Just saw Peter and the current Herman's Hermits last night in Sandy Springs, GA. He still has a very strong voice and puts on a great show. Very interactive with the audience.
I met Peter Noone over 10 years ago, when he toured along with The Turtles on their Happy Together tour. What a sweet, congenial man and still looking the same as when me and my friend, Debbie, 2 crazy 10 and 11 year olds used to sit in her room and cry as we listened to him sing "The End of the World" off their greatest hits album back in the 60's.
Pete cowap taught me how to play puff the magic dragon on the guitar when I was about 7-8yrs old, he was a family friend and spent a few xmas with us in the 80s, was really nice humble man. ❤ RIP PETE COWAP 🙏 😢
I once threw away an Encyclopedia Of Rock Music because Herman's Hermits we're not listed in the H Section. However, they were mentioned unceremoniously in the back of the encyclopedia in a brief sentence: Herman's Hermits: One of the lesser talents from the British Invasion. Not very complimentary, to say the least, and blatantly bias for a so-called music reference book. They really were talented musicians and had many top-selling hits.
I have Peter Noone's autograph. I got it at a concert that my wife bought me tickets for (3rd row seats). The first concert I had ever gone to was a Herman's Hermits concert (it was a free outdoors concert) and I absolutely loved the band. Grew up with it (I am 37 atm) and my wife for a Father's Day gift had gotten me those concert tickets (about 4 years ago). I regularly play them to my kids and they love singing along.
love all their songs.. my faves are: Your Hand in Mine side B of the 45 I'm Into Something Good which is also a fave, I'll Never Dance Again, One Little Packet of Cigarettes I still have HH on Tour LP, Museum LP, the ABCO Greatest Hits LP , Peter Noones solo LP and some 45s. And...I'm 67 yrs young lol. Met Barry's Hermits @ Celebration Lounge🎉 in Chicago in the 80s. Small intimate venue. Spoke with Lek and gave him some memorabilia from back in the day. They guys were all so nice! 😊❤
Well done. I'd like to add that future Led Zeppelin Member John Paul Jones played an important role with Herman's Hermits, from "Just a Little Bit Better" (Fall 1965) on, writing the arrangements for all their material. This was especially important from "Dandy" (Fall 1966) on, when the songs were often orchestrated, Jone was great at writing for strings and got lots of praise for "No Milk Today (early 1967).
Peter continues to perform absolutely TREMENDOUS concerts. His sound and voice are Amazing. And, his humor is stand-up routine top level. We Never miss his local performances. 👍🎶👍
I remember my older sister was quite a fan of Herman's Hermits, especially Peter Noone. She was 16, and had the LP's and 45's, and pictures of Peter on her bedroom wall. I thought he was a nice guy, too. I loved their music, too, especially "I'm Henry the Eighth, I am". I'm glad Peter's still going strong.
I saw them in Tulsa. Peter Noone was pretty funny, he could have been a good stand up comedian. They gave a great live performance, especially for that time.
Thank You for vindicating me regarding Keith Hopwood's use of a handkerchief around his guitar bridge to play "Mrs. Brown You've . . ."!! Back in the day when I mentioned that to our garage bands guitar player I was told that I was full of $hit.
Lek did that with the guitar n cloth on Mrs Brown ... when I saw them in the 80s. It was great.! Celebration Lounge was small like a pub style lounge with a small stage.
Barry owns the rights to the name Herman's Hermits inherited by the amazing guitarist the late Lek Leckenby. Noone can't play in the UK as Herman's Hermits starring Peter Noone. He took them to court in the USA to try to gain the rights to the original name even though HE left the band voluntarily. Herman's Hermits have been performing non stop worldwide since the 60's. I know, Barry, Karl, and the late Lek are personal friends, fantastic people and gifted musicians.
Well said Elaine I’ve been a Hermans Hermits fan from day one, Peter left Hermans Hermits to pursue a solo career mainly on the advice of Mickie Most but alas because that did not take off he decided to go back doing Hermans Hermits songs and tours. But if it had not been for Barry, lek ( bless him) Hermans Hermits would not still be around they worked bloody hard to keep the band on the road and it’s why Barry continues to perform over 200 concerts a year. and it’s about time this group was inducted into the Rock n Roll hall of Fame they’ve sold over 80 million records I think that in its self is no mean feat when you considered the critics as Barry said slatted them at every opportunity, I’ve been friends with the band for many years and they are great people and very talented and great musicians and I share the same birth date as Karl green 31 July. I follow them still to this day and all there solo work ie Karl has released a few CDs and Keith Hopwood has just released his very first album check it out Keithhopwood .com they will always be to me the best band of the sixties so much fun and laughter and that’s what music should be all about.

