Few people know that the original Godzilla was about horror, and while I don't blame them because nearly ALL Godzilla films after the original became nothing but spectacle, I remember the original and this new movie going back to its horror roots has me excited.
Right! The original Godzilla was a really grim and serious movie. New school fans are all about the spectacle and constant monster battles as opposed to the human drama that is important in a Godzilla movie for balance. They would be bored with the original, where Godzilla only has around 7 minutes of screen time total and the rest of it is the story of how Japan is struggling to deal with this latest calamity that has befallen them. I'm keen to see where this movie goes with the return to the roots.
In the right hands, various talented people working in cinema have proven just how far you can stretch a dollar. 'Looking' big budget does not always translate into quality.
If this is low budget, this has to be the best low budget cg I've ever seen. Looks very real while Marvel looks EXTREMELY cartoony. And the dude that said this was low budget was probably MSheU fangirl. THIS is art. HAIL TO THE KING, BABY!!!
Marvel CG isn’t expensive because it’s high-quality, it’s expensive because they have the VFX houses make like 30 variations of each scene so they can pick and choose which ones to use later. Literally the opposite of going in with a clear vision. It’s also why the CGI looks like shit, would YOU put in the effort to make things look good when you’re ALREADY time-crunched and need to grind out another dozen variants of the same scene, most of which you KNOW will be discarded anyways? When you actually have a limited budget and know you can only afford to re-do your CGI so many times, you’re going to put in the effort to make sure you get it right on the first try.
I swear, when you mentioned the comment about low budget I felt it was from those that are now so used to CGI looking cartoon like, that if it looks realistic they think it’s low budget.
Everyone I saw who has watched and reviewed trailers all agreed that the VFX looks staggeringly good. That guy on Twitter doesn’t know what he’s talking about.
The VFX do not look low budget at all, I think they’re made to look like the old low budget live action Godzilla movies but with a better overall appearance and details. So not quite so cheesy.
Honestly that doesn't look low budget to me was the CGI for godzilla looks really good Is better than the VFX effects work for every shitty Marvel movie.
The trailer looks great. The Hollywood ones were getting more stupid, although they haven’t put me off completely. A Godzilla from Japan just feels like it could be better.
I've never seen a non-western movie in a theater before. Will this movie have sub-titles? Or do they usually dub these type of movies in theaters for english speaking audiences?
For a big-name title like this I'd expect them to have it dubbed. The bigger question is whether they will source the cast from Hollywood or use established voice actors.
It looks amazing. Low budget my arse. I love how the eyes appear like he's looking toward something else. Looking down & ahead. Like he sees people running with the intent to go after people.
they say this may be a remake of the original B&W film from the the themes, tone and design. Ive never watched the original and if this is something that is close to that im intrigued, looking forward and 100% for it.
Aftermath of Godzilla’s attack a news reporter interviews Thomas the tank engine after his close encounter with Godzilla. Reporter: Thomas please tell me what did Godzilla do to you?! Thomas: he took my first car and threw it over there than he took my second car and threw it over there!
Part of this film looking as good as it does I woukd imagine was time and having the right people working on this film. One of things brought up with The Flash looking as rough as it did was not only not having enough time for the film's scenes but some of those scenes they might not have had the right people working on the project as some of the types of shots not every studio can do well. Which gave me the impression that while VFX might be a style of film making it seems to have more in common with comic books and art in general and as many know not all artists are created equal. So hats off to the artists for Godzilla Minus One.
wtf is everyone's talking about? he just looks like what a modern day toho zilla would look like in a modern day movie, shin is the horrific one. Stop being edgy, its embarrassing.
Just a thought Mr H but the first image does have an air of man in a suit about it. The neck panelling, could be done that way to allow the actor to see through a suit and then have a CGI overlay. Just a thought as I say, as it's probably all CGI at this point.
The shadowing IS a very important element adding depth, dimension, making it seem more realistic. These couple of scenes, pics, look good so far. Not cheesy.
Whoever said that this was low budget CGI must work for Disney/Marvel and is just REALLY fucking jealous that VFX in a Godzilla movie tops EVERYTHING that Disney/Marvel has put out in the last 3 years.
I agree with you Mr H. Anyone who thinks this VFX looks low budget, is a Marvel/DC VFX fanboy LOL 😂 - because this looks amazing! It blows away the Marvel/DC shite we’ve been getting that’s for sure.
The sheer devastation in this movie is immense. He literally is a walking nuclear blast, trashing everything around him like it's nothing to him. This is gonna be incredible to watch.
Someone needs to do a spoof where Mr. H’s commentary is used from this video but using Pee-Wee Herman’s Big Adventure movie end during the studio chase scene.
This is just the beginning (hopefully) of a new shared universe for Godzilla. We'll prolly see him square up with more Kaiju later down the line but if the rumors are true, he might fight another unmutated member of his species in this film.
It does look like a man in a suit, but that's great honestly. It looks amazing. So maybe those low budget comments are actually positive because it doesnt look CG?
The VFX, right along with everything they’ve revealed so far, looks absolutely incredible. Naysayers are nothing but trolls.
He looks amazing Seems be almost perfect blend from old movies to modern IMO
same 👍

