  • This 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A sat in the Packard Plant, yes the actual Plant for years after the owner had bought it out of Texas. He had pulled everything else out, but this car when the plant was condemned and parts of the car were stolen! Thankfully with a few bucks saved up for a wedding, the new owner around 2000 was able to rescue the car!
    This car is actually in my first book. You can find it on my website and on Amazon.

    the car seems pretty simple in the grand scheme of things, like the wielding for the exhaust might be a pain but it seems like it should be pretty easy, the normal 340 however, if he drove and beat on it, that's going to be a pain, and I'm surprised that owner didnt sue the after they cut the padlocks and let that stuff get stolen
    but with that roof and the Vinyl on his oldie, yeah they didnt paint underneath those and they rotted
    that one's gonna be a pain and a 6 year resto atleast, the T/A provided the motors good and they get an exhaust shop to fit it, 6 months
    also the single stage on those can be brought back pretty easy, and it doesnt look like the blending on the front was done badly
    trunk however, but its also missing its spoiler, also does the vin tag on the fender match what it should be, as if it was in a front end slam that might mean that could have been switched
    as their should be a build sheet underneath the seat or behind it somewhere to prove its the ride, provided the mice havent eaten it
    and its missing the chrome trim on the front fenders, easy enough really as long as the body is straight
    overall T/A, more than possible, the other however, yeah their right, that's a no bueno, I have a 64 GTO up the street from me that rotted away for years and years outside with that same mentality behind it most like
    he needs to send that to a shop, and not those guys who rebody a car and claim its restored like what happened with that blue hemi cuda the junkyard digs guys did
    as if you look at their shop, basically their a rebodying operation, and they still the old original cars in the back to rot some more, while they just give you a new car back
    which is fine if their isnt much rot, but eventually well you might as well call it a replica.

    Should put these cars up for sale to someone that will actually fix them up. I've seen far to many people with good intentions but never get them finished. Hopefully this isn't the case and I wish him best of luck on getting these 2 beautiful cars done.

    It's the same color as the Monogram 1/24 scale model from back in the 80's.

    • @bradschroeder809
      @bradschroeder809 Год назад +1

      That model was molded in red though sort of a dark metallic red not Mopar FE5 red. Monogram was in Morton Grove IL and borrowed a red T/A from a guy named Scott from nearby Glenview, my hometown, to use to make measurements to develop the tooling for the model.
      Scott’s Illinois license plate at the time was SAS 392 which Monogram put a decal of on the models sheet.
      Scott still owns his T/A to this day and he shows it occasionally in the Chicago north and northwest burbs. I bought a red T/A while in HS in the late 70s, so there were 2 FE5 T/As running around Glenview back then, and yes, I do still have mine too.
      There was also a purple AAR in Glenview back then, owned by a guy named Jim. That AAR surfaced recently, now owned by the guy who owned it in the mid 70s and then sold to Jim, and was able to buy it back not long ago and restore it!

      You would think, but it was still an option. I have a friend with a 70 GTX 4-speed car and rallye dash... but no tach. Came that way from the factory.

    It’ll never happen. You can automatically tell by looking at the place. Lazy and doesn’t care. People that use a car as a work bench and storage shelf like that aren’t too smart in the first place.

    • @AutoArchaeology
      @AutoArchaeology  Год назад

      Not lazy in the least, owner is busy with two sons and running a business. Once his kids get older, he can start to focus on the T/A.
