The only problem I struggled with, was that alignment in that first corner when putting the lid back on. Man, that was a struggle for me. Lol everything else went smooth. Thanks again.

The best way to do it is to insert at like a 45 degree angle to put all the hinges together and then force it in on the right side opposite of the side you took the plastic cover off and it should just sit in place in the back hinges very easily. Took me a while too😂but finally figured it out
Gonna sell me broken xbox I have to keep resetting it. The thing is I have it on with music Just so I can sleep with the loons around me. I might try take apart or just sell to a store who can always fix it
Im doing this simply cause I think the first time I didn't get it set back properly and the case was blocking the disk drive

You're 100% right Hypno, and I'm sorry I didn't detail it enough. The blue ribbon cable should of had better angles, as well as putting the case back on. There is a pinned comment on this video of how to put the case back on ALOT easier than the way I've explained.

when you put it back together, its actually WAAAAY easier if you separate the front and top cover, connect the top first, then the front

@@oli2splashy I took mine apart again made sure the ribbon cable and other cables were attached properly and the eject button is working correctly now. Keep at it you'll get it, putting the case back together was annoying too so you have that to look forward to lol

By some miracle it fit together so well I was confused that anyone would have difficulty. Unfortunately it didn't solve my particular issue but the cleaning was fun enough. Had to restrain myself from cleaning my brother's right away and will do so tomorrow. Probably with the aid of this very video! Great job on the video and I hope you have a lovely day.

Thank you so much, cleaned my partners Xbox that hasn’t been cleaned in 8 years… safe to say it needed it. Putting the lid back on almost defeated me but I got there in the end. The click when it goes back on is SOMETHING ELSE😂
How much force do you need to close the part where you need to clip over the vent bcs I've been trying for quite a bit and bothing
It's one of the hardest parts. You won't need to put TOO much force as most of it is technique. You want to try your best to push the case up and over rather than just straight force. Does that make sense? Let me know how you get on!

Mine went smoothly. Very insightful and no complications other than that one corner clip was indeed tricky to get in place. Over all I like how quickly and easily your video walked me through. Nothing more annoying than a 30 minute video on something that can be done in about 5/10 minutes tops.

If anyone has issues with disc's not going in or ejecting, even after using the manual eject button, I had those exact issues. I took the Xbox apart and pulled the disc drive out, pulled the cover off the disc drive and found that the pulley system that actually turns to pull the disc in was loose. The belt on one of the pulleys was loose and I realized the pulley itself had popped out of its proper location. I pushed it back in place with a flat head, the belt tightened and I reassembled the Xbox, and now the disc drive works fine.

For anyone who doesn't have a proper prying tool....
Here's some potential alternatives that you might have laying around your house that can also likely do the job.
A fingernail kit: the metal tool that cleans underneath your nails.
The spatula from a Cricut tool set.
***(So long as you make sure that it doesn't bend or damage the spatula when prying as it is only intended to lift lightweight vinyl and cardstock.
Not gaming console parts lol)***
A flat part of a metal hairclip
The top metal piece on nail clippers that flips around. (So long as it's thin enough to get in between the pieces)
A thin butter knife.
For the makeup people...
If you've got a tarte lash applicator tool, or similar, this will possibly do the trick.
Just be careful you don't scratch the finish on your lash applicator in the process.
A sturdy set of brow tweezers might work, too.

FYI, The front side can be removed easily from the inside after you detach the rear and top panel before u remove the ribbon so you can easily clip it back on when you reassemble it without the hassle .

You lift up all of the upper, thin things and then you can push the lower thick things out and then the front can come right off.

When putting Xbox back together an easier way to do it is that there are clips at top front of case you can separate the case into 2 pieces should make it easy to connect.
Hey I was putting back in number 8 screw and it was not perfectely aligned and I screwd a little bit of the green chip will it be fine?

When its gets to about a about a 45 degree angle, pull it slightly towards the back, slowly and firmly. Its going over something in the corner he mentions.The whole things just suddenly sits right.you will see bending and a perhaps be a bit concerned like I was when you see the plastic looking so unnaturally moved about. If you’re having trouble putting the shell back on watch the short in his pinned comment. I almost broke my xbox because the way he showed us in the original video is 40x harder.