It doesn't look low budget at all, it look perfect, I can't wait for this movie to come out ❤
In the right hands, various talented people working in cinema have proven just how far you can stretch a dollar. 'Looking' big budget does not always translate into quality.
Facts
This looks like it's going to be the best Godzilla movie ever! His design reminds me of the Hesei era.
I get more Heisei than Monsterverse Goji in the design
True horror is how cute Godzilla looks while holding that train.
If this is low budget CGI, then I wanna know how I can in contact with the VFX artist! To me this doesn't look low budget, it looks incredible!
This Godzilla has one of the most sadistic smiles. It would even make The Joker terrified.
I think it looks great! I find it unbelievable one guy did the VFX.
If this is low budget, this has to be the best low budget cg I've ever seen. Looks very real while Marvel looks EXTREMELY cartoony. And the dude that said this was low budget was probably MSheU fangirl. THIS is art. HAIL TO THE KING, BABY!!!

I love my Godzilla dark....cant wait for this
Everyone I saw who has watched and reviewed trailers all agreed that the VFX looks staggeringly good. That guy on Twitter doesn’t know what he’s talking about.
Whoever said it looks "low budget " must've thought Pacific Rim : Uprising was a masterpiece 🙄
Fuck outta here , Godzilla looks AMAZING!
That facial design is amazing
This looks like a sequel to the Heisei series - Godzilla Junior.
Low budget = good cg with caring team
High budget = some excuse of why things look wrong (DC, Marvel/Disney)
Lol Toho did so good here
It doesn't look low budget at all. They just went with different VFX techniques.
This new Godzilla design is wicked sick! His spikes are so extreme, his claws are sinister. I love it!
It's the original Godzilla design
That first pic, his face reminded me of heisei goji
Low budget my ass. The G Man looks amazing and the trailer is terrifying. Time to bring horror back to this genre!!
Leave it to TOHO to give us Godzilla fans a Slam Dunk.
Again I love how this is a remake of 1954 just set right after the war ended the bombs dropped
looks like them Godzilla from the 80's and 90's
Godzilla film looks AMAZING! ...bring it on!
The King has returned! Can't wait to see this movie and Monarch Legacy of Monsters!
The texture is done really well, realistic looking and faithful to the old design. I don't have a problem with it 👍
The VFX do not look low budget at all, I think they’re made to look like the old low budget live action Godzilla movies but with a better overall appearance and details. So not quite so cheesy.
The design is like the Heisei and Legendary Godzillas combined. Cool
Gonna be absolute fantastic!
Best Godzilla design so far.
Godzilla Minus One is a god for nihilists. Purely destructive.
The effects look fantastic.
I love how reminiscent of the Heisei design this is, which just reinforces the Heisei version as the definitive reference point for Godzilla.
To be sure! Can’t wait for it.
@@hotrod5150 hey I know you!

