Only downside with that nest is adding water to PLA, PLA is plant based filament and will slowly soak up the water and start to deteriorate over time, Still, a cool little setup though
Heya so keep them in the tube as long as possible, after that clean it and keep it. It's always handy to have some spares for sugar or water feeds. Sorry for delay in response
Hello I have a question, do you think my future acorn ant colony could fit in this out world and nest? (Temnothorax Nylanderi colony with about 25 workers and sorry for bad spelling) Edit: by fit in the nest I mean not escape 😂
Heya thanks for the question. Yea I would trust this nest with acorn ants, its very secure. To be certain maybe email Best Ants Uk to check as I havnt kept them in it before. But I see no reason why not, its a fully sealed unit apart from the Air holes which I believe are to small for acorns to escape from. The best way to test for escapees I've found is a single ply of tissue paper laid over the air holes, drip water onto it, it creates a seal which air can pass though but I belive ants can't, I uavnt had any yet. Although they will chew their way through if they can but this will give you a good idea of the escape routes I hope this helps
My Colony is still using this same set up now. Easily over 100 workers can use this nest. Maybe upto 150. I expect I will need to upgrade in 6-8 months so loads of time with it. Hope that helps
@@antsonarock thanks for the reply. I kept ants as a kid back in the 70s. Looking to rekindle one of my childhood hobbies. It's amazing how it's moved on from makeshift plastic fishtanks of yesteryear. Great channel just subbed 👍
@@TheFairway8 thank you very much that's awesome. Oh yea I expect it has changed alot since back then. Its become really popular in last few years aswell with the products now available getting better and better
Thanks for the video.

Any idea for a solution to this? I'm new to the hobby and was thinking of starting with one of these
@@tobinbuttram5699 don't worry as by the time it deteriorates the colony will need a new nest anyway
I’m getting this nest and thank you for reviewing it!
This is a great nest, I still use it now. Never let me down yet
Hello, mate just bought this. What are we supposed to do after the ants test tube is done with?

Outworld is made of ikea Godmorgon storage container :) well... adapted obviously
Tbh, I wouldn't be able to make the adoptions. And they are so well done I view this as a best ants uk product......
@@antsonarock they are really nice I use them also. Not much to do than drill 2 holes and cheap as can be. Winner in my books 😁
Assuming all things being equal on average how long would this size setup be capable of housing this colony for
