played here is the stock list that has been putting up numbers. It plays Street Wraith over the Troll because the Wraith can be cycled alongside the Stalker being cast on turn one, so you are more likely to have a 2/2 on turn one to dodge bowmasters etc. I don't think the list can support both troll and Wraith
@@crucible_of_words that makes sense. maybe with a delver in that slot you could replace sw with troll for a more powerful reanmiation target. plus the shuffle effect is nice
Why no troll kaza dume?
Cuz this is the stalactite version
@maxlachapelle2633 stalactite is great with troll though. It's also a significantly better reanimate target

No troll? :( so good with reanimate and shadow!

@@crucible_of_words Makes sense! Just curious as troll is certainly a strong combo threat as well as wasteland protection. I think I will be trying out a "mono" black shadow list soon :)
In my experience, troll is a bit too slow, you sacrifice a turn 1 play to cycle the troll to get 6/5 on turn 2 which isn’t nothing but I think for shadow, it’s more important to stay layering threats t1 into t2 to apply enough pressure to force interaction, clearing the way for shadow
