Good for you Mr. Thomas! I am very happy for you that you are making a real go at the stereo market. FWIW, although as I have sent you pictures before, I have tall multi-driver open baffle dipole line arrays with 13 drivers a side (custom designed by a good stereo designer friend of mine - so NOT at a high cost) So, that is my very favourite type. However, for many years before this I also had a custom made, by another stereo designer friend, a simple transmission line set with 2 drivers, a huge, heavy box with a custom designed 8" driver with a folded horn transmission line coming out the front at the bottom, and ribbon tweeters mounted on separate plinths that sat on top of the tall boxes, which could be simply moved forward, backward, tilted horizontally, whatever to suit and balance the sound. And, I must say, that I *LOVED* the transmission line sound! It is so open and spacious and the bass goes pretty deep. A fantastic sound! So, being a person who will never, ever, *EVER* have conventional sealed 'boxes' I can imagine that your new transmission line speakers will sound awesome! 😁👍

@@ThomasAndStereo Yeah, that was the primary idea in creating the line arrays and their strong point is indeed in the size of the image and soundstage. Just a quick example, the recent Pink Floyd Animals remix. Whereas with the 'cleaner' more precise remix, the placement of the instruments sounded to me to be more artificial and not as naturally appearing in the image, which to me the original UK pressing sounds better. Also, the material lends itself to a more dark, atmospheric landscape, kind of like the original Vertigo UK pressings of the early Black Sabbath albums. On my system, that is why a LOT of these recent 1/2 speed Abbey Road remasters do not sound very good. I trust Sean, why would anyone trust the manufacturer to review their own products? lol, just satire, Thomas. I’ve been following you for a long time and I’m waiting for someone in our audio club to purchase your amp and speakers so we can hear them. We are proud of you!! By the way, your absolute sound spot was awesome!
This is my opinion and journey with the Voyagers as I recently had them at home for auditioning. At first, they sound very neutral to me, not that different from my Tekton Design Dynamites. I knew that eventually, I needed to do an A/B comparison. Many of the Voyager reviews said that they were on the warm side of neutral. My Setup: Power Amplifier - NAD C 298 Preamplifier - Benchmark L4A Source - Inuos Pulse Mini DAC - Denafrips ARES 12th-1 I usually listen at no more than 80db high, my room is 11 feet by 14 feet and the speakers are like 12 feet from my ears. The Voyagers sounded great nonetheless. I thought they would be warmer on the highs. I kept evaluating with other sources, the Sim Audio 260 D CD transport via a Geshelli JNOG2 [J2] DAC with an AKM chip and Sparkos Op-Amps They did not sound bright; I was expecting a very warm sound (based on reviews), but they still sounded neutral like my Tektons, so I thought based on memory. It has been said that they can sound warm or neutral; I assumed it depends on the amplifier feeding them. I tried with no foam and full foam. I thought no foam might be less fatiguing as more bass will come into play. Or maybe I just have super sensitive ears as I am in my early 60's now . At one point throughout the evaluation, I thought I needed to listen to some Wharfedale Diamonds or Revel Concerta2 M16's again, as in the past (7 years ago?) I auditioned those at home and they sounded veiled to me and I sold and sent them back to the retailer. The imaging and soundstage of the speakers were great by the way, holographic. I played around with toe-in and out (off axis and on-axis variations) with the speaker placement. Obviously, the longer I listened to them, the more I got used to them. Then, I listened to the speakers with the half foam for a while at low volumes (an average of 65 db) and it was pleasant. I still could hear all the details and I did not get tired/fatigued. I thought that I still needed more sessions like that to come to a final assessment. I finally did an A/B comparison and the Voyager was much warmer when compared to my Tekton Dynamites. It is amazing how much an A/B comparison can reveal. After this, I purchased the speakers. I have become fond of them.
