- Hiya! In this video I survive an incredible close bear encounter! Haha just kidding it was really far away. Except for one bear that I accidentally got way too close to. Oops.
I am in the Dixie Fire Burn area and I hit the halfway point! Cue the Bon Jovi! I visit Chester and Burney Falls and the city of Burney. I pass lots of mile markers and struggle with getting the hang of high mileage days.
The pacific crest trail is an incredible adventure, thanks for coming along with me!

Bears catch one whiff of a thru hiker and they want to run.
Dear Twiggy: That halfway milestone was a big one, I think. I can not know how difficult this adventure must be at times but now that you're more than halfway that must be motivating? That butterfly that passed by at the end of the video was bringing you a message of encouragement and approval I think. In the city in my garden when I've done some work, a butterfly will flutter by to give its approval, or the approval of the local nature spirits. I can't imagine hiking so many miles in one day. When I was doing a little backpacking a 6-mile day was a lot for me. You are on an amazing journey that most people could NEVER accomplish or even IMAGINE doing - you are really an exceptional spirit to even attempt this...and you are within reach of your goal. Stay in the present and listen to the forest each step along the way. It has sage advice for you. You are inspiring a lot of people.
She won't finish this year, and that's fine. You don't hike the trail in Washington in October or beyond unless you have full Alpine gear, a buddy, and snowshoes, and crampons, and a hot tent. Stop being a crazy hippy. She won't finish but it's fine. She did fine, and had a cool journey. She has another month to keep going and enjoy it before it gets very dangerous.
Do you mean to say that I am being a crazy hippy...daaaaaaang. I guess YOUR interpretation of my words could lead to that conclusion.
That mid-point marker is rough... on one hand, you've made it half way! On the other hand... holy shit I have 1,325 miles to go!?! In 2006 it took me 3 1/2 months to hike the state of California. It took less than 3 weeks to make it through Oregon. So, hold your chin up high... you got this! I'm hoping to see posts all the way to the Canadian border. I couldn't cross the Bridge of the Gods due to an ankle injury that started in N. Cal. This year, there have been two hikers that have stood out on RUclips... Lord Quiche (Owen Davies) and YOU!
Thank you and happy trails!
So sorry for your tiredness. I'm definitely not a thru-hiker. I think I would cut the journey into two to enjoy double.
The only good advice that I can give you (as a radiographer): watch it to not worn out some part of your body for good. That any damage can give you pain for many years.. 😘
Hi Twiggy so glad you could post 😁
Don't your feet just look so beautiful at 3:25 soot makes such a refreshing change from toe nail varnish 😍 😘😘
You will be able to become a supermodel when you get back to civilisation and when asked how you got such perfectly beautiful feet to model all those fine strapped dress sandles you will be able to explain that if one walks the PCT one develops ones feet thus (we won't mention that they are 3 sizes bigger) my hiking expliots only took my own up 1/2 a size but I propably was'nt as static as you were prior to the PCT 🙂
🐻after hearing all these trail legands from the US some U-tube research was done !!
jprocdaddy=Bear sits next to a guy 😊

I know these videos are delayed, but I sure wish I could have been at one of the trailheads to root you on. You are doing tremendous in a very courageous way!
I saw her on trail heading SOBO in Oregon Section E. She was motoring, so I didn’t try to talk with her.
Reaching the half way point is a big deal. Your spirit remains intact. It won't be easy but your determination will serve you well.
visuals #nature #thankyyou 👍
I saw a pic of Burney Falls from a PCT video years ago. It sat in my "must see" bucket for several years and I finally made it there to swim in 2016 - a week before my daughter was born :)
Hope you got dusted off and back out on trail.
Twiggy... Sooo sorry to see you undergoing these emotional highs and lows! I’m wishing you great strength, both physically and emotionally, in your continuing endeavor to complete your journey! Living in Washington State, may I encourage you with the promise that you’re going to love the North Cascades! I know it’s a long slog to get there, but you’ll love it when you get there. Sending fond, good wishes for success on you continuing quest. One of your oldest fans (80 on 10-10). Michael, pianist-composer, photographer, former mountaineer.
I love the sunset with the dusty feet. Michael from Ireland
You're amazing! Thanks for the wonderful videos. If you ever find out what that underwater bug is, please post. I have never seen anything like it. Not sure how delayed your posts are. Hopefully you made it thru the areas that are closed now due to fire.
