Every once in a while I got to go buy a specialty socket that my $50 socket set can't do, 14mm deep got me for this one. You're gonna need it for that bottom bolt on the alternator. Great video though bro, banged this out in a couple hours. Also didn't have to disconnect ac. Idk what these people in the comments are talking about not having to disconnect any of the radiator hoses though 🤔
Correct..just pull the wheel well guard out and loosen the belt tensioner thru there then sit the belt to the side where the coolant reservoir would be.the coolant reservoir and splash guard are the only big things that need to be removed
Did you happen to see the color of the wires and what order they were in? Someone attempted to do this before me and the wires are just hanging out the plug
My bottom alternator bolt got loose but the pin start spinning with the nut on sum of the last threads. What should I do? I'm thinking try to cut it or maybe take ac compresser off n exhaust heat shield so I can get sumthin to grip back of that back of alternator bolt
Hey so that nut on the bottom bolt, it’s not coming off in the standard fashion. The nut is secured on the threads and the stud is spinning freely? What does this mean?
Hopefully you can help me make sense. Currently the snow has everything stopped but soon it’s gone I have to get back down there and get it out or at least put the dudes car back together haha
@@crazysexycool180 So that nut is supposed to come off? Then push the stud from the passenger side towards the drive side, while sliding the alternator towards the passenger side correct? My nut is still on the stud and can not be pushed through towards the driver side.
@@russetpotato123 it's just a stud with a hook on the end. I grabbed it from the back and felt for the hook to catch on something, and held it while I undid the nut. It's kinda nice cause you don't have to fit a socket back there like a conventional bolt but it's hard when you can't see the mechanism. Really need to just read the repair manual.
Thank you. Hey RUclips! This should be the first video on the list!! Not the 2 or 3 before this one that start on part 2 AFTER the alternator is off. SMH
He means you don't really have to pull all of that to get to the alt. You made so much work for yourself. Literally take off passenger wheel and the plastic liner. Then unbolt but don't unhook the ac condenser and let it rest on the engine cradle. Undo the two front bolts for the engine cradle for more room. Take off the pully near the alternator. Unbolt the alternator from its top bracket then take out the bottom bolt and then just unplug all the wiring harness from the alternator. You will be able to slide the alternator out above the ac condenser by wiggling it. You don't need to take the whole front end off and undo all the coolant hoses and lose all the Coolant and undo the power steering. Extra time and more money and more bolts to take out and put back in.
Great video but wow. What a pain in the butt to get to a part that should be a super easy repair. I might try giving it a go from underneath first. Has any other viewers tried that approach? thanks
I really appreciate your Video, but there are no need to disconnect the ac compressor and to remove the pumper. Thinks and work smart that will help to reduce time. Thanks.
thanks... my friend the mechanic said he can do it in 4 hours in and out.. in fact took less time. will ask his secret..... that or I need to check my radiator for damage >.
it can be done without pulling all those parts off but pulling them off makes life much easier and takes less labor time and effort. great video.

Yo what kind of pliers are those clamp pliers?
The old wire harness came apart now I need to match the new harness wires to the original wires
Why don't you pull the engine for better access smh, don't have to pull all that off
pull the engine? thats more work and cost. please subscribe, and share and watch the rest of the series thanks
reminds me of my land rover days. just drop the engine for anything its easier

Hello did you end up disconnecting any ac lines. Or purging the system at all prior to this
yes both

yes you do only way to access the bolts
Thanks for watching , please like, share, and subscribe
I need to see how the wires are on the plug
1440p nice
Video doesn't seem complete. The volume and lighting aren't consistent. There's also no video on reversing the process.
Not real easy, but i did it by removing the fan , left everything else
No you not need remove all the parts
Really?
I did it by removing the fans.

Why not just take the ac compressor off then take the alternator out without taking the whole front end apart? Lol
because you have to remove it all there is no short cut
