They played a festival in Germany the next day. It's a shorter set, but I feel a better set. Some shows they are more on than others. You can see it also on RUclips.
Just graduated High School 1990. I always wished I had grown up in the 60s because all of my heros Hendrix, Clapton, Page, Iommi, Howe...all came out of that era...I had no idea that I was living through the last great movement in Rock, and in a small way, was a part of it. The 90s were so great on so many levels...it's all just shit now. Literally everything.
Have hope. The reason rock is dead is no one takes the time to listen to new rock. You always listen to the same shit you did 30 years ago. You might find new bands you like
In my modest opinion, NO ONE has ever reached or surpassed this damn wrecking creative distorted universal sound, that level of immediate “face to face” expression, freestyle approach to dogmatic state of mind. Kurt’s “cryptic” lyrics reveal the soul making it “naked” & so it resonates unwaveringly indomitably strong like a spiritual riffle which leaves you without a breath and words. I’ve been listening to them for years and literally nothing has ever changed in my perception of this unique and very influential band. I can almost recognize their chords, rhythm sections and vocal parts in many alternative bands worldwide. From Seattle to Moldavia. ❤Awesome indeed. And I’m so happy about it. ✨💫
The band that rocked my childhood, today i'm 29 and i'm into a long shit list of genres and artists, yet Nirvana still rocks my world, cheers from Morocco to the uploader, that's a fine bootleg my friend
I clearly remember Nirvana on the Friday afternoon at Reading. There was a big buzz around them. I'd never heard any of their songs but they had an instant charisma like the greats possess.
Video and audio recording is something like timemachine. You can see and listen to Nirvana through times. It's a miracle. We don't lose Kurt, we know him and his art. (sorry for bad English, not native)
His voice was still good back then. Because he was not stoned so much as he was in the late 1993. Also this version of Come as You Are is my favorite one! 15:09
Kurt sending all his love to the crowd playing Love Buzz off the stage...I'm bursting into tears! He was,is and always will be THE BEST OF THE 90'S MUSIC! Period!
Seriously, they need to release this fucking concert already, they released LITERALLY everything except a high-definition, professionally filmed DVD of this particular concert. Didn't a member of the Vaselines join them on stage? Didn't Kurt call that the best moment of his life? What's the fucking hold up.
This was before they blew up. literally just before. they headlined this the following year and filmed it. though i think kurt sounds better in this and isn't as wacked on heroin
Such a troubled mind, such a beautiful and creative mind. It took all our anger from our hard to fit teenage years and filtered it into shout and music. I was fortunate to be part of it, to dance to nonsense, to sing, jump and push all over to feel part of a universe that unveiled ahead of me. It was wonderful, I enjoyed every second of my troubled teenage years, thank you Kurt.
Well said. These songs are so Nostalgic to me now. I used to smoke bud and listen to Nevermind while trying to put together a jigsaw puzzle... weird memories everytime I hear this music!
2 and a half years was the time Kurt Cobain had in the mainstream spotlight of the world. What that this band managed to achieve in that amount of time is absolutely staggering. Talk about a legacy.
For those that weren't around, this is before Nevermind was released, Nirvana were not unknown but early in the bill and for many of us, this was the first time we head them live- blew us away - Ace !!
Considering the fact that Nevermind hadn't even come out yet and Nirvana had only been playing nightclubs & universities up to this point, they had to have been mentally wigging out up on stage playing to such a gigantic crowd. Crowds they'd eventually outgrow all on their own as the headliners for their own individual tours, who wouldn't need a festival in order to play to such enormous crowds.
I was at this festival in 91, and saw this live, I think it was around midday and it was a great set. I'd been collecting Sub Pop records and bought Bleach on really limited green vinyl a while before, no-one had heard of them. I thought, yeah this band is going be be huge. So when they announced they were playing Reading had to get a ticket. Not long after this festival, Smells Like Teen Spirit came out and they were huge. I remember Kurt jumping into the drum kit at the end - great ending but wow, it looked painful.
Walkmans were a fucking brilliant thing. They served us well eh....Reliable n pretty sturdy little things. The actual cassettes were also fucking marvellous. 😁♥️
Smells Like Teen Spirit it's a classic but when you listen to it live you realize how the production was decisive on the massive success of the song! God bless Butch Vig and Andy Wallace...the song was too raw and punk they made it very anthemic!
Igor Wright - Andy Wallace was a last minute choice for the mixing apparently too! Supposedly, Kurt sought him out after discovering he had mixed the first "trilogy" of Slayer. Upsetting and ironically that afterwards, Kurt deemed it too slick of a mix.
Kurt was pretty much pissed off with Wallace's mix of Nevermind but I guess that's exactly what made the album so pop. I have both mixes (Vig's and Wallace's) and I do prefer Butch one, but it's a lot less comercial than Andy's.
Get your point, but at the same time this is music industri. Doubt nevermind would ever be as powerful if Andy didnt master it. Love nirvana and nevermind

