Oh another thing you can do when updating old content on blogs for instance is to change the title. "How Google Used to Rank Pages and What Just Changed [New Apricot Algorithm]. Then you leave the old content and write 400 words above, then subtitle; the old title [SEO History]. Add some pictures. Lastly, all internal links should open a new page, which leaves the viewer on the old page while he's reading your other link, adds to viewing time of first page coming from search engine. Just some thoughts.

I noticed that in your description there is actually not a link to your website directly at all. Probably intentional but I figured I'd mention it - maybe helpful? Thanks and love your content.

For some less competitive terms, maybe they would, but if you don’t have any links at all it’s going to be difficult unless the query has almost no interest from the internet.

The thing is that my channel is pretty much dead now (~95% inactive subs because I've been inactive for a long time) I've done gaming and lost interest over the years. I'd now like to restart RUclips and set up a music channel. The question is should I restart my old channel or should I go with a completely new one? Does the RUclips search engine rank you lower when you have over 90% inactive subs compared to when you don't have subs at all or do you have any other disadvantages compared to when you make a completely new channel? Maybe you have an idea. I'd be really thankful if you could help me ;)
Tons of great info Brian! Only thing I can add, when updating older content, is Never changing the slug & title unless providing a 301 Redirect. I rarely do that to any of my older posts, unless the title and slug is So Far Out Of Wack. Primarily, I rewrite opening, updating meta data, and are you ready for it.... Change publish date to a newer year. Instead of 09', change pub date to 10'! Works like a dream! Now on a personal note; I would follow you in a heartbeat on Twitter, but having 15k followers following me, and me following 16k, I'm @PaintingDenver in Twitter jail sts to follow anyone right now.
