- Listen carefully to the bird songs in this video. See if you can guess what species of bird is singing before the answer is revealed. Three clues will be given on the screen before a picture of the bird is shown and the species named.
This is the best bird identification video ever! I have wondering about the sound of the mourning dove for years, I thought it was an owl.
Me too
Amazing bird identification, merry Christmas
They all sound so nice, but my favorites are the robin and woodthrush. I remember while living in Pa I used to love hearing them singing everyday. Sure miss them here in Florida.
4:22 finally. I can stop calling it the "wee-woo" bird 😂😂😂
Same here! lol!! Who knew it was a chickadee? So cute!
its called the "hey phoebe" or "fee bee" call
OH MY GOSH I CAME TO THIS VIDEO JUST TO FIND IT AND DIDN'T HAVE TO WATCH THANKS TO THIS COMMENT THIS IS MY FAVORITE BIRD NOISE , IT REMINDS ME OF MY CHILDHOOD, THANK YOU SO MUCH (sorry for all caps I'm really excited
I literally found this video to find out what kind of bird this is. My girlfriend and I use this whistle to locate each-other in a store or out in public. Lmao
@@emilymanning7736 surprisingly ur not the only one to say that multiple people I know say the same about the childhood thing and so do i
Omg I'm glad I found this. The chickadee sound has had me wondering for years. There is a tree outside my room and I hear it every morning. Now I finally know what it is. As I'm playing it right now the little chickadee is going nuts answering with it's calls. Sooo cute.
Thank you so much for this video!! My Dad echoed the sound of the Chickadee for YEARS and I had no idea what bird it was. Since he past away, I hear that bird and think of him. So thank you for posting this!! : )
Hey how are you? Merry Christmas
I'm so thrilled--I hear the same bird outside my window every morning but I can't see him. It always sounded as if he were singing, "Free? Free? choke-choke-choke-choke-choke," so I called him "Free-choke." Now I know he's a cardinal! Thank you so much!
Sameeee!!! I also called it that 😂
An absolutely AWESOME bird ID quiz.
Very strong & nice sound with beautiful photos of each bird. I particularly like and enjoyed seeing my MOST FAVORITE bird of all--- the CROW made this list.😁😁❤❤
This great quiz helped me identify the songs of the chickadee & the cardinal. LOVE THIS VIDEO !!! ❤❤👍👍☺☺
Thanks so much for posting.
Sure nice. Merry Christmas
Great video! Been trying to identify my all-time favorite I heard every day since I was a kid; now, mystery solved: Mourning Dove. Thank you!
Never saw a wood thrush but awoke to there song when I go camping and take early walks thank you Elizabeth!
Elizabeth, thanks for an engaging video of lovely bird calls and photos!
Thank you. Very simple quiz. Great idea for beginner bird watchers.
Dear Elizabeth what a beautiful children's story you have created! Thank You For This Beautiful Moment
thank you. I kept hearing a bird in the distance but couldn't figure it out. it was a morning dove
+Fred Smith
Not morning dove, it's moUrning dove. It's called that because it sounds like a woman sobbing over the death of a loved one as if in mourning.
Yikes. That is true, come to think of it. :)
Been living in Europe the past few years and missed the sounds of home. Thanks for this!!
I always made fun of bird watchers, but I was sitting outside having a coffee, and was curious of what birds I was hearing. Looked it up, and found this video. And it was actually pretty cool, and now I'm interested in birds haha.
You should see The Big Year starring Steve Martin and Jack Black. Great movie.
This video is incredible!!! In my top 5 favorite videos of ALL TIME!!!!!
Yes, thank you from me too--that little chickadee had me stumped! I thought they just did the chick-a-dee-dee-dee sound.
Great video! Do more like these. I shared this with all my friends who have kids and with my fellow bird lovers.
Anyone who has never been to the Eastern US should listen to this. It’s the sound of home, so familiar to anyone who lives here
This was so fun. Your clues allowed me to get three birds which are not found in my area. I missed the Song Sparrow because we don't see them in town, only in open spaces, and their song here in CA is a bit different, too. Thank you for posting this.
The chickadee my husband calls the 'Cheese Doodle' bird, 'cause that's what it keeps repeating (& wants).
Ha ha..i call it the cheeseburger bird, thanks to the trailer park boys
I love this... some of these birds hang around me in the yard... they know I won't hurt them and I love their songs.. the Thrasher gets very upset with me when I am trying to prune a shrub
So fun testing my bird call memory, feels good knowing some of what I learn is sticking
I love birds! I am a bird watcher!
I enjoyed the mix of various regions’ birds.
Thank you for this. My daughter and I were trying to figure out the sound of a bird this morning and finally found out which bird it was thanks to this video - a chickadee! 🐦
Hi Merry Christmas
Wonderful - especially for your selection of birds. I live in the northeast US and each of your selections are birds I hear everyday!
Excellent! Thank you! I hear these sounds every day, this video was very helpful to identify which sounds go with which birds. It's difficult to tell when they're all singing at once.
The Goose & Crows are a given but NOW I FINALLY know these other ones. There's alot of Mourning Doves & Chickadees in my neighborhood. Birds are so cute & their "Songs" are very pleasant to the Ears. Watching them bathe in the Bird Bath is adorable as fuck!.
The Canada Goose flies in "V' formations to break wind and conserve energy like cycling groups.