Hey Twiggy! I heard you made it to Canada, congrats!!! So happy for you, what a badass ;) little biology 101, the creature around min 21 is a caddisfly larva. We have lots of them here. They build themselves little houses with whatever they can find in the water, sand, wood, small debris... adorable ☺️
Take care! xx
Haha so cool to know! I actually started seeing a lot of them they are so unique! And thanks 😊
I still recall the halfway point on my 1991 PCT hike as Hwy. 36. I'm cheering for you. -Big John
I just want to let you know you inspire me after watching your videos. When I herd you say that you were doing 23 miles pushing 26 miles DAILY. Yo, I got real with myself and stop making excuses and hit the river trails. I went 6 hrs with 2 breaks. This is the longest i ever walk in one go. I just broke through my limited belief of “I can’t its too hard.” I hope these words will give you that fuel you’ll need🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥. Thank you for sharing these lovely videos. God bless you.
What a wonderful set of feet that are serving you so well :) As you say each day is a privilege, something new round each corner and whilst it might not feel good sometimes you've got the time booked on the trail so keep on shuffling northwards showing that steely determination and drive that comes from you in these clips ... go get it girl!
I loved your humor in the tunnel (minute 9) 🔦👻
How are you doing right now?
Hang in there-- do for you 👍
Thank you as always for sharing this monumental journey...I can't believe how strong you are...so inspiring...be safe. be well. and go kick some hiking ass!
So proud of how far you have gone! You can do it!! 😊👍🏻
Wow!!! Great adventure footage, loved all of the wildlife❣❣
So what is your life like when your at home? Great going. Safe journeys. ✌🏻👊
You got this!!
Dont let the pressure of having to finish ruin your experience. You would be better getting off trail and finishing next year.
I am apt to agree because if you haven't completed by late October, Washington is going to SUCK. But still trying to send positive vibes
Sending strength and hugs. Coming from one long distance hiker to another, “It’s all downhill from here”. :)
Huge fan here; you are doing great! The rough times later make us appreciate what you have accomplished; your footage some of the best I have ever watched; you have this guy thinking of getting out there and hit the trails!!! You are an inspiration and yes we will have those down days just let it out!!!
Thanks so much Tom 😊
You are doing great! You're such a strong hiker and I'm enjoying your videos so much. I tried a PCT thru hike in '08 but I only made it as far as Yosemite and had to stop because of money and the altitude affecting my health. Keep pushing and you will get there.
geek, A.T. '90 & '02, PCT '08 (1000 miles)
Thanks for sharing
Be strong dig deep it’ll pass 😎
Awesome video. Thank you for sharing.
Hang in there!! you"re doing GREAT!!
You are doing great 👍 As a Triple Crown 👑 hiker I found the P.C.T. to be more challenging mentally than the A.T or C.D.T. so l know your mental state you are going thru, but this will past. The reward at the end will be a lifetime of memories and achievement. So Kept Pounding!!! Appalachian Adventures Guides. A.K.A. 9 lives
That’s so cool! Congrats on your triple crown that is incredible 🙌🙌
🥰
Keep on truckin, kid! Just do today.✌😎
Well your dirty little feet tells a lot of the story and your emotional ending fills in the rest. You have a lot of people rooting you on including myself and don't forget there's so many that will never get to do what do you are doing for whatever their reason is. Enjoyed your awesome camera work!
Wow you are tough - a So Cal hiker
Twiggy where are you? Hope all is well. 🥾🥾
I’m at home now 😊 I’m behind on video updates but I’m working on one now
@@twiggyhikes congratulations! glad to know you are well. 🥾🥾
halfway there or halfway done?🤣 let's hope you can bear the second half🤭
#frogger #YouRock 👍
Don’t get overwhelmed by the amount of miles you have to do. Set yourself a challenge each day try and stick to it. If you focus on the daily challenge and not the total miles left. It will feel like you made a new milestone everyday. Do this and you ride a high all way to end.
Is it possible to finish in 100 days?
Dear Twig: when is your next video? Would like to know how is your progress. Thanks.
Working on getting it up now!
When you are walking and taking video of yourself how are you holding the camera?
Still on trail? Hope your doing ok!
I’m home and doing well! Working on getting caught up with all the videos
@@twiggyhikes Yay!