My view on these speakers! 99 percent of us that watch and listen RUclipsrs reviewing all sorts of of audio equipment, especially speakers……My first impression on these speakers were like hmmmm the sound is pretty good, the sound stage seems to be pretty big,and they seem to have pretty good bass from what Thomas was saying. Now, I know I know you gonna say carl you can’t judge a speaker by listening to it through a iPad speaker,c’mon man! Well I would have to agree but hey we all do it 😉 😂 now lucky for me I had to go by Thomas’s house to pick some tubes, and while being there Thomas pops the question hey carl would you like to listen to my new speakers? Of course I said yes 👍 I’ll keep this short lol first off everything Thomas spoke about was right on and would agree with him.these little speakers pack a punch “trust me’’ they can shake a floor, very impressive. Honestly for a small woofer these things bang for the buck are amazing.so I would greatly suggest to anyone going to the Montreal audio show is find Thomas and have a listen to these little greatness of a speaker and BTW there was a little something about these speakers I didn’t like, but what I will do I’ll let Thomas maybe explain what it was in his next video 😉😆
Well done Thomas. Your description sounds exactly like the speakers I'm looking for. I was thinking about Harbeth but I reckon yours will have more bass. Please send some to UK reviewers Terry at Pursuit Perfect System and Tarun at British Audiophile. 🙏
@@ThomasAndStereo I would probably like the TL. Actually I worked on the grills for the elacs, removed the black inner layer, scrubbed down the adhesive and made them more acoustically transparent. To me the upper mid-range sounds better with the grills on currently. Without the grills something about the treble was just a bit unnatural at the higher frequencies. Not bad, but I'm a musician. They just sound better with the grills on for me, with just a bit of treble boost. For me, balance is the key. Whatever sounds like real musicians playing live is what I like. I get that with the Elacs when properly set up. Don't try this at home inexperienced...
30 years ago i have built a transmission line and i was only use all parts of "paradigm Atom" 4 in. And surely by luck, these speakers was breaking all rules. I have sold them 20 y ago and i realy regret it. That make me think about another surprising mini RB 42. 🤗
Thomas, are you going to come out with a tube preamp to go along with your new solid state amplifier? I think that set up with these speakers would make for an awesome system.
Cheers for the new speakers. Have not heard it but looks really interesting. Any plans for dynamic speakers that sound like a Maggie with bass? Hehehe.
What is your opinion on EQ-ing the bass with software or for example a Schiit Lokius? Because I once heard a speaker with foam plugs and I didn't like it. Took away more than just bass.
Thomas, I am waiting for a coaxial AND TL in one and I would strongly consider buying it… I will wait for your one if u ever build one. (Voiced like your current TL )
Does Sean still do reviews? I catch his live videos here and there. But haven't seen much in the way of reviews from him in a very long time. I like the guy and his content. Hope he's doing well.
May I ask a general question? Why do some amps/receivers have a speaker impedance selection while others don't? What is the switch actually doing? My Marantz has it, but not my Pioneer Elite.
I asked AI and this is the anwser "Some amplifiers and receivers have a speaker impedance selection switch to accommodate different speaker loads and ensure optimal performance and safety. This switch allows users to select the impedance setting that matches their speakers, typically in increments like 4, 6, or 8 ohms. Purpose of the Impedance Switch Power and Heat Management: The impedance switch helps manage the power output and heat generation of the amplifier. Lower impedance settings (e.g., 4 ohms) allow the amplifier to deliver more current, which can result in increased heat. By selecting the appropriate impedance, the amplifier can operate more efficiently and safely. Sound Quality: The impedance setting can also affect sound quality. For instance, using a lower impedance setting might result in a more controlled sound, while a higher setting could produce a wider soundstage but potentially more congestion in the sound. Protection: The switch serves as a protective measure to prevent damage to the amplifier and speakers. Mismatched impedance can lead to overheating or distortion, so setting the correct impedance helps avoid these issues 2 . Why Some Amps Don't Have the Switch Not all amplifiers and receivers include an impedance selection switch because many modern devices are designed to handle a range of speaker impedances automatically. These devices are built to manage the varying impedance loads without manual intervention, making the switch unnecessary for typical consumer use. Additionally, some manufacturers may prioritize simplicity and user-friendliness, opting to design their products to work seamlessly with common speaker impedances without requiring user adjustments."
Strong interest Thomas, I wondering for the bass quantity of TL if compare with Sibelius coz I am considering to migrate from stand-mount to floor standing soeaking. Thx for your time and great work again here.
