Piano is Freddy too. He was a great piano player.
Roger's screams- should be everyone's alarm.

It is this song where Freddie said, "Mother Mercury is my mom." That's where he decided on Mercury.

Freddie and his Sister Kashmira ("Cookie") wrote stories (for each other) in the Fantasy world of Rye .... this is probably one of the songs based on that (there are a bunch in the first three albums)

    Band:
Freddie Mercury - vocals, piano, guitar
Dr. Brian May - guitar, vocals, piano
Roger Taylor - drums, vocals, piano, guitar
John Deacon - bass, guitar, piano, occasional background vocals in concert.
Freddie sings lead on this song.
The really high notes are Roger. Freddie used to call Roger's high notes his "dog whistles". 😁
Another song from Queen that will blow you away (there are MANY) is March of the Black Queen (it's set in the same fantasy world as My Fairy King).

Love My Fairy King .. Freddie’s fantasy lyrics are amazing! The line “Mother Mercury look what they’ve done to me .. I cannot run I cannot hide” inspired Freddie to legally change his name to Mercury! He was born Farrokh Bulsara in Zanzibar to Parsi-Indian parents & attended an English-style boarding school in India. His family fled the Zanzibar revolution moving to Middlesex, England. The rest is legendary history!!

we don't know if he did a personal deed poll but there is no record that he changed it legally/ register.
his name Freddie was probably accepted with out legal process as he put it as his name when he registered in Britain.
      Frederick/Farrokh Bulsara
it was probably accepted as it was only added on to his name on his birth certificate and he was known as Freddie since school .
72 he chose Mercury as his stage name, we don't know if he changed his name with his bank.. I find it odd no one has even shown a picture of his passport.
not registered on the official deed poll register. his pa Peter said he had assumed it was but there's no record. others have checked as well. I know it claims in the film he did but he didn't.
it's possible because he was famous he was allowed just to do a personal deed poll for the bank, bills..Dr.. it's their discretion to accept it or want an official one. for passports they normally insist on an official but we have no idea what was on his passport.
if you do a deed poll even if it's a personal one it is legal if accepted so long as you give up your previous name it would be illegal if you went back to it without a deed poll or going back and forth with names...
I wonder why no one has shown his passport
has Jim mentioned it if you know?

@@bluebell3720 Well that’s interesting .. You’re right there’s been no passport pic of Freddie’s legal status! Heard he didn’t have driver’s license either!! 🤔 According to Google there’s no official evidence that he ever legally changed his name. As for as anyone knowing … Freddie “declared” he was to be known as Freddie Mercury!

@@bluebell3720 According to Quora (Stefanie Da Cunha) stated “ … Mercury attended the English-speaking boys boarding school St. Peter’s School in Panchgani in the Indian state of Bombay. There he got the nickname “Freddie”, which he kept throughout his life.”
Quora (Paul Heyes, Southeastern Louisiana Univ.) stated “ … Why Freddie, and why Mercury? I have never seen a reason given. But it was more than a stage name; even his passport was in the name of Frederick Mercury.”

@@bluebell3720 Another thing ..Mary reportedly worked for Freddie’s management company so maybe she handled his business items, etc!
When asked once if Mercury was his real name Freddie replied, “No, I changed it from Pluto.” 😂

      He 'declared' it!
He sure did! They said they weren't sure if he was joking or not.
In Britain being widely known as a certain name is suffucient for it to be classed as a legal name without going through legal process.
Thats why he may have been allowed to change it without legally registering it.
Just proving his previous name is actually him and giving it up
But passports normally want an official registered name unless they allowed it in his case
But does seem odd no one has or has shown his passport or wven claimed they have seen it and what the name was

The first few Queen albums are characterized by what you refer to as whimsical and playful songs, which draw inspiration from fantasy elements from English romantic literature and poetry, as exemplified by Freddie's borrowing from Richard Hamelin's poem The Pied Piper.
Freddie leaned even harder into this genre on their next album Queen II, in songs such as the Fairy-feller's Master stroke and the March of the black queen

Great reaction! This is the second song in Freddie Mercury's fantasy story. Queen does not block their videos. Three people in Queen sang harmony, but they approach each song differently. Freddie Mercury was a good piano player as well, he is just not that often recognised for his piano playing. You should check out the first song of the series, the Great King Rat.

Never seem to encounter Queenofficial videos being blocked; no issues here. Vocals are Freddie but the highest notes may indeed be Roger (his power pitch). Sister style songs abound in the 70s and are ready for your ears - you already seemed primed for it! Otherly worldly-ness (see earlier comments) easily transports the listener.

If you've not already seen it Randi I think you'll enjoy a bit of history in the making : Queen opening set at Live Aid 1985, Wembley Stadium, London ... ruclips.net/video/EjXetWK-Ur8/видео.html ... Queen with Freddie playing piano, guitar and the crowd ! ... Freddie had a 4 octave vocal range & could rival most opera singers & was pretty much the greatest front man of all time.

I used to get slammed and lambasted for loving queen in the early to mid 1970's - few saw the musical genius - to answer your question the trademark lyrics are Freddy on lead vocals with the rest of the band singing backup as a sort of a barber shop quartet - it is rock and roll opera at it's finest, decades ahead of their time.
