  • Holy Hill is a Carmelite monastery about 30 miles northwest of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Begun in the mid-1800s, this Roman Catholic shrine is built in the Romanesque Revival style on a 1300 foot hill and is home about 20 friars of the Secular Order of Discalced (barefoot) Carmelites.
    Formally known as Basilica and National Shrine of Mary Help of Christians at Holy Hill, this basilica minor is a beautiful and peaceful place to visit; easily reachable from Milwaukee and Chicago, just east of Richfield and Germantown, WI. Thanks for watching! Christian

      Yes! We don't have that many old sites like in Europe. It's fun to learn the history, isn't it? Thanks for visiting!

    Very cool footage, Christian. Due west of the basilica are the hallowed links, Erin Hills. These hills are technically the southernmost gouges of the Kettle Moraine area of Wisconsin.

      A few weeks ago somebody or two people set their RUclips to watch all of my videos and they probably fell asleep. I got 132 views overnight and a day or two later I got a message from YT telling me that interest in my older videos has helped my channel analytics. I wondered if watching a channel's oldest videos helps the YT algorithm so I started watching your oldest videos. My views are up a tiny bit but I'm not getting subs. Just trying to figure this all out. This is a pretty cool place to visit and fly. Not close to anything.

      @@MainlightDrone personally I do not see myself generating any revenue out of this, something similar happened to me, out of the blue I got views, at some point I started to gain subs, but not views ..

    I'd say it was well thought and narrated vlog!! Nice drone shots, especially liked the view at 07:08!

      This is one of my favorites, too. It's an early one but I think the sound, drone and handheld footage all came together ok. I'm down to 9 hours to go!

    Odd to see drone footage over Holy Hill here. I was just there and there are tons of signs stating no drones

    • @MainlightDrone
      @MainlightDrone  Год назад

      The signs weren't there yet when I was there over three years ago. Although only the FAA controls airspace, I would have respected the signs. In fact, I have been there since and chose not to fly after seeing the signs, out of respect.

    This video sparks my interest in the monastic life, but then I abandon it when I realize I am over the maximum age to enter this type of living.

      @@MainlightDrone This has sparked my interest the last few years. I grew up catholic, but wasn't really practicing for years, but I want to return to it. I really wish they would eliminate the age requirement. You will find more middle age men pursuing this as a result.

    What a good video. The narration was great. It kept me watching the entire video. I like the summer time version better only because the greenery brings it alive. The interior of the church reminds me of the one my grandmother attended in Punxsutawney, PA. What drone did you use? Thanks for sharing.

    • @MainlightDrone
      @MainlightDrone  3 года назад +1

      Wow, David, what a compliment! What happens often, happened here. I was just going to fly the drone (Mavic Air in the first, Mini II in the second) and when I went to put the video together, I discovered the interesting history of the place. I googled churches in Punxsutawney and found Saint Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church which looks pretty close to this one. Thanks for watching (both!)

    • @DavidLorenzoFlorida
      @DavidLorenzoFlorida 3 года назад

      @@MainlightDrone I find myself googling Punx. churches. The Byzantine church you found is not it. She attended one that was larger and had columns on each side of the sanctuary with confessionals (If I recall correctly) . It's been a very long time since I was there. She passed years ago so I can't call her.
      I currently am using the Mavic Pro 1, Mavic Air 2, and the Phantom 3 Pro. The MA2 is the newest addition and the Polo Club is the first video I've done with it.