If you can afford the Sibelius, then go for the Sibelius. The Sibelius bass is much better controled and balance. It will reproduce unamplified instruments accurately. The TS Voyager TL is a fun speaker that don't care about being neutral, accurate and yada , yada, yada
Congratulations Thomas!!Can they be used for nearfield listening aprox 4,5 feet in small room 129 sq feet?My music taste is mostly rock music from 70s,80s.Thank you so much!!!🎵🎶
To call it "Budget" may be a streach, but I thought Focal Utopia Stella or Maestro from Utopia line were playing, but it was Alta Audio Allysas... Jaw drop moment for sure, not only like 1/8 of the size, but also like 1/10 or even less of the price. That's wild.
Hello Thomas, thanks for your activity in the hiring world. I would love to hear you review the exposure 2510 a British analogue amp. Could you find one in Canada? Keep well
I’m curious why Zero Fidelity didn’t like the sealed Voyager and did like the Transmission Line version-was it just the bass? Or something else? (Be nice if he released on honest video about it.)
Thomas, will you ever review the Polk audio r700. The reserve line gives a run for its money to the klipsh 8000F II... Would like so much a review on these compared to the enotiva t2+ that you really loved... Compared also to the klipsh
Happy Polk r700 owner here - very happy with them. For comparison, was running Klipsch rb82iis before, so these were a step up in price - not as lively on the top end, but smoother - and very smooth and coherent all the way up and down the musical spectrum, can hit plenty hard with the 80 wpc Onkyo tx8260, which (in the context of channels like this) would be considered a mid-fi receiver.
I won't call my self an audiophile because most of the recommended equipment is out of my reach price wise. I own a few vintage receivers like the Marantz 2325 and my favorite pioneer sx1250 and a pair of Thiel 3.5 speakers and to me my setup sounds great. Listening to you talk about your speakers makes me want to hear them myself but at $1,195 I won't day that they are affordable
Carl ,this doesn’t mean that you aren’t an audiophile…I to have been on a budget all my life, and if you follow THOMAS and many other UTUBE people…they will tell you that, all you need is a love 💕 of music 🎶 and the equipment, old or new that makes you an audiophile 🤗👍,CONGRATS,NOW YOU KNOW 💚💚💚
lol at Sean posting more reviews on Thomas channel in 2024 than on zero fidelity 😂. Would love to hear Sean speak on a comp vs his beloved p3esr on a nearfield or midfield environment. I would imagine tone and texture should be similar but with more bass
I am not a speaker designer but I was told the tweeter being very close to the woofer is critical. Why is the tweeter bezel not notched out to be closer to the woofer ? Or does that not really matter anymore?
There are reasons to put the tweeter as close to the woofer as possible. Single driver or coaxial even put the tweeter inside the woofer. However, like everything in life, there are pros and cons. Take Harbeth for example, everyone say you need a thick cabinet, yet they use thin cabinets.
It depends on where the speakers are crossovered over and the size of the mid woofer . A lot of big name speaker companies don't really care but in diy I do the math.
I might get a room to showcase the Galion TS A20 class A solidstate amp and the upcoming Tube preamp with a $10k speaker. Then organize a get together with my subscribers to showcase this TL speaker after hours.
Hi Thomas, would this speaker suit a desktop environment where I sit 1.2m away from each speaker? Would this speaker work well with Class D amps? The sound demo with TS A75 sounds so much better. Did u use the Matrix X Sabre 3 as the pre-amp?
Both sound demo used the same matrix Dac. I had the matrix directly into the ts A75. Yes, it has good synergy the A75 and the speaker. Another RUclipsr who has both noticed the same and glad you can tell in a sound demo. The speaker can work on a desktop with the ports closed but it is a very big speaker. You might be better of waiting for the Special edition which is more of a Harberth p3esr type of speaker.
@@ThomasAndStereo Thanks for the reply! I am actually very keen for the TS A75 amp now, seeing it is out of stock, I can wait and see for the SE speaker. Do review it too pls. Ignore all the haters saying is you are now advertising for your audiophile stuff. It is alrdy clearly on the title. They can don't click if not interested, just like I am not keen on a tube amp as I do not have space on my desktop, unless you will be releasing a mini version. The views number will dictate whether the content is well received. Rock on Thomas!
