@@Anthony-hu3rj Where on Earth, (pun intended, ) did you ever hear that Heaven is Silent? It's quite the contrary. There is a big banquet awaiting us...and all the choirs of angels are singing "Holy, Holy, Holy!" I could give you many more Bible verses which prove that Heaven is far from quiet. The sounds of Heaven shall be the most "Heavenly" sounds you'll ever hear.

My husband works the swing shift and he gets home at 2:00 AM (though he used to get home at 3:00 AM) and he stays up until around 4:00 AM (to unwind and relax) than goes to bed. I’m on his schedule. I’ve noticed that the birds are singing in full force before we go to bed and it sounds beautiful! It’s like an orchestra of chirping.

I like that bit about the painted bunting's song being a bit disorganized. So is their color scheme, but that's what makes them so memorable. I showed one to my daughter when she was small, and I don't think she ever colored anything all one color ever again.

Nice video. However, a species of bird usually has several different vocalizations. And an individual species can sound different in different locations. Individual birds of a species may sound somewhat different from each other. But the overall idea here is generally very good.

The Macaulay Library recordings (also managed by Cornell) can be a big help in terms of learning the individual or geographic variation for a species, but I wish they were curated a little better, to give an idea of which songs and calls are most "representative." (Including some notes on easily-confused songs, like sage thrashers vs. solitaires, would be a good idea too.)

As an experienced birder most of the songs they played sounded a bit on the weird side to me. Though I did find out that I am not very good at identifying the correct sonograms.

The coo of a mourning dove, the chirps of a scissor tail at night when I lay on my bed and the pounding on my front window demanding I feed my feathered family. We have several wrens that stay in our grapefruit tree and they sing so sweetly. We have Hawks and buzzards that come around but were careful about the birds and will scare them into the foliage of our trees.

This is so much easier to understand than all the names for bird sounds that really just confuse me. 😊 It's similar to what I've done to help remember a song so I can look it up later. I just draw the pattern I hear. This is an amazing find to help me with that!!
I would love a page of just spectrographs with associated bird names. Then I could more easily put a name with all the lovely songs!
