    Follow Us as we share with you our recent maiden stay experience at Duxton Reserve Singapore. This is a boutique hotel which is part of the Autograph Collection of properties under the Marriott Group. The property saw a unity of an entire row of shophouses, painstakingly and creatively restored and designed under the gifted hand of acclaimed British designer Anouska Hempel.
    We booked ourselves a package which included a 5-course dinner at Yellow Pot Restaurant, a modern Chinese restaurant at the ground level of the property. We were pleasantly surprised to know that we have been upgraded to the Opium 1-Bedroom Suite with a King-sized bed. The decor within this very quaint and classy property pays tribute to historic elegance of the 19th century, with warm lighting and classy upholstery, adding a very special touch to the stay experience. A diverse mix of European, Chinese, and Malay elements were interspersed throughout the hotel creating this very unique space that not only excite the senses but was pleasurable to the eyes. The room was cosy and the bed comfy, such that a good night's rest was guaranteed.
    We shall let the vlog do the talking. If any of you watching this vlog have already stayed at this property, we would love to hear from you with regard to your stay experience. As always, please feel free to leave any questions in the comments section below and we will get back to you soonest.

    Great review guys, thank you!
    You have saved me from staying at this property as it gets a F in to many areas for me. Sometimes boutique hotels don't live up to the hype and I had higher hope for this hotel but for my needs and want's it would not work at this time. I hope you do a review of the Maxwell Reserve in the fall.

      Hi Ken,
      We also had high expectations on this hotel, the Vagabond club is very nice, we tot the lady boss will make Duxton reserve to a better hotel.
      I'll recommend you try Vagabond club first.
      Maxwell Reservation will be able to make reservation in Sep, we passed on the day and it seem almost ready.
      We will sure go vlog about the hotel

      Honestly the deco in the lobby is really good but the one in the room is above average. We don't like the lamps and the wallpaper.
      The chili crab is nice but the same restaurant in Vagabond Club can make better than them.

    Hi Guys, thanks for this great video again. It looks like 400 S$ for this room is definately overpriced. And this was already the upgraded room for platinum members. I imagine how small a regular room must be. The only thing i found impressive was the minibar. Everything else, including the food, didn´t look like a 5 Star hotel. I wish you more luck at your next staycation.

    Excited to see this pop up on my day off here. So I googled it before I watched. While the exterior pictures doesn't give the impression that it is boutique hotel, the room definitely has that boutiquey feel. I think if I could, I would love to stay in the duplex room. I don't know, there is just something about a staircase in your room that makes me feel luxurious. Do you get Marriott points or whatever their program is since it is part of the Marriott collection? Classy editing with having your youtube channel name on both tv's as you did the 360 view :) So onto some downside.....I'm always sorry to hear when you have bad service. I think the one thing that has to be top notch above eveything....more than a clean room...is service. What is the point if staff just aren't interested in being there? At least you had a good sleep. Anyway...thanks for making my day off with this. Have a continued good week.

      @Follow_ussg  3 года назад

      Now I can tell that you are really on a break!
      Been long time dint hear form you Google the hotel before you watch the video!
      The Duplex room is 18SQM bigger than the room we stay, and also look brighter.
      I think high ceiling made the room look luxury, we stayed in a different loft hotel room before, so far the Duxton room looks the best!
      And Yes, I get the Marriotts points and Elite nights when I book hotels under the Marriot Bonvoy program.
      I'm planning a standard bed test moves to make the bed test classy soon, so next time you see more classy editing.
      There some other little things happened during the stay that made us not want to go back so soon, lucky the management doing well to make the stay better hahahah

    I think it's misleading to call it a "suite". 😱 They probably did so to make the rate look less exorbitant. To be honest, I'd pay no more than S$200 nett for this (excluding the mediocre-looking dinner). Thank you for the very informative video. 👍

  • @EthanLim_209
    @EthanLim_209 3 года назад +1

    It's utter madness even if one needs to pay $200 for an experience in this hotel group and this ridiculous "suite/themed" room despite of its monochrome decor and comfortable bed, is just sad and SMALL. I wonder what are they trying to hide by making the premise so dark. I reckon good boutique hotels are rather scarce in Singapore. There are still a few things they need to improve on or they should just abandon this PROPERTY while their losses are still manageable. It can't be reused as a hotel because of its many innate structural limitations. The history of this heritage site is nothing out of the ordinary nor remarkable. Trying to make it is not good enough. Picking the right location is key. Not all heritage sites are worth venturing or experiencing. Definitely not for staycation. But appreciate your introduction all the time when you guys share your good and bad experiences.

      Hi Ethan,
      I think the hotel group style is like that, this hotel is consider bright, the sister hotel Vagabond Club is even darker! hahaha I cant see the floor clear sometimes but we love that hotel.

      We think the hotel need to reduce the price a lot since they dont have much facilities, and we hope the breakfast improve for those going to stay, it's sad to pay so much and get boring breakfast. ^_^

    I'm sorry but those robes are completely unacceptable...what's in the other rooms, bathrobes with images of Jesus or Mohammed? When will interior designers and decorators realize that Buddha images and statues are religious objects which are venerated by over a billion people worldwide. They ARE NOT objects de art for personal adornment or room decor. What's next, rooms decorated with crucifixes or Muslim cresents ☪️
    If I was staying at that hotel, I would make my feeling know to the manager and the hotel's head office, and file a complaint with the religious and civil authorities in Singapore 🇸🇬
