I am a cosmetologest and have been doing hair for 23 years. I have worked steered towards barbering the last couple of yrs and LOVE it so much more BUT have pretty much trained myself with fades as we dont learn them in cosmetology school and i always get stuck on bald fades. Some of the guys i have worked with try to explain but they tend to bounce all over the place and i have a hard time understanding. I finally decided to jump on youtube and i found you and i am SO SO GLAD i did!! You have explained things perfectly!! Thank you so much! I DEFINETY will keep following you to learn as much as i can
Thanks a million brother... from a cosmetologist trained for 20 yrs... just really getting into barbering... you have been a tremendous help and inspirational 💯
This helped me a ton. I was struggling to understand how to work from 0-0.5 and what angle to hold the machine.. Your videos are really well explained and they help a lot. Thank you so much 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
i work in a barbershop with 6 other barbers, i am good with everything including braiding but i dont get to do skin fade cos i have a bit of trouble with the result being airbrushed like the others... this lesson had been priceless to me Eddie,- its very detailed, you've covered every area and explained it so clearly .... i appreciate this so much and am excited to step up to the chaleenge, you are an absolute champion brother, thank you!!!
Hello from Bulgaria im in 4th week now and im doing a good job with the fade started using the scisors allso i imagine if i keep this tempo for a longer time verry good teaching man keep the good work im watching every day
Great coaching points as always, Ed! The hardest thing for me is the detailing after getting rid of guidelines. I tend to get lost and bump up the blend higher than I initially intended.
This was super helpful and easy to understand! Thank you for the easy explanation and visuals. Can't wait to get back in the shop and practice what I've learned! Thank you so much.
About 500 hrs into a 600 hr barber course. Shear work I’ve figured out with almost zero issues. (Most all clients I’ve been given gentlemen that don’t care for clippers.) I’m still struggling with clipper work. Especially with fades and tapers. Your videos are extremely helpful. Hopefully I’ll be able to get this down. 🤞🏼
Correct if I am wrong, You are using And is Maters here....Open all the way with no guard is more close to a 1 than other clipper manufacturers. which would be closer to 1/2 guard closed. I know we are talking small mm's here but that's where the fade is either a success or failure....
Easy to follow. So. On open taper to 1 guard. Using the half guard you do not make another guideline right? Your just going over your open taper guideline right? Only your doing it with half guard on
Just stumbled upon this thanks to RUclips algorithm and thank god. All of the questions I asked from watching other barbers videos they never go in depth about certain meanings which you do. Appreciate it big dawg!
I’m having trouble fully understanding how to fade into long hair. Lots of people like “Edgar” haircuts lately and want bald fades with lots of length on top. Looking at skin to #3 guard
For some reason I’m having a hard time removing the skin line when I’m cutting with my wahl senior. I have it zero gapped but I have the tendency to keep working the line and in doing so I always push my fades higher than I want to 😤😤😤
Hey brother, I have always loved your content on this channel. You, Ant, and Rum have taught me alot in the pass year and half. I'm not even a full time barber yet. But thanks to you all I've progressed alot. The half attack is pretty clever technique. Ty for the "level up" as Ant would say
I like this explanation of blending lines because I can see it emphasizes consistency. Doing the same blend every time, all the time. One thing that always makes me second guess myself is when the client has crazy contours, dips, or even folds in their scalp, which throws off the blend. But this way will help you treat it just the same as if you had a perfectly smooth canvas to work with. 👌 💯
awesome video!! explained it perfectly. Would/could you do one like this with clipper over comb? I never know how high up to put the comb, when to go 45 when to go 90 degrees etc. Love you channel and the vids! ty!
@@Mike-hy8cs thank you Mike. I'm SUCH a visual learner...I sort of get what you are saying, but would LOVE to see it! I THINK I know what to do, but get scared to do it. Do you have a vid? Hoping Barber Academy will do one if not!! thanks again!
@@Mike-hy8cs gosh mike. tysm for the responses! I'm just a mom/grandma and cut my husbands, son and grandson's hair so I don't do a LOT of cutting but I love doing it! IF you ever cut someone's hair and do what you're saying drop me a video!! I THINK I get what you're saying tho! Helps a lot. My one grandson is getting to where he "cares" now...but he says I do a good job! In fact, his friends asked him who cut his hair! They thought he got it cut at the fancy place around here! haha! I just don't want to make a big hole in his hair!! haha!! Again, tysm!!
FOR BEGINNERS WE NEED FOR YOU TO MOVE IN SLOW MOTION WHILE EXPLAINING EACH STEP. I think that you have been doing this so long that you are moving very quickly for newbies without realizing it. You do excellent work and we would like to do the same.