This video was a life saver omg. I followed a different video to clean it but they didn't show putting it back together. I didn't think it'd be that hard, just everything backwards, until I couldn't for the life of me clip the top piece back on. I was convinced I messed something up until this vid showing the clip on the corner and how difficult it is

since i pulled apart my xbox to clean it i haven't been able to use my eject and power button, like the sensor isnt working or something, i have to manually do it with controller, any idea on whats wrong or how i could fix this?
Potentially the ribbon cable at the front is still lose Slorger? Take the front panel off again and try to reconnect.
Thanks for the video. I was unable to get the shell back on perfect. Then again, this wasn't a professional job where presentation matters. As long as it's clean and snap on well enough. My original Xbox Day One thanks you! 8 years now, and finally clean.
Heres a little tip for putting back the final case of the console: Remove the clips on the top of the case and put on the upper part on the Xbox first.
Then you can connect the blue cable thing much easier and put it back together.

Hint: if you put a little bit of rubbing alcohol over the sticker you can use a knife to pull it up the warranty will be void but you get to keep the sticker on the xbox

On the last piece take the front piece apart from the top piece and put the top piece on first then put the front piece back on the top piece

I was so scared to open this one! I already scratched it from the video before which is why it was a bit easier to do it this time round. All I can say is just make sure you watch enough videos until you feel confident enough to do it :)
For me I didn't play my Xbox One that much so it wasn't a huge deal to me, but can see why it would be such a big deal to someone who plays on it a lot! Best of luck, let me know how it goes when you get round to it :)

When your putting the final shell on there’s a much easier way if you look under the top shell there’s a bunch clips holding the top and front shell together. Unclip tham and the front should come free from the top then put the front shell on first and the top second. Hope this helps

It's better to be safe than sorry Rizzo. If you're not confident in doing it, I would leave it to a professional.

Am i able remove and clean whatever unit is holding the fan? Dropped some sauce on the ventilation panel and it dripped right through it, now theres a puddle of it on the bottom of it and i cant get it out.
I dont really know to be honest. I've personally not taken it apart further than what I did in this video. I'd recommend watching another video on RUclips before you do it :)

I haven't really gone to open and clean out my console (I just vacuum the outside vents every once in a while). Now after my game got super laggy and unresponsive, the console will turn on but the fan has no spinning sound and the screen is black. Is it too late to just open it up and clean out the dust? Is my console just broken now?
EDIT:
Also, once I open it up and blow the dust out using compressed air, would it be wise to use a vacuum to clean out any dust chunks? Or are the motherboards too delicate for a vacuum (no direct contact, just having a narrow-ended vacuum hose hovering an inch above the inner console.)?
So you can't clean the disc reader? You can only replace it? My Xbox keeps telling me all of my disc are dirty or damaged

I am currently trying to put the case back on, but the front clips wont go back in :/ its really frustrating because the back ones go in perfectly but the front ones wont budge and it leaves a gap so no disks can go in. Can you please explain how to put the front back in? I’ve put force on it but it wont budge..

Glad it helped dude! Yeah that's fine to get the dust off the board, just be careful with the can of air because if you're shaking it around it can release a water like substance if you shake it too much!

I got up the mother board part since I didnt have the screw... so I had to put everything back on and the ribbon I got to say was the hardest for me but I will for sure use this video in the future when I got the right sized screw

Hi! I got one of the long screws with no threds on it it belonged in the hole C4 , just wonder why it is diffrent from the rest of the screws? 🤔
I think the alternative to the metal prying tool is that plastic guitar pick , unless it's something else. I own a tool kit that came with one
It was so cool to take apart my console and it got a much needed cleaning. Unfortunately now my power button does not work but that’s what a controller is for 🤙.

I cleaned my xbox and its 2021. it was my first time cleaning my xbox since i got it and all i can say is there was 8 years worth of dust in the vents and all holes. I was pretty shocked and i just finished cleaning it and now it doesnt sound like its about to take off everytime i play something thanks man!

So my Xbox has a problem where it shuts off randomly and can’t turn on unless I disconnect and reconnect the cables, and even after that the Xbox will only stay on around 5-20 min before it turns off again. Do you think cleaning it will help the Xbox from doing that?

