    I was 15 when the cops returned me to my mothers house. After begging them not to tell her I was pregnant the cops told her anyways. The situation escalated after the police left and I had to jump out a second story window, in the middle of a cold night, without a jacket, and walk 13 miles in order to get to safety. There is a reason why some kids run away, returning them might put them into a bad situation. There needs to be support given to make sure that these kids are being left in a safe environment.

      A lot of the problem is we don't have enough foster care and the legal system doesn't know where to put these kids to protect them from the street or from human trafficking. Obviously these children are not criminals so they don't want to put them in juvenile hall because that will just make them Institutionalized criminals eventually. I was in foster care at 15. Straight A student, played varsity sports and a member of the Key Club. Never in any trouble but my abusive parents were done parenting. One day my drunk father drove me and my 13 year old sister to the courthouse and dropped us off at the front desk. He said "these are my kids and I don't want them". He turned and walked away. My sister and I were in foster care for three months. The system gave us back to our parents because our parents eventually changed their minds and agreed to take us back. I think they ran out of party money and realized they got more money from the state if they had kids. I always dreamt of running away but was too scared to. I'm glad I didn't because the streets would have been worse. But the point to my story is that kids that run away run away for a reason. It takes a lot of heartache to make the decision to leave. I'm so glad these kids were found but they need help beyond being sent back to their parents!!!

    Poor children, those that run away from home and have to return back to the unstable life they were living there, most run away's are running from a life of abuse, physical, verbal, whatever the situation, they are not looking towards returning to that life, they will leave again because the issue isn't with them and will not be any better the second time around. This is where some kind of agency needs to step in and see why these children are taking off.

  • @hollyawoods
    @hollyawoods 11 дней назад +3

    I work in law enforcement and 100% believe that children run away for a reason. Some just don’t like to live but their parents rules, or discipline, but many are not in a good situation. Some just live in a home where simply no one cares about them. I take reports from parents who don’t even remember their kids birthdays, what they were wearing. One recent one didn’t know the name of their child’s school. If no one at home cares they go looking for someone who does.

I was super hyper and would run off and say hi to strangers as a kid, so my mom put me on a leash when I was a toddler. It's really not a big deal to do that since I was kept safe. He ripped all the phone lines out of the wall and we moved across state lines again. Shortly after I had to defend my sister from being choked by him I was 14. I was forced to move back into my mom's home where she set me up for failure and made me live with her brother who is currently in prison for molesting her grandchildren.
