Yes, the reason Ifa is so big on elder respect is cause Yorubaland is big on elder respect. And vice versa. It's more than a faith, it's a lifestyle. Thank you for the lessons, Ase.

An Alejo can salute an olorisa. Nothing wrong with it.

Ashe! this is very true, respect/saluting elders is in every African culture! being from a Rwandan household, the transition from Christianity to Ifa when it came to respect/greeting elders properly was so easy cuz my parents already raised me that way 🙌🏾

Alaafia and Good morning. I agree with you. If Im following protocol of my head Orisha and Ile, non initiates may or may not receive what they're coming after. This is why your mother of secrets. Consult on Oduso 1st before anything. Orisha know and they tell us through Odu. Thank you for an awesome discussion piece. Ase Oda 🤍

Iboru Iboya Ibosese apetibi. Great topic. The yioye ceremony is for the community. If aleyos come to Ifa for help, healing, guidance, and many times salvation, I will gladly embrace and "lift" them.
Your explanation was exactly on point. Many blessings.

    Good morning omo Oshun!...
I was taught that if an aleyo didn't receive collares (elekes/beads) that they can't "throw themselves" to an elder initiate until doing so. Would this be correct?
I was also taught that, until an aleyo's head was marked by Ifa of the aleyo's head orisha, that when they "throw themselves" the elder initiate would "lift them up" as an omo Obatala, (because Obatala is the owner of all heads) and that when the aleyo's head orisha was marked by Ifa, the next time the aleyo would salute ("throw themselves") they would do so in the manner of their head orisha. Would this also be correct?
Thank you so much for your help.

In Yoruba culture even uninitiated people prostrate themselves in front of their elders, The Odu Baba Otura Meji states one should throw themselves based on their gender, not the Orisha’s, Iboru
