Well Philip I'm asking myself, how come the "Remove Wrestling from "Offensive Content" List!" petition, the WCPW situation with YT or wrestling content as a whole on this site wasn't mentioned?
I think you should've mentioned how the mayor of London said that Terrorist attacks are "Part and Parcel of living in a city." Don't like what Trump said, but still a bit concerning.
My memory of the scene where the 'white police leave ' was from around 6am UK time. I think that is probably shift change time. Wow! People just be twisting everyday life to their own ends. I never even noticed if there was any difference in the appearance of the people in the uniforms when I watched this morning. Saddened.
Phil, I have been watching you since I was in high school. Time after time I have chosen to watch your videos instead of CNN or FOX because you show little bias when reporting. Even if you do have personal feelings about something you are reporting on, you will let your audience know how you feel and encourage them to have their own feelings about it. You don't choose to report on stories that will further your own agenda. You report on what is happening and affecting the world, not just yourself. You will also apologize if you feel like you have done your audience wrong. Thank you for being basically one of the only good sources of news left! I really hope that you continue your work for as long as it makes you happy :)
Also, someone commented earlier and said "'since high school' you mean like a week ago? judging by your avatar photo" I AM 23 so thank you for the compliment :3
Well, moving protesters into the "best possible shot" is directing and staging and completely breaks journalistic ethics according to the NPAA and other journalistic associations, even if the protesters were actually there to start with. You must portray it as a setup interview, not as news coverage of actual, organic events. That's the definition of a produced video feature vs journalistic coverage of events. Journalism ethics requires that photos not even be edited beyond the slightest color and exposure corrections. Sources: nppa.org/code_of_ethics "...do not intentionally contribute to, alter or seek to alter or influence events."
Theres a reason i only get news from you and some newspaper sources. You are an outlet that is so far unbiased and un corrupted, and i hope you stay that way.
Kynan he means to say that Phil presents information in an unbiased manner. Phil lays out all the facts then puts his own thoughts on the situation. Like he says, he's trying to start a conversation :)
I just want to stop and appreciate the fact that Phil exists. We need more people like him. He brings people of all sides together. Thank you Phil, love ya face!
thats 100% besides the point and if the terrorists who are more than willing to hurt innocent people easier access to a gun, they would of definitely killed the guy
@Paloma We dont need guns in Europe, keep them in 'Murica please, you can have them. Sincerely, European who doesn't want someone shooting up his school.
You're telling me, you would rather them not have a gun when they need it, just because you won't need it most the time. Holy christ, what a sheep mentality.
The news is like eggs, It's better if you take it with salt. Perhaps a bit of pepper too. Maybe we could use pepper to make all the newscasters sneeze uncontrollably.
Pretty funny! They consider arming police before they are willing to talk about why they need to arm police. When that fails will they allow citizens to arm themselves before they address the real problem?
A point that was brought up was that the police around Westminster, and the police that responded to the London Bridge incident where already armed, and responded quickly and dealt with the situation as well as they possibly could (not exact words, but it was along those lines)!
If the police are monitored while carrying firearms (body-cams or something similar), then I'm ok with them carrying guns; but that doesn't mean citizens should have easier access to firearms!
Honestly, more cops in the streets is really alarming, because it's an indication that the authorities are on a heightened alert, due to threats of terroristic attacks. I don''t think it;s out of context, because the context supports the quoted part.
I was supposed to be at a party in the area at the time of the London attack but due to introversion and love for video games I didn't go. Proof that video games do nothing but good! In all seriousness, Our police did an amazing job despite all of their recent funding cuts. Our armed police are so highly trained and professional I feel so safe with them around. London isn't scared, just look at the guy who fled the scene still with his drink in his hand and another who went back the next day to pay his restaurant bill. We will always just push on, that's what we do.
In terms of every day life it is. If we let things like this affect what we do in the city then the attackers have succeeded. MI5 and the police are doing all they can; meanwhile the rest of us are staying calm, sipping tea and go back arguing over politics and our upcoming election. ISIS/wannabes that have been outcasted from their local mosques want us to get worked up over all of this, and I don't know about you but I'm not giving them that satisfaction.