Thank you for posting this video. I moved to Germany from Connecticut many years ago, and while there are many beautiful birds here to listen to, I miss my childhood favourites! We don't have any of the birds in your video, save for crows - and even those are outnumbered by magpies. But we do get Great Tits (Parus major), Blue Tits (Parus caeruleus), and European Robins (Erithacus rubecula), so it's almost a fair trade.
I heard a wood thrush outside this morning for the first time and it was so beautiful and different I spent an hour looking it up, thanks.
Surprised that I Got more than half of them😊. My kitties were entertained by this as well !! Thank you!!!
I was playing this video outdoors and right after the cardinal question came a beautiful Male cardinal flew right next to me. It was awesome! A few chickadees also called back! Thank you for your video! 🐦
Good job, what a fun little quiz! I loved it. Like Fred (below), I also heard a bird over and over again in the woods yesterday but didn't know what it was. It was a chickadee.
I'm in CT. Played this in the woods and hard the same bird call in real life.. Was a chickadee .
Can always tell when it’s a blue jay because they sound like a squeaky swing set! And also they are relentless lol
I so enjoyed watching and playing along. The clues, calls and commonality had me guessing until the very last one; the sound was oh so familiar (I used to do a lot of trail riding in a large hardwood forest) but nothing came to mind ... anyhow, for me it was the most beautiful sounding....oh, and I said 'sparrow' for 'song sparrow'....
Nice video, I believe you do enjoyed watching along, merry Christmas
Thank you. I felt like I had a hearing test for both recognition and audible levels. I had fun. Thank you.
What a wonderful and fun video about birds and their songs! Love these bird song games (I have a daily one myself) I enjoyed it very much!
Awesome! Chickadee! I've been trying to figure out this one.
It was a chickadee!!! I’ve been trying to figure out that call for years! I’ve listened to them before and have heard different calls.
Thank you! I hear chickadees in the early morning and they always stand out to me. Now I know what they are :-D
this is FANTASTIC! thank you!
What a charming video! I still can't find out what bird used to sing a song that sounded to me like _"Sweet! Sweet! Tweedle-dee-dee! Birdy's pretty!"_ But the birding videos being posted nowadays are amazing and informative... and perhaps one day it will turn out to be a species I would never have suspected. It will be fun finding out, anyway.
I wonder if that’s a white throated sparrow call
AH! it's the cardinal that wakes me up early!
i hear chickadees outside my window in the afternoon and morning. finally figured it out!
Hello. I am creating an ESL lesson for Christmas in South Korea. This was well done and special. Thank you.
Thanks! The kids had fun with this one!
Great video! Thanks for posting this!
Love your video! I had been trying to identify the wood thrush song for years
What fun! So it's a chickadee that does the third chord each morning here in upstate NY.
5:20 thank you I've been wondering what these unique songs were early in the morning
Song Sparrows - brown, not gray
Cardinals are not shy where I live!
Enjoyed it. :)
Thanks so much! Finally figured out who was singing, a wood thrush!
i knew the bird calls but whenever he called a bird grey it would trip me off because they're actually brown lol
I got them all except the wood thrush. If you live in suburbia you don't see them very much if at all.
Enjoyed this quiz!!
I love this!! Love the clues in a pinch..
I am trying to find out what bird has a wide variety of songs the repeat one after another sounding like other bird call as well.
Kristina Jamison A mockingbird, they will sing all night and imitate other birds and car alarms, crickets, whatever. Very noisy but I like them.🙂
Very fun! You probably should be specific on the chickadee. Your featured song is a Black-capped chickadee (as opposed to the Carolina chickadee).
thank you i found the one that has been bugging me for a few years now lol
Thank you Elisabeth,Yoi,fan and,laugh...becouse it's so beautiful..
And I now a few from them, from my little garden(picture)..
We have not all these birds here..but enjoy it a lot..
Got this beauty form Beth...Thank you!!
Ton
You missed the Mockingbird my favorite song which starts around 3:30-4:00am lol
mourning dove ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Heard a bird this morning that sang a descending P4 quarter note and two eighth notes. Anyone know what that was?
delightful, thanks!
I enjoyed this. Thank you.
#1 American robin
#2 American crow
#3 Bluejay
#4 Mourning dove
#5 Northern cardinal
#6 Song sparrow
#7 Canada goose
#8 Black-capped chickadee
#6 Hermit thrush
1-American Robin, 2-American Crow, 3-Blue Jay, 4-Mourning Dove, 5-Northern Cardinal, 6 Junco? ok wrong, 7-Canada Goose, 8-Chickadee,9-blackbird, ok wrong. these are my actual results, 7 outta 9 go me!
NorCal55 X I also got 7 out of 9
But what kind of Chickadee? ;D
Great video and sound, but the black on dark green background notes are hard to read.
I got the ones I knew I have backyard bio for school and this was very helpful
Oh, the lowly wood thrush, best of all
birds are so neat
Woo woo before daylight. Goes on forever.
Thank you for the morning dove.
Great resource. I will use it for Wolf Cubs. Thanks!
Does anybody know a CD of bird songs only? No music, so on.
I was looking for the last one. Thanks
Awesome video! I loved it!
Can anyone identify the one in the background at 5:41
Actually, the Blue Jay isn’t blue,it’s just it’s feathers reflecting light, and their actually either brown or gray
Good quiz--but could you please change some of your color clues? Mourning doves aren't gray all over and song sparrows are more brown with dark flecks--it was kinda confusing.
I thought this would be harder birds lol but I did miss wood thrush and song sparrow.
Love the wood thrush song.
I know the west of the Rockies bird calls, so this one threw me a bit.