@@twenty4seven368 I am bringing it around to get people's opinion. So far, everyone likes it. I just need to send it to Sean to get his opinion once I finish letting people listen here in Canada. I will demo it for 30 minutes at the Montreal audio show for my subscribers.
Would love to buy them Thomas but getting them in Dubai is not possible. I know you ship them here but with 20-60 day shipping and shipping and customs not included is a bit of a bummer. Got myself a Gato Audio and Buchardt amp - and the shipping and customs duty included makes it easier.
Pmc felt more like a traditional speaker. Tighter bass, perhaps because you cannot remove the foam. Pmc also had a very lively top end with lots of detail, I love that speaker. The Voyager is very different, it feels bigger with wider soundstage and as I mentioned smoother and warmer. Both are good but for different audience. The PMC has a more traditional presentation and will work in most rooms. The Voyager is more polarizing.
My RANT about speakers that sound "differenet" to other speakers. It's not so much a frequency response thing, but more of an acoustic method that's different (a bit like tube amps sounding different to solid state amps). If you have drivers in the front panel compared to a single large panel (with the same frequency respose) I reckon they would still sound different. From a speaker builder of speakers that sound "different".
@ThomasAndStereo look at Fritz speakers. How does he do that??? Berylium Purifi, $4200. I mean, other than he hand builds them after you order lol. Anyway, I know, I know. Buy please try to develop I guess a slightly more high end TL bookshelf.
Why not use a more detailed tweeter? Would that detract from the "heart-melting" midrange? I used to love the Buchardt S300MkII for its natural tonality, but eventually I was missing too much important detail due to its fuzzy treble. So I guess I'm not interested in this speaker -- otherwise I would be.
This tweeter is used in some usher speakers so it can be hyper detail. It is a simple resistor value change in the crossover. I did contemplate on that and experiment. Eventually I decided on this voicing because there are many speakers with hyper detail top end on the market but only a few with buttery smooth midrange. You can go for the b&w 607, it is an amazing speaker with all the detail you need. I have that speaker and am really impressed.
Thank you Thomas. I'm not interested in the boosted highs of B&W speakers. Could I ask more about your speaker? Since you say the tweeter "can be" hyper-detailed, it sounds as if you have rolled it off somewhat so that the highs are not as pronounced. But that's a different thing from how "resolving" or "detailed" a tweeter actually is. That's what I'm trying to understand. Lots of music doesn't need a lot of detail -- and lots of music sounded good on the Buchardt S300MKII. But some didn't. Some electronic music for example has very complex overtones and echo effects and decays in the highs that are important to the music. Please comment more about the character of your speaker and what kind of music you feel it plays the best with. Thanks again!
@@williamdirks5805 Yes, there is a difference in resolution and detail. What you are looking for is resolution, let me get back to you on that because I don't listen to Electronic music myself. Also going to depend on your electronics as well Just not the speaker ' I been playing loads of different music ' hell Godsmack was killing last night I was shocked how well the vocals sounds I couldn't believe how I could also hear the depth of the stage with vocals' bass guitar is absolutely Fireworks ! It's a hard, cold fact of life that listening above 70db at your listening space is slowly deteriorating your hearing, starting with the high frequencies.

lol, just satire, Thomas.
My Setup:
Power Amplifier - NAD C 298
Preamplifier - Benchmark L4A
Source - Inuos Pulse Mini
DAC - Denafrips ARES 12th-1
I usually listen at no more than 80db high, my room is 11 feet by 14 feet and the speakers are like 12 feet from my ears.
The Voyagers sounded great nonetheless. I thought they would be warmer on the highs. I kept evaluating with other sources, the Sim Audio 260 D CD transport via a Geshelli JNOG2 [J2] DAC with an AKM chip and Sparkos Op-Amps
They did not sound bright; I was expecting a very warm sound (based on reviews), but they still sounded neutral like my Tektons, so I thought based on memory.
Yes, glad you like them. This experience at my place showed you that sound demo is useless in showcasing speakers.
Your Galion A75 amp really brings out the best in the Voyager TL's tone and texture. The IotaVX sounds thin by comparison.