Emily Lavis His point is that the people should be trying to do what they can to encourage change, not just act as if this shit is just normal now and something people have to put up with.
It's so odd to hear people buffer criticisms about President Trump with a desire to remain fair, or not wanting too sound liberal. It's a fallacy to think that his shortcomings are politically representative or that criticisms made against him and his actions are politically motivated. His character flaws are far too pervasive to not warrant criticism, regardless of politics.
Axel xXx, no matter the level of government, the person acting as an official is always separable from the office, yet as the acting official, that person's character has an influence on how that office is used or misused. I chose the word "character" specifically, because it carries a deeper, less transient connotation of the definition of an individual than "personality," but you can interchange them if you'd like. His character degrades him as any political leader, not just president. He has proven to be ridiculously impulsive, repeatedly self-contradictory, willfully ignorant until he's beaten over the head with facts, narcissistic and quick to scapegoat, irreverent of his own office and many other facets of government, and possibly worst of all, despite 70 years of life, he has less knowledge about history, ethics, and law (and often common sense) than a college freshman. These are qualities that should draw cross-partisan concern, yet much of his base elected him specifically for many of those characteristics.
Axel xXx, all that and the only thing you addressed was the fact that I mentioned "college freshman." You seem to be a huge fan of generalizations, so I don't think anything will get through to you, but just because someone acts against your prize horse, or even waves the banner of being liberal, doesn't mean they are acting in accordance with liberalism or even good ethics. Nor did I ever say that's what I was, yet you started in with "you guys" as if I'm party to something. There's nothing beneficial Trump has done or will do that any other Republican could have and would have done, nor has it been long enough to really credit him with anything. You can't say that personality means nothing when it was personality that got him to office. Character and personality in politics are paramount, even after election, because the public needs to be able to trust your actions. You can screech your head off about "dim-witted" and "violent" liberals, and I'll watch their irrational fringe do the same to you. The rest of us who follow reason and judge circumstantially will ignore the zoos on both sides of the street and leave our rose-colored glasses at home. (I'm normally against ad hominem, but that "kiddo" line made me laugh, given your profile screams, "I'm fourteen and here are my favorite memes!" Thank you for that.)
Axel xXx, I think you need to do some research into the meanings of liberalism v. conservatism, they aren't static or monolithic, nor do either have authoritative entities to oversee their integrity. Also, no one said you have to sheepishly follow any media network if you don't trust Trump, but if you stick with those generalizations and misplaced trust in proven dishonest demagogues and you'll find yourself on the fringe in not time (if you're not already there and in denial). By the way, that's not how decreases in national debt are determined. By that logic, you could 86 all non-military, government programs and call it a decrease. Decreases in national debt are measured over years with the implementation of national budgets and revised tax plans, but they are also weighed against the overall economic success of the populace and efficiency of the government to have historical credibility as an effective measure.
Axel xXx, you're mixing religious and ethical/economic ideologies. Conservatism and liberalism can coincide with religion, but don't work the same way as religious ideologies for various reasons, one being the assumption of authority existing permanently and "outside" the domain of men, then is ordained to men, so long as it doesn't betray the "outside" authority. This creates fascism in most cases, given the intangibility of authority and the indirect cause-and-effect of ethics. That's an entirely separate discussion, though. Bottom line is that there is no de facto "leader" of conservatism or liberalism, because they are so informal and variable with time, therefore there is no "authority" beyond the unauthorized mob assumption. I was specifically talking about national debt, which unless Trump brokered multi-trillion dollar foreign donation, can't be measured in terms of his presidency as of yet. The GDP is actually quite low at the moment. By my logic you could criticize Obama more, but you're choosing to ignore economics to credit Trump for something not there. As far as jobs go, again it goes back to sustainability. He has created jobs, but any business can do this, they have to be proven over time to be sustainable to truly be measured. All of this goes back to being able to better assess his character than effectiveness at just 6 months in. If you're willing to ignore his character in favor of policy, then you find yourself in good company with many House and Senate Republicans.
