      Thank you! Its comment like this that make me keep uploading and putting effort into my tank! It’s definitely a lot of work and money but you should! It’s only going to get easier as things get better

    What’s your tank’s phosphate levels? Perhaps your phosphate is really high and fueling that algea

    • @505Aquatics
      @505Aquatics  19 дней назад

      Late response but I actually got a test done and my phosphates were at .09, I have been running GFO and it helps but I haven’t found my “cure” yet

    You need more flow in that tank

    We’re do you get all of your corals from and what tank is that and how much did you get it for

      Corals are from a local fish shop with great people. It’s a aqueon 29 gallon from petco usually 90 but right now it’s at $45, petco stand too. Its not the prettiest but I like it

    Check the whites on your light. I would also suggest a hang on the back refugium. It helped me get my gha under control. Plus the pods love it.

    • @505Aquatics
      @505Aquatics  Месяц назад

      Will definitely look into the refug! Just not sure which one to get. I also need to look into a new light

    Who said you even need a sand bed .. Barebottom here .. With high flow detritus only settles in two small spots and I siphon it out every week or two ..

    • @ReefWithMe1
      @ReefWithMe1 Месяц назад +2

      Sand bed is more bio filtration

    • @blaynebrain5525
      @blaynebrain5525 Месяц назад

      Yes but also a detritus sinkhole .. all really depends on what you are trying to keep ..

    • @505Aquatics
      @505Aquatics  Месяц назад

      With all these issues iv ran into im sure bare bottom is much easier!

      There you are! I should have never cleaned mine, for some reason nothing touches the GHA in my tank. I can’t wait for all the corals to grow out!

    You need to find the source that feeds the hair algae. Can I assume you are using an RODI?

    • @505Aquatics
      @505Aquatics  Месяц назад

      I am! I recently did a water test and my parameters were great, I bought blackout curtains and stopped feeding nori In attempt, so far the algae has stopped growing further

    How big is your tank? Just wondering becus e I was wanting to get my salt water tank soon

    • @505Aquatics
      @505Aquatics  Месяц назад

      It’s a 29 gallon from petco! I chose this size because a weekly 5 gallon bucket water chance is about 15%, any larger and you might have to start messing with two buckets. That also means 2 buckets of saltwater going back in too! I would start anywhere between the 20g to the 40g range, and smaller and top off swings will be too much, any larger you start to largely rely on testing and correcting parameters. Whatever you pick you got this! Don’t give up through the ugly phases and learn from your mistakes!

      @@505Aquaticsalso will you move your tang because they do grow big but I bet you know am just a really smart beginner. sense am getting a 32 gallon bio cube tank I may get a baby powder tang or baby yellow tang or baby hippo tang. then give it back to the pet store when it grows fully

    • @masteroctopusesanimations153
      @masteroctopusesanimations153 Месяц назад

      @@505Aquaticsalso if I get the 32 gallon bio cube will I have to top off 5 gallons off fresh water or do a little like 2 gallons so the salinity stays at 1.025

      In a year or two when the corals grow out I’m hoping to have a larger tank! If your looking for a baby tang the powders and hippos may grow too fast, something along the yellow tang would give you less issues

    You may need to add a hang on the back protein skimmer. Idk how much you feed but your high nutrients will keep all that algae growing like crazy.
    You can also add zooplankton and beneficial bacteria to help balance to get rid of diatoms. Last syphoning you gravel is ok it doesn't restart your cycle. Good luck.

    • @505Aquatics
      @505Aquatics  Месяц назад

      Iv thought about it but haven’t given in, definitely need to add something. Should I just keep siphoning the sand bed?

    • @cochisestar3120
      @cochisestar3120 Месяц назад

      @505Aquatics yes that's fine. Try NoPox to help boost your good bacteria.

    dose beneficial bacteria regularly. Also too much white light could be the cause. maybe invest in a reef specific light, or if u have a reef light gradually use more blue light.

    • @505Aquatics

      I definitely need a new light, the one I have has to be turned down manually everyday, I’m not sure which light to get, the AI prime was the plan but I don’t want to buy two since I’m not running a cube