I don't personally know Keith, and I had a "discussion" with Peter on FB, didn't end well. Lek and Barry stayed at my house while touring the States in the 80's, and I've been a houseguest at Lek's house in Manchester invited by his widow, Leonie, 2 years after Lek died. My late husband was road manager for HH in the 70's, he considered Lek his best friend. Leonie called him the day Lek died. You're right, Barry has worked steadilyto this day, Noone caused him and Karl so much trouble. Mickey wouldn't let them expand musically. I have no clue why they're not in the R&R Hall of Fame.

I’m not surprised your FB chat with Peter not ending well, I think deep down he regretted leaving Hermans Hermits and becoming what they call talk of the town act where as the band wanted to go in a different direction.and if you listen the there album WHALE OF A TALE an album that was going to be released under the name SOURMASH but got mothballed and was later released on cd on Keith’s website along side a couple of other CDs WATERLOO ROAD and THE VAULT with songs on which was intended for for Hermans Hermits but again it never happened. lek was a lovely man and a very underrated guitarist and it so sad 😞 when he passed away but thankfully Barry carried on the good work. Noone doesn’t like to give credit to any of the other guys. If you listen to the intro on the extended track, it’s obvious that Lek is doing the count in.

Ah yes, Peter Noone and his storytelling hermits show how romantic 60’s British music is. But, to this day, however they got the name Herman’s Hermits remains a grey area.

It’s always baffled me why Herman’s Hermits & The Dave Clark Five were so big in the USA… here in the U.K. while they were both quite successful bands they paled into insignificance compared to the likes of The Animals, The Stones, The Beatles & The Who
An interesting collection of facts! But instead of giving you a list of favorite songs, let me help you make your voice tracks sound better. I spent 30+ years on the air and studied voice acting under the guy who was the original voice of Yogi Bear (among many others), Daws Butler. When you record your voice, try placing the microphone to the SIDE of your face (at roughly a 45 degree angle to your nose, either to your left or your right - whichever works best for you, as you face straight ahead), and back it away a couple of inches from where you put it for this video, rather than placing it directly in front of you. You shouldn’t need to back it off more than four or five inches from your mouth. This will help you with two problems. 1) it will help stop the “pops” and “booms” (known as “plosives”), when you say words that contain the letters P, T and B. 2) It will help eliminate the breath sounds that occurred when your breath directly hit the mic, as long as you face straight ahead. Listen to this video again, and you’ll hear what I mean. Professionals learn how to say these things without the pops, booms and breath. But until you do, place your mic where I told you and these problems will quickly disappear. You’ll sound much better on your next one. And last I heard, the record company spelled “Abkco” was pronounced as a WORD, as though the letter “k” wasn’t there at all - like “AB - co”. Your writing and delivery were good. You just need to fix these mic problems and you’ll sound much more professional!

My brother-in-law, David CB Rochman, had a relative who was a Hermit, but I don't know which one. As a Hermit, he was regarded as a sort of demi-god in their Northern hometown.
Too much emphasis on who played what. Not the Monkees. Peter always had very good musicians and you can hear it on their early live performances. "No Milk Today" was a masterpiece.
It was common practice. Many so called boy bands used studio musicians at the insistence of the record company who wanted more "professional" sounding recordings. Even vocal groups often used session singers instead of actual group members to "smooth out" the sound. This was often done without notifying group members. I agree with you. It was outright fraud.
Hermits are reclusive and seldom seen by people -- Hardly the qualities of a pop band. I've always wondered why they refer to themselves as "hermits." Does anyone know?

Your material is good but I wish you would enunciate your words more clearly. Some of your words/phrases are just not well spoken and on top of that it sounds like you might want to upgrade your mic.
They had 18 top forty hits, 11 top tens and two number ones. They appeared in three movies and still sell hundreds of thousands of tickets every year! That’s why.

Peter is amazing, he still sounds great, I'm a Hotel Director on cruise ships and he has performed many times onboard, he is a great guys.

Too much emphasis on who played what. Not the Monkees. Peter always had very good musicians and you can hear it on their early live performances. "No Milk Today" was a masterpiece.

Well then stop listening to music all together. Almost all groups used studio musicians at some point.
It was common practice. Many so called boy bands used studio musicians at the insistence of the record company who wanted more "professional" sounding recordings. Even vocal groups often used session singers instead of actual group members to "smooth out" the sound. This was often done without notifying group members. I agree with you. It was outright fraud.