Axel xXx, I'm not sure what you think you're accomplishing by giving half-assed explanations of Sharia Law and theocracies, because they don't contradict or apply as rebuttal to anything I've said. The second comment could loosely apply to something I said earlier, but not my last comment, so we're not really making progress, here (if that were at all possible). Good luck, "kiddo."
while true (that people are "fucked" up) It goes deeper. When i was in school we were taught ethics as part of our civics courses (we also had to take a class on the constitution). That is no longer happening. As a matter of fact, civics isn't being taught either. Ignorant plebs turn into fucked up plebs (for those who do not know, a pleb is a citizen, i've seen the word misused way to often).
What Rick Harris said, finding the solution to the problem is the reason the political discourse continues. Sure we can honor the dead and shame the terrorists, but be prepared to rinse and repeat every time an act of terror happens. The goal here on both sides (hopefully) is to prevent further incidents.
Hey Phil, 15k comments so I doubt you'll see this, but just saying I've always respected and appreciated your honest take on these tough issues. Keep it up! It's refreshing.
Thank you for this Phil. Your way of news is one of the best I have seen right now. You show your opinion but you also give us the facts and show us everything, not just what we want to hear. Thank you for continuing to do this even though RUclips and companies may not support you. I have become a huge fan of PDS in the last few years and will stay here, thank you again
I started watching you Phil when you first covered the Daddy of Five story and I've been watching you since. You are a breath of fresh air when it comes to news coverage because you present it in a unbiased way call out bullshit when it needs to be called out, give your opinion and you genuinely want to have a conversation, not and argument, a conversation with your views. Your a fantastic human being. Keep kicking ass!
Jay H Lol, other countries also have what you would call "commentary and emotional arguments." Alongside with the news of course but American news outlets also deliver on substance too.
Jay H Don't get me wrong, I too toon into international news outlets like bbc, Airiang News, Aljazeera etc... I'm just saying that sometimes politics can be an emotional issue, especially with "special" correspondents.
Phillip, got endless respect for you! If people leave this channel because of your relatively unbiased, fair views on these issues then we don't need em. I mean, watching your show could definitely help them out and maybe cure their closed mindedness. I feel like there will always be people who can't think reasonably, and will continue to be biased and closed minded towards an issue or a person no matter what. This is really frustrating to me and kind of depressing. Do you think that people like that ever really change? I know that I am more open minded than I used to be, but other people close to me are extremely closed minded about important issues they can't think critically about them, and i don't understand it.
Love that your so balanced.. I'm from the UK and I find bias on either side really annoying and worry about the polarisation that seems to be happening here in the UK but even more so in the US. I think people live in an 'echo box' where social media and the news channels people choose to watch do nothing but reinforce your own point of view making it harder to even conceive of other peoples perspective.. Sometimes therefore, its not a problem with fake news per se, but instead not getting a mix of news sources with balanced viewpoints! Hope you got the chance to read this, keep doing what your doing, Monty :)
Phil I know this comment isn't much of a conversation starter I'm not always the best with words. I just wanted to thank you for what you and the crew do. I've never been one to watch much of the news even when I was a kid I just never really liked it and I've always thought "there had to be more to the story" you give me things to think about as well as a way to learn about the news in a way I actually enjoy and can learn from. So like I said I'm sorry it's not much of a conversation but I just really wanted to say thank you and I wish you luck in all your endeavors... Thank You.
in all seriousness, Philip I am so glad to have found your channel almost a year ago. You not only cover a vast variety of important issues but you give reason for both sides ALONG with your own opinion and encourage the viewers to give and express theirs. I just wanted to spread a little love since you have helped encourage me to raise my voice in my own life, this video helped remind me why I have been watching this channel for as long as I have, thank you
Fair enough. These 7 PEOPLE were really outraged over the killings... Query: if they were selectively pulled from a much larger protest/group why not show the much larger group? We understand 'staging' but were they deliberately trying to artificially inflate the size of the crowd & if so why?
Not defending CNN's cherry picking but an argument can be made that they are picking a smaller group for aesthetic appeal, or rather to showcase a more human side to the people.
I wouldn't necessarily call it "fake news", but reality is messy & raw. So cropping it & throwing a pretty frame on it takes away from the real feelings & emotions of it. Life isn't an instagram post.