I've been waiting for this video Thomas! 😀
Hope you enjoyed it!
Well done Thomas. Your description sounds exactly like the speakers I'm looking for. I was thinking about Harbeth but I reckon yours will have more bass. Please send some to UK reviewers Terry at Pursuit Perfect System and Tarun at British Audiophile. 🙏
This sound is very much in my wheelhouse! Well done!
Thanks a lot!
Yes, I have listened to over 100 speakers, I can count a handful that have midrange that melts my heart.
Congratulation T! Just found out you are in the speaker making business. I will buy a pair soon.
Awesome! Thank you!
Wow !!! I can hear the Galion TS-A75 sound way better 😊👍
I think so too!
Love the Sean pop ups and comments
THANKS THOMAS 🤗 FOR SHARING YOUR STORIES 👍💚💚💚
My pleasure!!
I'm going to say something that will shock you all. I'm actually interested in this speaker because of .... the look!
Would you say the tone of this speaker is similar to the Elac Reference DBR62? I really like that sound. Enjoy your videos. Thanks.
@@peterbaugh51 the TL will be smoother and warmer.
Congrat again Thomas , you da man
Are the speaker walls "thin" so that the speaker can have resonance... like a guitar?
Thomas, are you going to come out with a tube preamp to go along with your new solid state amplifier? I think that set up with these speakers would make for an awesome system.
Yes but that setup is meant to drive speakers of $5k and up. It does sound very very good with these speakers.
@@ThomasAndStereo please make that preamp holding up to Loic's Melody pre amp...
@@goodsound4756 I think he has a very expensive pre amp!
@@ThomasAndStereo yes you will have to compete against a $16 K gear.
But a good sounding Preamp has not to cost as much as that.
I've enjoyed my transmission line Meadowlark E seires Eagle speakers for many years. I can't think of a better build process that I like better.
@ThomasAndStereo, how does it compare to Wharfedale Linton 85th anniversary speakers or Buchardt S400 MKII? Thank you so much!
Thomas, I am waiting for a coaxial AND TL in one and I would strongly consider buying it… I will wait for your one if u ever build one. (Voiced like your current TL )
Interesting. I think a lot of single driver speakers uses the cabinet in a similar way. I don't know if anyone has used Coaxial.
@@ThomasAndStereo we can have something to beat Kef metas 😀🙌
Thomas Please You had dali epicon 6 What an amp Thank you for your work
Why did the regular TS Voyager got discontinued so fast?
Does Sean still do reviews? I catch his live videos here and there. But haven't seen much in the way of reviews from him in a very long time. I like the guy and his content. Hope he's doing well.
Yeah, next time at a live stream, tell him to get his lazy ass off the couch and start working!
@@ThomasAndStereo haha. Maybe I'll word it differently lol
@@ThomasAndStereowe do every time but hes too caught up playing with his pretty Accuphase amps. 😅
May I ask a general question? Why do some amps/receivers have a speaker impedance selection while others don't? What is the switch actually doing? My Marantz has it, but not my Pioneer Elite.
I asked AI and this is the anwser
"Some amplifiers and receivers have a speaker impedance selection switch to accommodate different speaker loads and ensure optimal performance and safety. This switch allows users to select the impedance setting that matches their speakers, typically in increments like 4, 6, or 8 ohms.
Purpose of the Impedance Switch
Power and Heat Management: The impedance switch helps manage the power output and heat generation of the amplifier.
Mismatched impedance can lead to overheating or distortion, so setting the correct impedance helps avoid these issues
2
.
Why Some Amps Don't Have the Switch
Not all amplifiers and receivers include an impedance selection switch because many modern devices are designed to handle a range of speaker impedances automatically. These devices are built to manage the varying impedance loads without manual intervention, making the switch unnecessary for typical consumer use. Additionally, some manufacturers may prioritize simplicity and user-friendliness, opting to design their products to work seamlessly with common speaker impedances without requiring user adjustments."
Exactly What i like for a speaker
Hey Thomas, will you be at the Montreal Audio show?
Yes room 1226
See you there!
