As much as i would like that. I don't think Sega even have the creativity they once had anymore. But with xbox leaving consoles and focusing on game rentals with gamepass. It's going to result in a slow dilution of their brand. Its still running on the fumes of the xbox brand currently. If they can get funding, i think sega could do it

They probably don't do it because all consoles sell at a loss and they rely on software for profits. You have to think what they'd offer to standout against PS or Xbox / PC /switch. There's too many options now a days and heck even xbox isn't doing the greatest. Sure There's a lot of die hard sega fans that would jump immediately on it, but would it be enough to make up manufacturing costs? Shipping and labor costs? Marketing and contract costs??
They don’t need to rival the next gen systems in my opinion. Maybe Nintendo but all they need to do is capitalize on a market that the other companies are lacking. Also don’t change the formula too much for what made those classic sega games popular. Basically what they did with Streets Of Rage 4. All the other new games they are releasing for their classic franchises looks good so far. We will see.

If they were smart they could release a small handheld that could play their old games, be android compatible and fit in your pocket. The handheld market still has room for a good competitor.
Sega Saturn/Sega Dreamcast mini console is what we really need. All Sega games post Genesis should be considered for the mini console. It's time for SEGA to focus on other consoles besides the Genesis. Not all of us are lucky enough to have owned all of these consoles and games, so a new SEGA Mini Console would be a great way to experience games we didn't have a chance to play back in the day.

So this made me remember that I have a Sega Nomad, but no battery pack. So, I go on eBay to look for one, and they're like 120 bucks... So, I think I'll wait for this and hope that it's real.
This won't be out by 2024, it's a Hyperkin product, they usually take forever to come out. If I recall their Ultra Game Boy and N64 clone are still missing in action and it's 2-3 years since those were announced.
I don't know what SEGA is waiting on to remake these machines in modern form and portable sooner than later. Most of us who grew up playing these games are probably close to 40 and up. Get it to us while we all still have good health and care as much as we do. Heck I'm 43 and still play my Genesis and Dreamcast
It's Hyperkin's Sega Genesis version of the Supaboy. There's a Supaboy box in the backgroung of that pic. I liked the Supaboy. I have 3 different versions (The OG, S, & The Black & Gold). The Black & Gold Supaboy allows for switching the ratio between 4:3 & 16:9. This is almost the same. It will most likely/hopefully just have a higher quality screen & HDMI output (The Supaboy only has composite output).
The new Sega handheld looks flawless. Hyperkin are not playing; the company is moving forward and can't wait for the results and hopefully it goes well.

What a tease, still have 1989 Batman, Batman Returns and a another 15 games I have in full box great condition in my retro bin. Never had retro pies or whatever emulators are good to use these since I know nothing about them. Hopefully I will get my cousin soon to build me a very nice pc setup done right. Im mainly on my consoles and always open to try new things.
The problem they have is, is it better than the retroid pockets or even other emulators that are cheaper? I would say no and it would be worth the money 🤷🏻♂
I’m working on bringing back the Sega Saturn into current times , I don’t think people really understand the benefits of AI programs , I have zero knowledge on how games were created or functioned but with these programs I can get step by step details on what to do , or course because of the complexity of the Saturn hardware and code it’s a challenge, but it’s not impossible
I was excited with this video until I watched it. So it’s a Sega Nomad clone about 30 years after the Sega Nomad. I was hoping since the announcement of new Sega games this year we’d get a proper handheld.
between the Sega Model II Genesis mini (not hackable currently), the SNES mini (I have extra SEGA Genesis, Neo Geo and TG-16 cores installed to it as well) my NES Mini (with Atari 2600 and SEGA Master System cores) and My PC running Launch/Big Box, I don't need much else, oh and my hacked PSP... toss in the selection of games on Switch online and in the eShop Arcade Archive, I think I'm set lol.
I have a multi game Megadrive cartridge I used on the Super Retro Trio be Retro Bit. I will used on the if the screen is good. I am not committing until I know more about the screen.
I hope this is good I have loads of Mega Drive (as it's known here) games. I actually have 2 working systems but not the time/space/modern TV adapters to set them up so a handheld like this would encourage me to dust them off. Especially with an hdmi dock so I would be able to record gameplay. Hyperkin please don't screw this up!
Your closing comment nailed it right on the head. If you have a gennsis collection and this thing actually comes out than it seems cool maybe. If you don't have a collection anymore though and 99% of your retro gaming is emulation and rom's, than it kind of seems gimmicky.

I like the overall design but I wish they had better options for a correct aspect ratio screen instead of what's cheaper and produced in mass. But I understand that's what is going to get them on a reasonable price point. Just sucks because of all that wasted screen space and stretching looks like a$$ and just wrong lol. I'm a little curious if that means that there will be a supaboy redesign of a similar docking model like this.
I'd like to point out that this thing is still limited as you can't play with more than 2 players in the case of sports games that use the 4 way adapter
Can we stop with the Genesis stuff? I was there. I had the Nomad, but Sega has so much more than their Genesis catalog. Everybody has been clammoring for more Saturn and Dreamcast stuff. I know Saturn stuff is hard to get running, but a handheld Dreamcast would be so amazing.

Dreamcast is what got me into video games again. My friend brought it over to my house with Ready 2 Rumble. I was a gamer again at that point

They've released this when I was a kid. I'm 41 now. It was called the Sega Nomad.

The way the cartridge is facing makes this questionable; usually in handhelds the label faces to the back to allow the cartridge to slide in flat.