If Fear and Anger move mountains, Love and Courage can shake the whole Earth. Thanks for having the courage to stand up for your views and to offer an objective opinion. I'll work on the Love part. 😇💙
Even as someone who identifies as very left wing, I really have a lot of respect for the fair and unbiased way you present your show, that's why I (and I assume a lot of others) trust you as a reliable news source
ciara stares Same here. I used to watch him back when he first started and quit for years and years. I've only started watching again within the past few months because he goes so above and beyond to get all sides of the story. While the republicans make it easier to criticize them than shooting fish in a barrel, we must also be able to criticize our own party and see our flaws. So many lately that I've considered becoming an independent more than once.
I have one problem with the whole "source of news" credit placed on this show. I do enjoy this show, but at most it's an aggregate of news with commentary. There isn't any original reporting in this show, at least what I've seen to date. It's still important to support reliable news outlets.
+SirSalem yes your correct, and I hope with Defranco elite eventually he can hire actually journalist to go out into the field but he does pull from multiple news networks so that helps with the keeping unbias while still relying on bias media
I'm as progressive liberal as is possible to be, but I have always thought you were fair. I don't always agree with you, but I want to be challenged in my views. When I disagree with you, it forces me to look at my beliefs because I know you are fair.
I was a progressive leftist then I learned about the immorality of socialism and the failures of entitlements. If you are open minded I suggest you look up "Greed is Good" by Milton Friedman and really any work by Thomas Sowell. -Cheers
As a more conservative person who has a strong pro trump influence, I can't logically defend him anymore, there is nothing wrong with saying, "you guys are right, he's being an ass hole right now". But, Completely ignoring his constant shortcomings throughout this presidency doesn't make you anymore right. So own it and do better. The only way to make this country "Great Again" is to sit down and work together. By removing the garbage like Hillary and Trump, and standing together to make America a balanced COMMUNITY. In conclusion if people are genuinely mad at Phil for saying trump is an ass hole, they are flat out wrong.
It's so refreshing to be able to watch someone who is moderate in their thinking and has rational arguments for their opinions. I agree with you on everything Phil!
Nothing new here. I remember my own personal experience with a journalist when 4 of us were on the picket line during a strike back in the 1970's. He got surrounding members of the community to group in with us for a total of about 25 people and had us bunch together for a close-up that made us look like a huge group. At the time I thought it was clever, but now realize how wrong I was to be part of it.
I've been watching Phil for years and have never commented before today. Phil, I don't think you should always have to justify yourself for having an opinion. I know we live in a time where people get offended for everything. I've been noticing this for a few weeks now, and every time you express your opinion on a somewhat touchy subject you seem to justify yourself by bringing out previous stories where you defended the other side. Anyways, don't think you have to justify yourself by now, the fans of the PDS like you because of your honesty and truthfulness. Keep on changing the game Phil!
SimLatty I love Phil's content but I think he should defend his point. Phil's way of reporting the whole story and then clarifying his opinion is what makes his show so great. If he just shares his opinion it can come off as biased
i'm a somewhat liberal person, but I have never believed you have been unfair to either side because you back your claims with facts!! what a crazy concept!
This is exactly why I watch every single one of your videos. because you strive for this moderate stand point. moreover, you provide the facts and context before your opinion, letting the viewer weight the facts and determine their own view. thank you for continuing to provide such an invaluable source of news.
Long time watcher/subscriber (on the order of 5+ years), though I think this might be the first time I make a comment. I do my best (like you) to consider alternative view points and angles to situations regardless of whether or not I agree with them. The main reason I do so is so that (hopefully) common sense may prevail. I can't remember a single situation in the entirety of my viewership of your channel (short of being duped by a hoax or other extremely convincing fake information) where I could have legitimately argued that you willfully or ignorantly misrepresented facts to your viewers for the purpose of pushing an agenda. As a mid-20s skeptical male who clings to and hopes for common sense, decency and an unmolested presentation of current events in the US and abroad, thank you and thanks to all of your team (past and present) for the work you guys do to work towards those goals.
