Brilliant! These two are a match made in Heaven... I don't like to compare, but Tuck Andress and Stan Getz come to my mind. Kudos, Jesse & Marten 👏
have you heard about sylvain luc a french guitarist who recently died ....you should appreciate also
@@christophegaudissart6551 Yes, I do! I even had the his duet album with Biréli Lagrène. 😊 Monster players, to say the least...
Jesse is SUCH a good musician, never stops to amaze me. Truly one of the all time greats! Maarten is a great discovery too....beautiful sound! A perfect match :-)
Totally agree, he's one of the greats.
This is so brilliant... Its crazy how rich jesses comping is and the alto-sound and playing is simply amazing!
Jesse en je hebt alles: bas, akkoorden, melodie - alles in harmonie met ritme zo strak, fantastisch !! Maarten kan hier heerlijk over improviseren !! Mannen, hartelijk dank !!
Jesse on the tele after all. And that sax. Great!!
Incredible that this take hasn't even passed the 10K mark of plays! In almost nine months...
I call on every old and new enjoyer of this recording to take this one beyond 25K by August 2021.
Hats off to sound engineers as well. This looks easy, but isn't necessarely.
I hate to talk gear. The valve top is working such miracles here I can't leave it unmentioned. And Tele? Allways great in the right hands.
Nice combo, gents. Knocked oot by the progressions ... and timbre ... do surprise us again!
That tele suits him. A privilege to watch this show. What a player, both.
Stelar musical language ! Warm regards, from France.
It's cool to see him palying a Tele, sounds great.
Thanks so much ! Beautiful moments of great music
Amazing playing by both, and a joy to hear Jesse on a tele!! Please make an album, guys! Thanks so much for the stream
Actually like the sound of the single coil front pickup a lot. I find the rolled off treble front humbucker sound still prevalent in jazz to be dull and boring. This sound he is getting has a lot of sparkle and punch and complements the alto quite well.
@@craigkowald3055 but how will i hide my bad time then?
@@handdancin Lol
Coming from the future to say they released a duo album! It's every bit as wonderful as you'd expect
magnifique..!!!! jesse devait surement apprecier le grand sylvain luc qui nous a quitte !!!
Beautiful! Rare to hear such perfect pitch.
Great tone on Alto... sort of a Desmond/Getz mix... nice.
sounds absolutely beautiful! thank you
makes me cry
Great! Finally someone who continues the path of Paul Desmond
Right on...
and also art pepper ??
yeeeaaaaahhhh boooiiiisss
Really beautiful!!!
Really nice guys! :D Satin smooth.
Enjoyed your play a lot!
Schitterend! ♥️

Tele suits him😃
GGENIAL !!
Amazing playing as always. Has anyone any idea about how did Jesse achieved this bass tones? I can't see the good old Boss OC-3 around...
...at 13:25 he recognizes, that the bass-sound didn't work, so he searches the fault and is looking on the second cable, which seems to come from a second Pickup only for the 3 lowest strings and go into an other amp...possibly...
@@tobiasbuchdrucker4353 Thanks Tobias! it seems that you are right! I did notice the other amp but I thought that the sound was being splitted by some sort of OC3-like pedal. And what do you think about the bass sound that he uses on the Tele? it sounds like a drop tunning to me, but still not sure cause it sounds so well defined and not sloppy at all. Maybe super thick gauge strings?
@@SantiagoSandoval ...seems like the guitar is tuned down a minor 3rd in common (C#, F#, H, e, g#, c#) and therefore you need of course heavier strings...interesting video on this (Tim Lerch called it low tuned to Db, what is the same...): ruclips.net/video/r5Yq57Uy7aw/видео.html
@@tobiasbuchdrucker4353 thanks again, Tobias. Great ears!
Maybe of some interest: Charlie Hunter specialises in playing guitar + bass on one instrument: ruclips.net/video/NTPfP91v3l8/видео.html&ab_channel=GroundUPMusicNYC.
Jesse sounding creamy af!
sounds like he's using an octave pedal
what tuning is he playing lol
@@uhMaxx his Tele is down a minor third
Still kinda miss the Levin, though...
I think I read an interview with Jesse where he said he accidentally drove over that guitar with his car. I'm not exactly sure how something like that might happen, but that's what he said. Franz Elerink made him a copy of the Levin that Jesse played for a while, which later became the Elerink Jesse van Ruller model. I happen to have one of those laying in bed next to me right now.
@@davidsheriff9274 the case was on top of a car, Jesse had forgotten to put the case inside. He drove off, the case fell.
@@daanvanderspek I'm guessing they might have made a little trip to one of the "coffee shops" before that accident. Do you know Jesse?
@@davidsheriff9274 No idea. I don't know Jesse personally but this story was told to me by one of his pupils at the conservatory of Amsterdam
Jesse is doing all the work, saxofonists are so selfish
😂
