It was suggested to me that that tree was the "tree of life" which has to do with humans producing life through sexual intercourse. So as it was told to me, Eve supposedly had sex with Lucifer and Adam and Cain and Able were fraternal twins meaning that they didn't necessarily have the same father. Like I said, I don't believe any of that stuff anymore, but that's how it was explained to me. Even though I don't believe it, it does make more sense than Eve being tempted with a piece of literal fruit as what I was taught in school.