So those Torx screws that you removed, are those the "security" ones with the little dimple/tit in the center of them? I can't quite tell from the video so I might as well ask before I start tearing my Xbox open. I have the proper Torx bit sizes but I just don't have any bits with "holes" in them to slide over that dimple in the screw.
Howdy :) the only ones I used was a Torx 8 and Torx 10. I had no issues with these screw bits whilst dissembling/resembling. I think I know the screws you are on about as I had one in the PS4 slim version, however I couldnt locate any of those on the Xbox. In fact, the Torx 8/10 still worked on that anyways :)

Okay so I found the problem. My power supply pack immediately turns off when I plug it into my console. I tried resetting the power pack but every time I plug it into my console, the power brick shuts off. I don't know why it randomly decided to stop working. It's been working fine until I decided to clean the console.
Maybe I did something wrong to the console? Maybe it's detecting some kind of problem that it's shutting off as a safety precaution? FML guess I gotta buy another power pack.
putting the final main case piece back on is easy if you put the case vertical on with the front facing down and let gravity help you force it in and you can push down from the back. takes just a few seconds to get it in.
When putting it back together, after you get the front of it flush, do you go to the difficult side first, or do you get it last after you've gotten the other sides?
I make the front flush, then try and stretch the top over the clip at the front of the Xbox one if that's what you mean? It's alot easier to detach the top case and front panel, that way it just clips in :) (I've learnt that from the comments on this video!)

Thank you very much Joey for yr great talk through on this.. When I put the case back together 1st time I made sure all other cables were connected well except for the fan, mainly forgot to check as it's under the hard drive. I had taken case apart 3 times now. I found taking off the front part of case easier to re connect the ribbon back, as I clip the front panel into both bottom and top last thing.. Hey Joey Des Tech, I did this to my Xbox and everything seems better and fine but for some reason my controller has started disconnecting from the console from the moment I turned it back on. Do you know what I might have done wrong or what may be the issue?

Hey Darren. I would unpaid the controller and just check that you plugged the antenna in properly. Do you still have this issue bud?

this video shows you how to almost break your case. Take the front cover off first. You should never have to force a part the way he does. Skips a 10 second step to cause potential breaks. Just take the front cover off next time

Honestly, my best advice is just to try and stay calm, and if need be take a break (whether that be a couple hours or overnight) just to reset :)
Give it another go afterwards. Best bet is to push the case up rather than diagonal, that's the best way to describe it.
This is my second time doing this. The sencer is not working and I still have the same problem. I also used a can of aur this time(the xbox turns on but turns off by itself without hitting the big green screen on the television)
I got it first try, I figured out for the ribbon part you can take apart the front piece from the top piece. Then you can just put the top on and the ribbon part is then only attached to the small piece. It makes everything so much easier in the end.😊

It's easier to just separate the top and front panel than to try and put the whole thing back on together. Got it on the first try that way.

My xbox doesn't read game discs. It claims they're dirty. I know that's not the issue, so should I do this for my problem?
just put everything back together and my xbox is turning off without me touching anything. super frustrated. blue cable is connected securely dont know what else to do.
Issue with this is it could be so many different things. Did you connect the Wifi board back okay?

Do you need to do a backup for your Xbox before dismantling it? I once changed my PS4’s hard drive and, in the video tutorial, it said that by disconnecting the hard drive, it would automatically erase all the data on It. Is this also true for the Xbox? And if so, should I have a backup of the entire Xbox prior to disassembling it for the cleaning process?
I personally didn't when I dismantled it in this video, I even removed the wires from the storage drive and everything was still on there. I WOULD however, back it up just in case if you are worried 😁

"IF YOU'RE HAVING TROUBLE PUTTING THE TOP BACK ON:
take the front panel (the one with disk and power buttons) off from the top panel (one with the vent for the fan.) Put on the small front panel on FIRST and THEN put on the larger top panel. It may take some wiggling but it is FAR easier than just putting the whole thing on normally. HOPE THIS HELPED"

This is a great help but it seems like Microsoft has gone a long way to my cleaning the Xbox harder.
For those struggling to put the top case back, just remove the front case and put it first after that put the top panel, easy peasy😎
