Man I never knew about this game. I’ve played Magic Pengel and it’s sequel Graffiti Kingdom (Magic Pengel 2 in Japan) and I love the Monster Creation system in those games. Amazing Island is pretty unique too! I dream to make my own Monster Taming game like Monster Rancher/Digimon World with both pre-existing Monster and a Create-Your-Monster system. It would be great. A shame this system is never used in games nowadays.
True. I did figure out what kinds of designs had what stat effects, but I was never able to find a consistent way to maximize the stats. Which was a little frustrating, since a friend of mine had a monster with stats that were absolutely bonkers.
Theres Dolphin for the PC, but if you want to play gamecube games on the WiiU's vWii menu theres Nintendont. it requires homebrew the WiiU along with the vWii though.

No unfortunately the characters in this game are just used to play through the storyline which is a series of mini games with bosses.
