For AM4 and Intel LGA 1700 users, it is best to stay put on your current platform for now. Maybe switch from a 4 core to 8 core processor on your current platform if required. But apart from that you should not be spending any more money. It will not be a financially wise decision.

12400f is the ryzen 5 5600 version of intel now lol its definetely best i5 value cpu of lga 1700

@@shiveringisles3509 I wouldn't upgrade a CPU, a better graphics card and higher screen resolution will stop your CPU from being a potential bottleneck.
If it's just for gaming and everyday use, a better CPU won't make a big difference especially if you've already got a PCIE gen 4 capable platform.

I'll tell you the story of buying computer components. I didn't have much money for a motherboard, I could choose between ASUS PRIME Z490A and ASUS PRIME H610M-A D4. In the end, I chose the more reliable option on Z490 for the same price as H610. I just wanted to use powerful Core i5 and I thought H610 is very bad and unreliable for Hexacore CPU. Also the H610 was MicroATX while Z490 board was Standard ATX with lots of PCIE lines, Thunderbolt 3, Aura RGB and other good stuff.
No, 12400 at 5ghz is much better at 1 and 0.1% low than 7500 in 8 out of 10 games, is as close to 7600x as possible and supports ddr5 mem, 5600 is head and shoulders below that because average 12400 at 5ghz = stock 12700k +- a few %, so you are writing nonsense.

I have an i5-6400 and I will update it these days, these are the prices in my local trustful store:
12400F $200 (or $38.50 for 6 months)
13400F $270 (or $52.00 for 6 months)
14400F $270 (or $52.00 for 6 months)
I know that for any of those... it will be a huge update from a 2015 cpu, my question is, which one you recommend? 12400F is $70 cheaper than the others, but as a monthly payment, is just $13.50.
Paying all at once will hurt me (and I think I can't), but sounds really good those $70 less.
Paying in 6 months is my better choice.
As you can see from this benchmark there is no sense for spending extra 70 dollars for ~7% more fps. And you have to be aware of that the card which is used in the tests is RTX 4090 (monster card), so probably you have a weaker GPU where the difference is even smaller. In your position I will definetly go for 12400F. In this price range the best pick i AMD Ryzen 5600 IMO ;)
That settles it i'm keeping my 12th gen and wait for 15th gen with the new chipset.

i think to find difference in performance on a cpu, you should play games like valorant lol csgo apex. this games with such a graphics demands are most supplied by gpu
11th gen chip wasnt power unlocked, it should be atleast less than 5% behind 12400f
13 e 14 tem mais nucleos, o 12400f é 6/12. apesar dos nucleos de eficiencia não fazerem tanta diferença em jogos são bons para outras aplicações e ajuda no multitarefa.
eu sinceramente escolheria um 12600kf que está mais barato que um 14400f e é melhor. se a pessoa quiser entrar na LGA 1700 e pagar pouco seria melhor um 12400f mesmo que está bem mais barato, não compensa o 13 e o 14 ja que é melhor pegar um 12600kf ou 13600kf.

The buggest improvement with the 13400f was the e cores. Sure they didnt work in games but thwy took care of everything else in the background while you gamed leading to flawless gaming that felt better then many flagship cpus because it limited stuttering and other issues. Of course i mean past flagship cpus lol.
Im currently using r5 1500x and kinda want to change to intel. But sadly intel prices is really high here. Even i5 11400F is way higher than R5 5600 lol. I guess i'll just upgrade to 5600
Seeing that makes me beleive that my low end 13600k 5.6ghz p-core oc should be a bottleneck anywhere for my rtx 3080 at 1440p.

It is not enough to go from I5-10400f to any new I5 for 1440p gaming. TOO much investment for dead platform for 10-20fps at best . I have to buy new motherboard, RAM and CPU and next gen I can't upgrade to new CPU or go I7- 13700 and chasing good cooler and making my PC heat producing apparatus where just CPU spends over 200W for few frames and btw spending extra for expensive CPU. No man some series are just needless for gaming. Better one good series every 3 years than weak revisions every 11 months .

can people actually tell the difference while they're playing? it's like comparing 4 identical cars going different speeds between 100mph - 110mph. unless you're a pro, i don't see how you can tell a difference.

@@whitedevil2 i5 11400F is not enough for 60 frames in Starfield. If you don't unlock power in the BIOS. This is a real problem for a shooter, I played like this for several months with the brakes.

Zotac. The temperatures of the graphics card are perfectly fine. It is due to the case Hyte 60 is designed for pure water cooling.

I can't believe that the 12400 somewhere "behind the scenes" dramatically lost performance and merged the average frame by 9 units. and why is your 4090 so hot? up to 84 degrees at 80% load and consumption of only 220 watts? they are cold, all with their super excessive cooling
