    Excellent easy to follow video. The "errors" made it even better. Thanks, great job!

    Also guys if you get an authorization error at the end simply restart the dhcp service in the DHCP manager or from services .msc it has been known to import correctly but give an error “The specified servers are already present in the Directory Service” even if you neve had a Server with the Hostname you used.

    The Powershell command does not work in my Windows 2012.
    Can you tell me your Powershell version?
    My Powershell version is 3.0.

    Fabulous job on this tutorial,, you clearly understood it well and will use your video for reference.. migrating from 2012 to 2019.. will use the powershell method I think. Anything you can tell me about 2019 thats different , would love to hear.

    Hi may I know if I didnt stop the DHCP services on the older host, then I import the dhcp.xml file to newer host. Is there will be any problem?

    • @aizat27
      @aizat27 2 года назад

      Could be, as there would be conflict as to which DHCP gives IPs to client. Normally in a corporate network, switches/routers are assigned with specific DHCP IP. So clients will get IP from that specific DHCP server. Unless you added both DHCP in the switches/routers, it would not be a conflict.

    Nice video boss. What if we have a DHCP failover situation ? Will there be any downtime ? and do we need to follow the same procedure or is there any different way to upgrade / migration in DHCP failover environment.
    Secondly, wen we move to server 2012r2 frm server 2008 do we have to assign license key or just use evaluation? I know I am asking a lot of questions but plz reply if possible. Thanks

    • @dennyaaa
      @dennyaaa 3 года назад

      As long as the clients already have an IP assigned, it will depend on your lease time before the DHCP server is needed again. and you can use evaluation untill you are ready to activate the server.

    what happen if when i write the command export, more than one file has been created?

    • @NLBSolutions
      @NLBSolutions  6 лет назад

      Hi Jose, are you specifying a single .xml file where the scopes need to be exported?

    • @josemiguelnaranjo4671
      @josemiguelnaranjo4671 6 лет назад

      i refer when you use the "netsh" command, and you export the configuration to "file.dat", what happen if it creates more than only one file?

    Hi.. Great video by the way.. Wondering if u could clarify few things for me..
    1. I want to migrate from w2008 to w2016, can i use the netsh command for this?
    2. After a succesful dhcp migration to w2016 (and the old w2008 dhcp been turned off), do i need to do a mass re-lease for all my clients? Basically, will all my 500+ clients have working ip, or do we still need to re-lease these clients? I want the whole thing to be as transparent to users as possible.
    Thanks!

      Did you ever get an answer to this? I'm trying to find the most seamless way to go about this process

    • @aizat27
      @aizat27 2 года назад

      I know this question is 2 years old. But I'll answer it for the benefit of other viewers.
      1. Yes
      2. Mass release is not needed. It is transparent. But, need take note of this. Ensure your clients will get new IPs from the new DHCP. Two ways:
      a. In your switches/router, change DHCP IP to the new DHCP server
      b. OR swap the IPs of old and new DHCP (recommended, and it will be seamless)

    Instead of exporting and importing the date, after the dhcp role is installed on 2012 dc , can't we just wait for the replication to happen?

    • @usmanme118
      @usmanme118 4 года назад

      dhcp does not replicates nor it can be replicates because in case of two dhcp servers with same scope domain can crash

    Hello sir, you are doing very well. please upload video in which you explain how to rename domain name and what is the effect of rename domain name. it effect sql , proxy server , and other application install on server or not . Thanks in advance.

      Hi Saurav, thank you for the support. Domain rename is a serious endeavour and should be done with caution. Will try to do this in the future.

      @@NLBSolutions Can I rename new Domain Controller with the same name as old DC and reuse IP from old DC? I migrated all FSMO roles to server 2016 and DNS. I need migrated DHCP and rename the new server to match the old one. Will this create any issues?
