Thank you so much for the feedback, Jay, this was a huge help to me!
And I would never shoo away your advice, not when you have a mustache on the same glorious scale as Paul Skenes.
The book is called Pilfer!, and if you'd like to hear it, that makes two of us! It's a book I wrote that's currently in the querying stage with agents. I'm hoping one day to see my name double-parked on an Audible listing like a regular ole Travis Baldree!

Rock on! Keep us posted when for when you get published ;) Can’t wait to hear and read the rest.

I can't articulate why since I know very little about narration and voice acting, but after listening to your sample it seems like this comes very natural for you. Great job, keep it up!

Sounds great!! I love your performance. Jay (ya legend!) when you mention reducing the compression what do you mean (in layman terms please😏) do you mean the threshold? I am always trialing different compression thingys to see what they sound like but, if I’m honest…it’s very confusing! Your video on compression is really good but I just want to sure I get what dialling compression back a bit means. 🙏🏻

Good question, and it’s kind of all of the above. Generally setting the threshold back a bit will do the trick but all other aspects can also make the changes we’re looking for. Lmk if that helps.

@ thank you Jay, that does make sense …sort of. For most of my auditions I use the preset effects rack that you suggested for me.

Gotcha! Most often by raising the threshold, for example from -12db to -9db, you’ll end up compressing less of the audio. You’d want to do this if say for an audition you speak more loudly than you typically do, or if you’ve changed your gain settings.

@ thank you Jay. That is starting to make sense 😵‍💫. Keep up the great work and fab videos 🙏🏻