Good performance all around, one of Kurt's best vocal performances.

I love when hes raspy, more punky

@Jimmy Durex Dumb ass
I wonder if this crowd knew what they were really hearing! They were hearing the anthem to a new type of music that changed music FOREVER!!!
THANK YOU NIRVANA
Did you hear how quiet they were during Smells like teen spirit? They hadnt heard it before, it was released the next month, nobody knew how huge it would become
I was there. We knew they were something special belive me
I was there we new…
@@kilburncounty indeed though I preferred Mudhoney
He sounded amazing when singing come as you are
What I especially love bout this performance is that it's outdoors AND IN DAYLIGHT. Don't see that very often at a Nirvana gig
Itchy Dupa cause after this they headlined every show they did! This was literally days before they exploded!!
They played a festival in Germany the next day. It's a shorter set, but I feel a better set. Some shows they are more on than others. You can see it also on RUclips.

@@bradford_shaun_murraythat’s the interpretive dancer, Tommy. He just dances around the entire time.
It’s not ALL shit, you just have to look around.
Yeah there’s a lot of good bands around, you must not be looking hard enough
I was part of the underground banjo movement of the mid to late 90s so I don't know what you're talking about man. We was lit.
Great van fleet . Metalica . Rage against the machine etc etc
I feel similarly about Pixies.
uploader should pin this
Reading your pompous writing....
If I could go back in time I would travel to this concert, grab a beer and let Nirvana destroy my brain.
If I could go back in time I would save Kurt or Freddie Mercury.
Cliff Burton and Dimebag Darrell and Layne Staley too
When this happened I was still a sperm
LOL, I was 14, had no way to get there to england from north carolina, too broke
+craig Mitchell well at least you're not too broke to have a computer now
so horny...
me too
i was just a thought
The band that rocked my childhood, today i'm 29 and i'm into a long shit list of genres and artists, yet Nirvana still rocks my world, cheers from Morocco to the uploader, that's a fine bootleg my friend
Kurt always looked so badass! As a kid I never knew about his “problems “ or that he didn’t like the fame. To me he was a rockstar and one cool dude!
Only Kurt Cobain would wear a leather jacket in August.
Well it is England after all..
The wheather looks like shit.
I've been in England in the summer, I wouldn't wear any kind of jacket.
TSOL
And where are you from? If you are from Canada, of course you are okay with this wheather, but if you are from Greece, meh.
I'm from Bermuda, so I know heat and humidity.
28:57 damn boy, you're pretty
For me this is the best Nirvana concert ever.. Crowd,, Kurt vocals, Tony's moves, Dave's speech, Novoselic's hair... and the Fucking end!! oooooh boy!
come as you are opens a whole universe ... it's like we live inside a waterfall, with all that watery reverberation ... what a masterpiece ...
I wonder whatever happened to Tony the Interpretive Dancer. Bless him.
***** no, I didn't mean it like that at all. I just meant it affectionately. I have idea at all where he is or what he's doing now.
***** lol, it's not weird, it's just a very English phrase, I think!

I clearly remember Nirvana on the Friday afternoon at Reading. There was a big buzz around them. I'd never heard any of their songs but they had an instant charisma like the greats possess.
Who is that in your profile picture again?