Just remember not to mix up facts with opinions and that his reporting like all other is not representative of how much of what is happening in the world. Because it's practicaly impossible or very hard to accomplice. Though criticaly important, ISIS is a small part of what is happening in the world right now. But it takes up a huge portion of media coverage.
I feel like the Mayor of London is showing respect, maturity and real concern, and Trump is reacting like he's angry that the attention isn't on him. Can't believe I have to say "maturity" when describing a political figure, it should be a given.
Dominique Noël It is the same mayor who said terrorism was "just part of living in a big city".When it comes to politics, you are obviously the basic bitch. Terrorism is not the new normal if we don't let it be. Too many people afraid of saying the truth. Pathetic.
I love the way you present news stories by being fair and unbiased. I tend to go watch your videos after a major news story in order to get both sides and insight I may not have thought about.
I've always admired you, Phil, for putting up with so much crap and still giving a fair standpoint. It says a lot when you finally break and tell Trump off. And what I mean is, Trump has just pushed and pushed and pushed and so many of us are just DONE. Great video, dude.
Can i take a moment to give credit to the Met police they were on the scene and had shot the three attackers in 8 minutes of the first call, that's pretty impressive.
I may be a bleeding heart liberal/Bernie Bro but I will always get my news from a reliable source like you. I don't have the money to pay for Defranco elite, but I can't wait for it to launch.
Things like this are why I stick with Phil. I've watched for slightly over a year, and not once have I questioned whether or not he is pushing a bias for views or shock factor.
Phil after watching for about a year now, I personally feel that your show cover the news in the best way. Fact, Opinions, and Response. I feel that what ever bias you have is out there and in the open cause you clarify on it. CNN needs to report the news raw and truthfully instead of pandering it out to us. Trump needs to figure out how to filter what he's going to say and how he's going to say it. Those tweets were disgusting and horrible.
Just want to throw this out there for people in the comment section who somehow identify themselves as one party or another, just remember nobody knows what is going on in this country but like a handful of people. Major media stations are just marketing their agenda to certain target markets, and the best way to do that is for people to take pride in calling themselves "liberals" or "conservatives", but really most just blindly vote on candidates based on what party they claim, but not the individuals themselves. Shouldn't we all be more like Phil and look at what each person stands for and judge each action they make separately and without bias.
Well...He does NEED to STOP thinking aloud, That'll kill ya every time. He has to wise up and go from "Celeb" mode to "President " mode. Or LEARN how to anyways. AMERICA 1ST...!
A politician who wants to converse directly with the public and people complain. I guess you want to go back to the 20th century way and just have the media be the middle men between the public and the government who push the agenda of society?
It was just an observation. Mr Trump was NOT molded as a political figure like the rest of the prior Presidents, he still hasn't figured HOW Washington really works. That place will make the BEST people bow down to it's POWER eventually. (They ALL HAVE TO or get wasted AND burnt out in the process.)
I really can't bend my mind around why Donald Trump brought up the "gun debate" card, firstly you wouldnt have the debate after this attack in America as this didnt happen on American soil and there is no need for one here in the UK as we have STRICT gun laws which is the reason the attackers used knifes.
Strict laws will not stop criminals from doing anything. The truth is more likely they just don't have the money nor the arms dealer willing to deal to them luckily. Remember the 2015 Paris attack strict laws did not stop them form getting there hands on firearms.
Thanks for always bringing these topics to the table, Phil! I'm not very "news-savy" and I'm aware anyone can just google anything they want but thank you for being real and not beating around the bush. Keeping all the people affected by these recent events in my thoughts and thankful for those who took a stand and did their best to protect everyone
To me news is a lot like diamonds. In it's natural form it can be ugly, but it's real. Media tends to take that raw diamond and refine it to make it more appealing to the public. A refined diamond isn't necessarily bad, but you have to be aware of what it is. As a member of the public you have to know that what you are getting isn't always in its natural form, most of the time it has been polished. Finding them before they have been refined can be difficult, but thanks to the internet it has become a lot easier. Thanks Phil!
A jeweler doesn't pass off to you the perfect cut diamond on their rings as being found naturally that way. These news stations do try to pass of that their staged sets are naturally found that way.