@@ThomasAndStereo
Wondering if you would recommend a certain speaker stand or recommended height. Thanks
I don't have a speaker stand to recommend but the closer you can get the tweeter pointing to your ear, the better. Maybe 28 inch high stand.
Congratulations Thomas!!Can they be used for nearfield listening aprox 4,5 feet in small room 129 sq feet?My music taste is mostly rock music from 70s,80s.Thank you so much!!!🎵🎶
@@harrisarp3841 yup, just need to close half port.
@@ThomasAndStereo thank you Thomas.
How would these compare to klipsch rp-600m?
Hi Thomas, when can I buy these speakers?
Are you planning on a floorstanding version?
No, no plans.
Keep well
I don't have a connection but if I come across it, I will.
Will you sell stands to go with the speakers? They look great!
Thanks, no plans to sell stands.
Was the price you quoted each?
I appreciate the fact that you respond to many comments.
Thanks, no that is the price for the pair.
I’m curious why Zero Fidelity didn’t like the sealed Voyager and did like the Transmission Line version-was it just the bass? Or something else? (Be nice if he released on honest video about it.)
Ah, you should ask him in a live stream.
Looks good Thomas
This is the first time I heard someone say your room and the distance between you and your speakers will determine whether you're in heaven or hell 😅
Why aren’t these speakers on the website anymore?
Yes they are
Thomas, will you ever review the Polk audio r700. The reserve line gives a run for its money to the klipsh 8000F II...
Would like so much a review on these compared to the enotiva t2+ that you really loved... Compared also to the klipsh
I heard them at a subscribers home. Strong and confident, but on the dark side so it will be very different than the 8000F.
I appreciate SO MUCH your update... Really think will go for the R700...
How does it compare to polk r200 soundwise? I wonder. Sean! Do u hear me😅. Thomas I don't remember if you have reviewed r200s. Did u?
Ask Sean how it compares to the R200 in a live stream. He did AB test it against the Polk, ATC and Buchardt p300.

Hi Thomas, how long would it take to break these speakers in? 100 hours or so? Thanks, Steve
Thanks, I think way less than that..play heavy bass music for a few hours should be enough.
Ok, thank you for the quick reply.
lol at Sean posting more reviews on Thomas channel in 2024 than on zero fidelity 😂. Would love to hear Sean speak on a comp vs his beloved p3esr on a nearfield or midfield environment. I would imagine tone and texture should be similar but with more bass
HAHAHAHAH
Is that the rst28f tweeter
yes, it is stated on his website for the speaker's specs
Any plans for the Montreal AudioShow? You have enough products for your own room now ;)
I might get a room to showcase the Galion TS A20 class A solidstate amp and the upcoming Tube preamp with a $10k speaker. Then organize a get together with my subscribers to showcase this TL speaker after hours.
@@ThomasAndStereo That would be awesome!
@@ThomasAndStereo preamp? Please be balanced.

What are those banana plugs?
How will these present Faye Wong or Susan Wong’s voices?
These speakers are made for them.
How about for Jacky Cheung and Beyond? This or the voyager mkii?
Looks like someone has been in the Dayton audio/SB Acoustics parts bin!
How do they compare to the PMC DB1 gold ?
Pmc felt more like a traditional speaker. Tighter bass, perhaps because you cannot remove the foam. Pmc also had a very lively top end with lots of detail, I love that speaker. The Voyager is very different, it feels bigger with wider soundstage and as I mentioned smoother and warmer. Both are good but for different audience. The PMC has a more traditional presentation and will work in most rooms. The Voyager is more polarizing.
I bought the PMC gold some time back because of you and your program. still happy with them, thx@@ThomasAndStereo
@sanne2786 I love those speakers, great for desktop and in a normal room, just add a sub and you can get off the audiophile merry go round.
they look a bit like the first speakers from the good time of TDL ,(visually) which is a good think, they look robust and meaty in a classic way .
TL bass is softer, slower , but less boomy , and for a small speaker , should make a deeper sound
lets go !!!! rock them out all day metal !
Interesting!

You should make a TL bookshelf quadruple the price with Purifi drivers and Focal tweeters.
I have one developed, horn but not TL. Bass is insane on that one, but I am not sure I will bring it to market due to cost.
