Honestly it's adorable to see Thom blow a performance---it's because he likes Neil Young so much and he's trying to do the song justice while being a huge fan. Nerve wracking!
holy shit, literally as soon as he started to sing i got mega chills and my eyes welled up. i have been a neil lover since the day i was born, there is no one like him, but thom is the only artist that i even put in the same realm of greatness. more recently im a huge radiohead/thom fan, so... this was amazing. even with the mess up....
Oh my gosh, brilliant!!! He sings with such empathy and understanding of Neil's writing..... one of the best not Neil Young versions of this song! Thank you for sharing!!!
I like it that Thom Yorke likes Neil Young, he's a true Legend Neil Young, his output starting with Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere, After the Goldrush, Harvest, On The Beach, Tonight's the Night and Time Fades Away, also American Stars and Bars, Comes a Time,Rust Never Sleeps, plus the live album Live Rust, and Deja-Vu with Crosby, Stills,Nash and Young, and Long May You Run with Stephen Stills, that's some decade of music, the man is a true part of pop/rock history, he's up there with Dylan, Beatles, Stones,Who, Simon & Garfunkel,Kinks, Doors, Love,Sex Pistols, Smiths, Bowie, Stone Roses.
Thanks for posting this, I love both of these souls and to see Yorke stumble shows he is human and shows Neil is not. Neil is Canadian. :) peace and love and hAppy new year
I think Thom is one of the best musicians of the 90s onward but I have seen a lot of footage of him loosing his temper, but I've seen similar footage of Neil young, roger waters, John Lennon, etc, so he is not alone!
Thom could have totally done this I'm sure, not f-ing up, but since Neil Young was backstage, He was So nervous, cause he's such a fan and so badly wanted to get it right, that he messed up, like anyone would have, if one of their idols was there listening to them covering one of their iconic songs. (and I bet Jonny totally understood that Thom wasn't trying to be a jerk..he just wanted to concentrate) ....so awww..when he gets so mad at himself for screwing up..
@VvAndromedavV It's a beautiful thing. Thom is a beautiful artist, I see alot of him in myself (the way he respects Neil so much.) That's how i feel about Thom Yorke.
There's an indy artist in Connecticut I just discovered that's doing a new Neil Young solo tribute show and it's absolutely amazing how much he sounds like Neil, even on his own original music. I've never heard anyone whose voice is this close to Neil's. Here's his cover of "After the Gold Rush" from the full show performance ("The Loner: The Music of Neil Young") at a small club in Bridgeport, CT recently. See what you think. ruclips.net/video/K9FDGN37wnQ/видео.html
Did this guy seriously mess with the sound so no one would copy it? Radiohead gave away their album for free and you don't want anyone to have the good version of this song? Selfish, selfish. For shame.
Its funny you are concerned about youtube "rippers" stealing this video when you have actually stolen this video. I guess you wanted to be the only thief of this video...
"copyright theft" is an insane idea...copyright infringement is an entirely different issue. What needs to be addressed is exactly what constitutes infringement. There are so many inconsistencies in how copyright law is handled currently. What I find hilarious is that most of the people speaking out against it have never owned any copyrights. It's all fun and games till someone loses a small fortune...
@@danieljamesmead Looks to me that he told the guitarist to leave, because he didn't like his performance. Then at the end too, after what sounds like a few bum notes.
why cant radiohead write something like this? A solid, memorable melody? They used to. I havent care a lick to see what theyve been up to since Kid A. All started to sound the same...sorry
Neil writes such amazing solid, songs. They will live a hundred of years after we are all gone, I at least hope. They have a soul of their own.
Yorke is very worthy of singing this song. Amazing performance, he fits the song and the song fits him.
Honestly it's adorable to see Thom blow a performance---it's because he likes Neil Young so much and he's trying to do the song justice while being a huge fan. Nerve wracking!
I can't wait for Radiohead's next album. Every album of theirs is extraordinary
Derek Henkel well, what did you think of A Moon Shaped Pool?
Exact
in the stereo headphones, you can hear Johnny missing the notes in some places, so Tom asked him to leave.
He's such a mood

One of the best songs ever! Loved it! This song still makes me cry.
Thank you , just wonderful , x

To this day, this is still my favorite youtube video.
thank you, thank you!!!!!
this is my favourite neil young song. i'm glad radiohead like it too :)
Both of the gentlemen are such talents and inspirations. I love this performance. It's kind of funny that their voices are quite similar.
Aw, he's so cute!
Just ripped it, thank for reminding me to do it
Love you Thom!
this made me cry.....

"neil young look at my life im a lot like you." thom yorke
Great cover of a greater song, Radiohead are truly great, Neil Young is the greatest.

Vesper This isn’t where Neil was backstage. That was when Thom was doing it alone at the Bridge School benefit.
Neil is coming through
Thom.always harder
When you’re trying to cover the one person
That made you feel like
You belonged..
Greatest compliment
Ever..
Thank you
XOXO for this
♥️☮🎹 felt like or alway " allegedly sober "
This song is a product of genius, and this guy nailed it, vocally and instrumentally, although he fucked up the words big time.
This is probably the one soundboard sourced version of the song and here it is. Someone's gotta rip the VHS into flac!
"I wanna finish it, alright?" is perhaps the most honest and exposed I've ever heard Thom sound.
Tears of Joy
his voice is so good in this video!!!!!!!!!!!!
A pesar de la calidad del audio su voz suena increíble
great
poor jonny
A very good version
yes it is home
Check out Annie Lennox doing Neil's "Don't Let It Bring You Down." Amazingly beautiful. This here is fantastic. His voice is right for this song.
Don’t Let It Bring You Down is a totally amazing song, the combination of words and music quite incredible.
@VvAndromedavV It's a beautiful thing. Thom is a beautiful artist, I see alot of him in myself (the way he respects Neil so much.) That's how i feel about Thom Yorke.
goosebumps
Hard to get the intonation right on this one. I’m guessing that’s why he wanted just piano.
Poor Jonny, even when it's not Idioteque he's getting bullied by Thom lol

Jonny should have played the horn.

Tim Ber hail to the thief I guess
ok, this is how

I heard he bought this piano from Neil...?
why do vid cameras mics always suck?? With the tech we have today??
Never going to beat the original though.
Why do you think it's about beating someone or something?
@@RorschachCZ Never said that, just think the original is best.
is that matt pinfield to the left of the piano??
I think, my friend, you're completely lost. I'm sorry for you. Radiohead have been creating nothing but huge masterpieces since OK Computer.
Seriously?? Pablo Honey and The bends aren't masterpieces?
he did the song well
Why did he make Jonny leave :[
Why did he throw a hissy fit?
Oh wow, what part of the video did that happen!!?
@@danieljamesmead Looks to me that he told the guitarist to leave, because he didn't like his performance. Then at the end too, after what sounds like a few bum notes.
Thom Yorke knows a thing or 2

He says.. "Knock it off"..I think Johny made him loose his concentration with his guitar..
@BuddyWillis because he wasn't sure he'd get it right, and if Johnny did it would sound bad :-)
@hilomona no. simple equation. Garbage in, Garbage out.
Look at u
Only thom can fuck up twice and still get 112 likes!

She's a brick and I'm drowning slowly....

Radiohead vs Blur vs Oasis?

He butchered the second verse tho ;)
