Wow! So interesting to hear all this stories she narrated and also it created really special feeling when you hear her voice. She's so sincere and open person. There're no doubts why she had such incredible voice and people were going crazy about her. When I listen to the recording of "Sola perduta, abbandonata" I always cry. And other recordings of her singing makes me crying. That's unbelievable talent she had. I wish I could hear her voice live.

I'm past 80 now and saw her in the late 1950's, and still remember the thrill of it and her back then.

@@irina6377 Oh, I heard and saw her first in Tosca with Di Stefano in the late 1950's, in her prime and again in Boheme later, yes she mentions the great American tenor Richard Tucker here, they did sing a lot together in this country, I liked her no matter who she sang with, she sounded in the opera house, much like her recordings.

Thank you for the interview, I had seen her in 1959 singing Tosca with Di Stefano, I was age 19, it was in Italy and she was terrific and got great applause, a terrific ovation I'll not forget ever!

I knew that many of us came out for the book signing, but had not over 1,000 as Mr. Jellenek stated. But, it is not surprising that this wonderful singer and human being drew such love. Even with all of that attention, she was so kind to fully discuss my assertion that we all missed so much as the Met never mounted a Wally for her. She was very expressive of her regrets regarding this. She radiated kindness.

    Tebaldi had a stunning voice

Both , Tebaldi and Callas had very different voices and repertory, Tebaldi only sang Italian repertoire and French, Callas sang everything, like both singers, loving hearing Callas in Argentina and Mexico. Both were amazing, Callas was more like a movie star, both getting old normally lost their voices. The LORD have both singing in Heaven 🙏

Sorry, I meant that she was so generous with her time during the book signing that it was hard to believe she received over a thousand guests. But, I have no doubt I was among over a thousand admirers.

@@tomsalmon6334 Unfortunately it was not just publicity. They were both appearing at a concert and agreed on the number of arias and encores and unfortunately Tebaldi sang an extra encore. It was very real and lead to stupid comments by Callas and missed opportunities.