Oh Lord please, change the laws of physics, so time machines are somehow possible.
AGREED SO MUCH....
Maybe one day....
Video and audio recording is something like timemachine.
You can see and listen to Nirvana through times.
It's a miracle. We don't lose Kurt, we know him and his art.

I think this was the peak of Kurt's voice.
His voice was still good back then. Because he was not stoned so much as he was in the late 1993. Also this version of Come as You Are is my favorite one! 15:09
From India i am happy to see this of music in 2016 .,.. i wish i was there 25 years ago this is something i need in my life
Kurt sending all his love to the crowd playing Love Buzz off the stage...I'm bursting into tears! He was,is and always will be THE BEST OF THE 90'S MUSIC! Period!
We called that kind of dancing an acid trip in the 1970’s. What a hell of a show
I will forever be jealous of Dancing Tony. Dancing Tony is a legend.
After that, music would never been the same.
Really cool of Maynard to come out and dance with Nirvana!
Nirvana live in 1991, there is nothing better in the history of the world
Seriously, they need to release this fucking concert already, they released LITERALLY everything except a high-definition, professionally filmed DVD of this particular concert. Didn't a member of the Vaselines join them on stage? Didn't Kurt call that the best moment of his life? What's the fucking hold up.
you forgot Roseland
+Joshua Stephens All true, and yes, about time.
Reading 91 > Reading 92
+Joshua Stephens This was during the day they probably didnt professionally film it
This was before they blew up. literally just before. they headlined this the following year and filmed it. though i think kurt sounds better in this and isn't as wacked on heroin
What I like the most about Nirvana shows is that they don't give a fuck
Nah. They just make it look easy. That is genius
I'm danceing like tony when nobody at home Lol
jajaja me too
Then ur cute😁
My band just got my friend to dance like dancing tony we are gonna use him at a show
Me to
Same here.
Watching Kurt do his thing is like watching one of those old Blues or Appalachian folk musicians, the realness and rawness of it is hypnotizing
We need a 2020 interview with tommy the interpretive dancer stat
We got it. Watch the documentary "when Nirvana came to the UK"
I felt the same dude. Its a nice vision you did

🎸R.I.P.Kurt Cobain✝️🎸
2 and a half years was the time Kurt Cobain had in the mainstream spotlight of the world. What that this band managed to achieve in that amount of time is absolutely staggering. Talk about a legacy.
For those that weren't around, this is before Nevermind was released, Nirvana were not unknown but early in the bill and for many of us, this was the first time we head them live- blew us away - Ace !!
And then at 25:07, the angels lifted his hair and revealed his beautiful face.
if i could go back in time just one single time in my life I dont think I could resist picking a nirvana show
When reading was actually about rock
39:07 is where he actually jumps into the drums
This footage is pure gold
Kurt was definitely one of us.
I was there in the moshpit 21 years old seeing Nirvana for the first time having the time of my life ❤🔥

Моя любимая группа! Все честно и по-настоящему! Вечная память стилю и голосу Курта! ✊ БЕЛАРУСЫ МАЮЦЬ РАЦЫЮ! ✌️✌️
None other than Dave Grohl supports your theory here.

i love how he deals with guitar failures and improvises so well. And the solos are amazing!
Do you still have that vinyl?
In August 1991, they were relatively unknowns. A couple of months later, less so, with "Smells like teen spirit" song and video playing everywhere.
28:44 “This is known as the blues scale”
Big Quack more like the grunge scale!
"Here we are now, entertain us" just put it all into perspective back then. It all made sense.
holy crap. it makes so much sense realizing how different of a time as well as the style of living of the 90s

@Roberto Gutierrez ta que hermoso tus recuerdos.
Ya se.. Q chido haber estado aahi.
Igor Wright there is another version of necermind than the one in store ???
Spot on. The studio treatment of Drain You was really nice but seems to have none of those dynamics live. Arguably over produced.
Get your point, but at the same time this is music industri. Doubt nevermind would ever be as powerful if Andy didnt master it. Love nirvana and nevermind
That front row is wild! The 90s was such a great time for festivals, I sure do miss that scene.
