*0:07** - EXPLAIN* (there is no voice at the beginning ☹) 2:09 - Damon kicks something with insane rage *3:06** - BANG* (faster than the album version, awesome) 5:20 - oops 6:55 - "this song was written because… because it was" *7:04** - HIGH COOL* (love the way they sing "oOoOo") 7:13 - Damon shows the beauty of his body *10:24** - BAD DAY* (Dave interrupts Damon lol) (I love Graham`s guitar here so much) 11:42 - where are you going, Alex? 14:59 - AAAAAAAAAA *15:09** - OILY WATER* (during this song, people stood up in front of the cameraman and interfered with the shooting ☹ ) 17:20 - No, Damon, no... *19:41** - SHE'S SO HIGH* 20:31 - devil possessed Graham, but he quickly defeated him 21:59 - oh that bass *24:17** - TURN IT UP* (Very dirty, I can hardly make out the melody) 25:46 - Damon attacked Alex and lost!!!!! *27:35** - THERE'S NO OTHER WAY* *31:31** - WEAR ME DOWN* 31:46 - The cameraman wants to film Graham, but he disappeared. And then he appeared... 33:50 - The guy in the nightcap *35:42** - MR. BRIGGS* *39:32** - SLOW DOWN* 40:26 - Damon just sat on the guy who was fixing the wires (or whatever) 40:52 - And then he destroyed the drum set. What a restless child... *42:39** - COME TOGETHER* 44:51 - Damon, leave him alone! 45:45 - Alex threw his bass at Dave 45:50 - Dave threw his drumsticks into the crowd *45:59** - COMMERCIAL BREAK* (I think boys threw away their instruments too early) 46:33 - Damon tears a T-shirt on himself. Why? Because he`s such a brutal man 46:50 - No Damon, not again!!
Amazing seeing this 29 years later. I was at the gig, on my 17th birthday, and Dave Rowntree through his drumsticks into the crowd, at around 47:22 - I caught one and still have it :)
Nice one. Like others here I was also at Reading that year. It was my very first time there when I was a mere 18 year old. I went 7 times in total between 1991 and 1998 (missed 95 as I went to the Phoenix Festival that year). It was a great festival as other have mentioned. Nirvana were great that year, so much better than they were in 1992 when they headlined. Other highlights for me this year were Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr, Silverfish, Chapterhouse, De La Soul, Pop Will Eat Itself, Carter USM, Senseless Things, Ned's Atomic Dustbin, Babes In Toyland, Swervedriver, Mercury Rev and Kingmaker.
Totally forgot about Dinosaur Jr! Chapterhouse were weedy and nearly inaudible from where I was stood. Didn't they make an absolute pig's ear of "Pearl" too? (Their only good song :-))
I always wondered why bits of that performance didn't make it on "Starshaped". Maybe because of a legal issue, or maybe they didn't like their performance ? It's a bit sloppy in places, but really fine. They really were shit scared before the show, and who wouldn't be! It must be so intimidating to play Reading as a young band. The person who shot that is probably the same who shot Nirvana the day before (one of the two amateur shots anyway). Quite similar way of filming.
Video is pretty bloody impressive for 1991. Was a cracking festival that year. Some amazing and legendary performances - Nirvana as mentioned, Gang Starr on the Sunday, Carter's greatest ever Headline slot (sorry James, but everyone went home or sat down, snigger), for me personally the Fat Lady Sings, Fatima Mansions and Senseless Things were a bit bloody special. Plus the whole local Berkshire shoegaze gang were there. I remember Blur being a lot of fun, does Damon puke up being the drum kit at some point?

7:13 - Damon shows the beauty of his body
*10:24** - BAD DAY* (Dave interrupts Damon lol) (I love Graham`s guitar here so much)
11:42 - where are you going, Alex?
14:59 - AAAAAAAAAA
*15:09** - OILY WATER* (during this song, people stood up in front of the cameraman and interfered with the shooting ☹ )
17:20 - No, Damon, no...
*19:41** - SHE'S SO HIGH*
20:31 - devil possessed Graham, but he quickly defeated him
21:59 - oh that bass

Where did Graham go, that was uncanny lol
Thank you very much!😂 What did this guy to Damon?!😅 And where did Graham go? It was really mysterious!

You're so lucky
only the true blur fans love this video
i aspire to have this much energy as damon
Was at this gig. Saturday afternoon at Reading 91. I thought they had great potential then.
Nirvana were the talk of the weekend though
Damn, this is brilliant quality for 1991.
2 days later they released their first studio album...
Wow, oily water sounds completely amazing - they really were genius from early on!
great times... Nirvana on the 23rd and Blur on the 24th... great weekend ! Graham is still the old same great guitarist !
Love these old reading fest gems. Stone Temple Pilot, Blur, Pale Saints, Thin White Rope, Butthole Surfers, etc.
Nirvana!!
The audio on this is surprisingly good considering what it’s recorded on
This is so cool!❤❤ I love Blur!❤

remember that emotion quite clearly on Slow Down

I want it back..
Carter were TERRIBLE. Two old men and a karaoke machine are not entertainment.
Sonic Youth were brilliant though.
why is Damon messing around with the cable guy hahah
45:59 We’ll be right back
The guitar in Bad Day 😎
The fucking madness, proper gig
Oh. This is the part where they started getting drunk before shows. Huh.
I'm allowed a few drinks before I go on, Ivan!
damon looks way skinnier than later 90s
Please tell when time machines are available cuz i absolutely want to go there.
Please let me go with u
Hate to sound like I'm bragging, but I was about two or three or rows from the front during this classic moment
I was there ;-)
27:27
the fuckin moves on Alex!
I was there!!! Only had a stills camera at the time though 😭
2018!
THIS IS SOOOO CHAOTIC OMG AHAHAHA I LOVE IT
THANK YOU!!!!!! :D
Haha, Damon was such a little sh*t!!! (Dave was SOLID on the kit though!)
video clasicc 1991
I remember being very concerned for the drum kit at the time
35:32 Mr. Briggs
45:53 Commercial Break
25:46
why people threw them stuff? lmao
El pedo que tenía encima Damon. Graham firme y Alex y Dave se comieron los grooves. Lastima Albarn por cómo estába, JAJAJAJA.
On the basis of this uninspiring performance who in the crowd would have guessed this band would have gone on and dominated the rest of the decade?
great, great, great upload! Thank you!
It's horrible.
1991? but there are songs of modern life is rubbish
JEduardo2613 a bunch MLR tracks were in Blur setlist since 1990 like Turn It Up, Oily Water, Pressure on Julian and Colin Zeal
+pleudumes wow i didnt know thanks man
