  • 2004 mustang cobra installing caster camber plates with a coil over set up.
wanted to show how my car is set up and the parts that were used, Remember there are different ways to shim your caster camber plates so follow the directions that came with your caster camber plates. Also some camber caster plates require drilling a 4th hole there maybe some adjustments in where the hole is located to get more adjustability from the caster camber plates. Doing alignments can take allot of time to dial in so be understanding when this is done. Please subscribe to my RUclips thanks

Outstanding video, not a lot of videos on coil overs that actually show a layout of the pieces in order and an explanation of it. The only thing I would say to the public is the necessity of 4 bolt plates when going coil overs due to risk of strut tower damage or failure if you use a 3 bolt plate on 94-04's. I had 3 bolt plates on mine and thought I could do coil overs like my old fox body's and was unpleasantly surprised to find out I needed 4 bolt ones on SN95's but now its done and over with and worth ever penny. Great job!

Great video, I had a heck of a time getting mine not to hit the bottom plate. Just so you know, the big washer on top and bottom he used in the video will cause a problem with the caster/camber plate spherical bushing, use only the supplied spacers. The big washer he uses in the video will not allow the spherical bushing to move properly.

Thanks Shawn I appreciate the vid. Surely helps to check out a few vids before attempting an install for the first time :)

Hey man, you video was very helpful. I actually had a quick question though. I am about to switch my 03 cobra to QA1 coil overs and QA1 caster camber plates you have in this video. I’m trying to figure out how I need to setup those spacers on the front coil overs. How many and which ones go on top and which ones go on the bottom of the plate. Thanks

I'm using stock caster plates for now but I install everything but there's noise coming up top like a clunk when going up and down. I dont think it's bottoming out because the noise would come from the bottom. If you can help me asap trying to put the car back together.

What caster plates are these? I seen some that don't work with coilovers

Hey Shawn great video. You seem to know a lot about this so let me ask you a question, my mechanic just installed H&R lowering springs, Bilstein shocks and struts, and a Granatelli caster camber plate on my 2003 Mach 1. After the install I'm having really bad clinking noise under the hood so I took it back and he can't seem to figure out what the problem is. He disassembled everything and put it back together and there is still the clinking noise, any idea what the problem could be?

Noise is very hard to find some times. I will give you some pointers.
(noise can be caused by 2 parts contacting or rubbing)
first pin point the noise to what side left or right.
will it make the noise while the car is just sitting by pushing up and down at the camber caster plate (I call this jounceing) or while turning left or right. This may help find what side.
try to get the car to make the noise while sitting there and don lift the car that changes suspension load. You might want to grab a stethoscope from harbor freight and listen to all the parts if you can duplicate it while sitting. Its hard for me to help without being there. start with that and let me know what you find.

shawn beauregard Thanks for your help. It turns out that the Granatelli Motor Sports caster camber plates didn't come with polyurethane bushings or any bushings for that matter so the ball bearing was hitting the top of the strut I guess causing all the clinking under the hood on both the driver and passenger side.
I ordered Maximum Motorsport caster camber plates that came with bushings and after they installed them there was no noise at all so problem solved.