I can't wait! I'm ready to see Kung Fu fighting version as well. Remember when he used to taunt his opponents?😂
I am very excited for this movie

Looks amazing. The production quality is out of this world.
this looks like the godzilla movie I've always wanted.
Godzilla minus one: ye>
Monarch legacy of monsters: 🤨
Looks fantastic can’t wait!
The face partly reminds me of the Stan Winston design to an extent.
It's CG but it looks like a man in a suit so "Best of both worlds."
The trailer looks great. The Hollywood ones were getting more stupid, although they haven’t put me off completely.
A Godzilla from Japan just feels like it could be better.
There was one RUclipsr, who said the old suits look better than the monster verse
There’s a lot of weird people out there
It's Godzilla - Negative One 😂

@Uzarran leave it in Japanese with English subtitles.
It looks amazing. Low budget my arse. I love how the eyes appear like he's looking toward something else. Looking down & ahead. Like he sees people running with the intent to go after people.
The Big G looks immense.
I think it looks great!
It has the "looks" and stance from the old movies that remind small bit of a guy in a monster suit, i think that's what people mean of "bad vfx".
That design is definitely inspired by Heisei the most IMO.
The design alone is my favorite, aside from Miregoji, and Doughergoji.
Looks good to me.
Low budget, my foot. That looks great to me so far. Now let's wait and see if the movie itself is as good as the VFX look to be!
And I am not a fan of Legendary Godzilla's roar. They should have kept the authentic roar. That's one of the things that makes Godzilla an original.
they say this may be a remake of the original B&W film from the the themes, tone and design. Ive never watched the original and if this is something that is close to that im intrigued, looking forward and 100% for it.
Godzilla & 40k lore vids make the day go by so much faster!

The fact that it takes place during broad daylight and I can actually see everything makes this better than any of the garbage Legendary movies.

VFX looks amazing!! 😱 I can't wait to see it!!! SO EXCITED!!👀👀
It looks like the spent 1 Trillion on VFX
He looks good to me 💨💨💨💯
I’m sooooo looking forward to seeing this one
Whoever said that this was low budget CGI must work for Disney/Marvel and is just REALLY fucking jealous that VFX in a Godzilla movie tops EVERYTHING that Disney/Marvel has put out in the last 3 years.
Reminds me of the design for godzilla used on the cover of Godzilla At Worlds End. Except here his dorsal plates are more aggressive
He's got the 1985 look.
I love that I can actually see him compared to the monster monsterverse godzilla
THIS is the Godzilla we wanted!!!!!!!!
Does anyone know how tall Godzilla Minus one will be?
Minus One Gojira will be the same size as Gojira 54 supposedly. So roughly over 50 meters tall.
@@emmanuelwilliams4957 Thanks!

you can see some blurry parts that are visible, not perfect but the correct look of what fans want from Godzilla.
The head takes from the Godzilla from Biolante and Godzlla vs Spacegodzilla.
I love in the first still you can see the clock tower under the right arm. Details
The people saying it looks like bad CG are lunatics. That looks fantastic.
He looks ok nothing new can’t go wrong with kind of the same look
I'm a diehead Godzilla fan. But I think I'm over Godzilla attacking people in films now.
Bring on Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire.
I really do think a enemy for him to fight is missing from this one
This is just the beginning (hopefully) of a new shared universe for Godzilla. We'll prolly see him square up with more Kaiju later down the line but if the rumors are true, he might fight another unmutated member of his species in this film.
Looks like district 9 kind of cgi. Cheap but effective?
It does look like a man in a suit, but that's great honestly. It looks amazing. So maybe those low budget comments are actually positive because it doesnt look CG?
His eyes look super silly. Sorry
The stills do look a little less impressive. Watching the clips of everything in motion looked very good.
That's a Japanese crunchy roll
People are goofball no way it looks like budget CGI. Those same people will say the flash CGI is fine
