  • In this video is my 2016 toyota camry with about 96 thousand plus miles (mostly highway). I just thought it strange that transmission fluid could last the lifetime of the vehicle. I think its a play on words if ur transmission goes there goes the life of your vehicle. I went on Toyota Nation Forum and some people say change it 30 to 50 thousand others say every 60 thousand. so i feel long over due.

I have the same car and did mine exactly how you did yours. There is no reason to check level if you never had a tranny leak to begin with. Room temperature. Measure what came out. Put same amount back in. Done. Nice job. However, shame on Toyota for putting the fill plug in a pain in the ass place. Im sure they did it so owners would not want to DIY this and take their cars to the dealers to get this done.

Don’t EVER have your transmission fluid flushed. Drain and fill only.

Next time, PLEASE RECORD WITH YOUR CAMERA SIDEWAYS and hold it on the subject. Most of the time it was pointed at the ground or the fender

Measuring is a good way to refill but you fill until the fill plug overflows

Nice job. Car care nut also has a comprehensive video. You can put a wire in your ob2 port and it will tell you correct operating temp and then you can back out the plastic dip stick.

What was the point of the ramps if you were going to jack it up and remove the wheel later? 😂

Good luck to your next planned ATF filter and fluid change! From watched the way you did the drain & fill, I suggest your seek your local dealership to preform that service.

I appreciate all the effort you made into both explaining and videoing this project. That you let the car sit overnight before removing the fluid so it would be at a the same environmental temp as the replacement trans fluid makes complete sense. From what I understand that small plastic rod inside the drain plug cap acts as an upside down dipstick.

You did exactly I did my es350 luxes. My opinion no obd, no temp gun needed and no need to drain excess. Just add what came out. I did extra that is after pouring 2 quarter new oil, I ideal car for 1 minute, and drained another 2 quarters, a total of 4 quarters to make it old oil better mix. What do you think.

Does your Camry have a slight whine in the 0-40 MPH range. I have a '15 and there is a light whine while shifting...mine has 65K...is this normal?
