Another person was the baritone Riccardo Stracciari from and earlier era. He was born in 1875 but even those 1917 recordings show something special. He had a long career and even when he was past 50 his singing was incredible. (1927) recordings.
I was present for the signing at the historical photo gallery at the Met. I met and spoke with her twice before in Philadelphia. Each time, she was so easy to speak with and eager to discuss highlights of her career. What a great ambassador of her art. We were so fortunate to have experienced her sublime vocal creations.
Referring to the comment below regarding Stracciari, I regard him as perhaps the best operatic baritone in his particular repertoire of the period 1915 to 1930 or so. He kept his voice in marvelous condition, so I am told, even after this period & has some fine recordings earlier on as well.