I'm watching this because I'm self taught but just for my own beard. I'm trying to perfect a skin fade, but laterally from the sides (whole sideburn to jaw is 0). Got the stylecraft saber but only a cheap clipper with 0.8 mm shortest length. This already helped so much though, especially the tips on how to hold the clipper. Thanks a ton
Awesome content ❤ it and I personally think that wrist flipping should be done when they master the steps first and create that barber eye 😅.The flipping of the wrist will come naturally and why flip the wrist if you can’t understand why you are doing it 😮 or where to do it and what results you will get from doing it. If you are beginning the main thing is practicing these steps and if you’re struggling to get out the line then you are a beginner if you are not consistent enough you are beginning and the whole point is that if you follow the process enough and with practice and reps you will get the line out and Eddie speaks the truth and follow his steps and you’ll get it your developing your barber eyes because you can’t cut what you don’t see. Amazing content very well spoken advice and I am a barber who has learned long hair and that was my struggle at the time I started watching RUclips academy and Eddie is teaching very good steps and process and all you have to do is be open and action, practice practice and practice.BLESSINGS and good luck to everyone.
I have been having trouble with taking the skin line out even with the trimmer, I used to click the lever up and I will move down a lottt, then it will look like a shadow, but then I have been practicing to keep it higher so there will be hardly any hair at the skin line, thank you
I look so many videos to fade like you did, but every time when i did this I can not hold the clipper right, I'm so slow men. Ich have every time lines in my fade and I don't can move them.
Great content and explanation. I’ve been cutting my own hair since high school and I’m 1 year away from turning 40. I’ve always done a good job but after watching many of your videos and following your steps, my fades have improved so much that even my wife noticed and complimented me, lol. Keep up the great work bro and look forward to many more of your videos
So your base for the fade is 1 and a half that seems reel short the cut in the video it looked like u were puting in ur half into at least a #3 long hair.? Are u following me?
I am so thankful for all the info you share, it has helped me a great deal! I know you have had this question a thousand times, but I’m gonna be 1001. What clippers do you recommend starting out? I stepped out of the game for about 3 years and my clippers are like 11 yrs old and I think that is part of my problem now! I currently have whal sterling 4 cordless that I am using, and I can’t afford $500 clippers lol!
When taking out the skin line, do you have to just keep the clipper flush and go up or do you have to use the c motion? Im having trouble removing the line ending up making another line above it
@@RUclipsBarberAcademy thank you for the reply! I cut my nephews hair last night and he wanted the top super long, like 4” with a skin fade and I had the hardest time. Had about 5” of hair all over starting off cause he hadn’t had a haircut in a year. Wish I watched this first 😂
Dope intro bro !! I feel like the only clipper that I’ve used personally that actually opens to a 1 is the masters . I feel like most wahl n babyliss don’t hav much throw on them at all
Thanks man really useful info. I wanna perfect cutting my sons hair so he can always look good . You ever do any 1 on the side ? That’s what I’m working on him he’s only 2 years old . Thanks in advance
Thank you for all the education! I’m following along but I have to use Andis BGRc I can relate the two but can you do a example using their blades? I’m a hairstylist now doing men’s fades and it’s definitely a challenge! 😳
Always well explained brother! like usual 👍 listen if they had a book barbering for dummies,it would absolutely employ your technique for teaching.. you share so many things I wish I would have known as young Barber 10 years ago. Extremely well put 💯 I myself don't have a detachable 00000 and don't like to dull out my trimmers so I like setting my original line with the clipper closed, go under it with the trimmer's corners and hit it with the shaver under that.
just straggling when doing 1# open and going back to #1/2 open to close ..it is not coming perfectly is there any advise please .. I am new just started 2 months ago and i have been learning from you channel
Once you’ve done the skin line. Could you take us through a tutorial for how you’d complete the fade for the thumbnail length haircut please. I know you said you take the sides down to 1.5 and sounds like you’d do scissor or clipper over comb but for self cutting barbers can you show us with guards????
Appreciate the free knowledge ur providing Eddie 💯💈

Thank you! Was wondering if you've received the Alpha or the Evo yet?
I’m thinking bout get a pair of gamma clippers how r they compaired to the wahls and can u use wahl guard what’s ur preference
How to clean second guide line no 1 guard plzzz answer 0.5 guard can’t get rid of no 1 line plz ans 😢😢
So your base for the fade is 1 and a half that seems reel short the cut in the video it looked like u were puting in ur half into at least a #3 long hair.? Are u following me?
Can you please do a Curly Taper ? I have trouble with that cut with the weight line. Peace and blessings
When you do the 1½ guard do you have it open or closed?
This helps
Yes 🙌 thank you 🙏 SATURDAY 8:00pm live.
How long should a haircut take
When i use the full blade when removing the skin line what is it doing ? I noticed you used corners of the blade .
Can I ask always should use clippers as a C motion while doing zero fade? Thanks
You are my favorite you tube barber and you explain things very well
So, if I have my andis with 00000-000 blade, the process will be the same?
Second line doesn't appear probably because im using a cheap machine?
Yo can you make a video cutting a fade without the half and 1.5 guards?
Very good information fantastic it get me really excited to learn more thank you very much
Thank you so much for your free knowledge actually it is very useful
Is this video for every clipper? Because not all clippers are the same.
Watched sooo many videos...
Lots of ppl give alot of detail....but not like this. very nice, thank you
This is great but how about the low fade,is this the best skill to apply on the lower fades