Mosteel88 I completely agree with you that the media shouldn't try to pass this off as the natural situation, but when viewing news from any media you have to know, they cut their diamonds in many ways. It all has it's own bias and we rarely see the raw version.
Very few people actually want texture, and what many want is shiny- outrage, soundbites, clips, and quips they can regurgitate so to inform the uninformed how informed they are. But the bulk of people are too busy or too apathetic to spend any significant amount of time looking deeper than headlines.
The idea that Trump is still able still able to aimlessly use Twitter while being one of the most powerful leaders in the world is astounding to me. I get the First Amendment, but to have a source for unfiltered thoughts to the world is just reckless. You have a press secretary and other assistants and advisers for a reason: so you don't say anything stupid, which is what he's been doing since day one he jumped on Twitter. For our country's sake, and the world, get this man off Twitter.
You pretty much nailed it with the fake news story. My father was a camera man for 35 years for news stations in Boston and Buffalo and I know for a fact that staging shots like this has been common practice for decades.. I also understand where the younger audience is coming from in their distaste for polished news like this, I personally refuse to watch the main networks for my news. The main reason Im commenting is that I happen to be in London right now and spent several hours by London Bridge yesterday morning after the attack. I cant speak for the greater practice of staging shots for the best lighting/picture/whatever, but in this case at least, CNN definitely didnt distort the story. I saw dozens of large groups of Muslims coming out independently to stand in solidarity with the rest of their fellow Londoners. Everyone here, even tourists like myself, are feeling helpless and angry. Lets not forget that while the shot itself may have been "fake", the story and the hurt it was talking about was not.
Thank you for your honest coverage of these trying situations. By presenting a fair and balanced version of the news that holds all accountable, you make it easier to form opinions and really understand the nuances. good on ya
I am the biggest Trump supporter Phil, and I don't hate you for your opinion. I value your opinion. I would never stop watching your videos because your opinion of President Trump differs from mine. Keep up the great work.
Good for you. One of the reasons I come to your show is that you are fair, which is something we need more. I tend to not care for Trump, but I also appreciate that you will defend him if the media is unfairly representing him. So keep doing you - I'm still watching and supporting!
It blows my mind that some people really do use Trump as their primary news source. Regardless of political leanings, USE MULTIPLE SOURCES. Look at news from the left, the right, from outer space if you can find it. Do not let your biases become an echo chamber of similar voices saying similar things.
A Bald Jew I personally watch many right wing channels in the skeptic community, I don't subscribe because I disagree with them and do not wish to be counted as a supporter of their content.
U forgot to mention the part where the reporter herself tells them where to move. U can see her moving her harms to the right while talking to the "Protesters"...
In regards to CNN. I believe that CNN was creating a frame and that's not where I have an issue, my issue was the way the reporter worded her statement. She should have bluntly stated that these people were taken away from the real protest for better visuals and audio. People don't know what to believe from formal media outlets anymore and we need to repair it. It will be a slow process but everyone just needs to own up, not just CNN.
You know Phil is heated when the jump cuts are abrupt and frequent. It's episodes like this that keep me coming back. Passion for the facts is what we need in this world. Thank you for all that you and your team do to make sure the facts are at least out there for the masses.
You are the most reliable source of information I have found in a nice video format that is super accessible and efficient. I dont need to spend hours on mutliple sites and medias to try and get a rounded view. Praise.
In regards to the CNN story, I myself am an aspiring journalist. I go to one of the best journalism schools in the country., the Cronkite school of journalism. They teach that staging is bad. It's not natural. The problem is, is that the police are controlling the protest and because the organizations need media attention and the media need the story, they will do whatever it takes to get the footage. Personally I would only use that footage as a last resort. In my opinion it goes against the standards set forth by the society of professional journalism and the associated press stylebook. It's like going to an accident, getting sound from the accident, driving back home, uploading it realizing it stinks so you just go outside and get sound from the street of cars going by. It's not authentic and it's different scenarios. In the same sense the protesters moving into a good area to get media attention is not the same as the media getting the natural occurrence of the protest. Ultimately this is because the police have to maintain order.
Honestly, I think the issue is CNN being 24/7. They milk stories until their audience thinks it's the end of the world. Their news might not be false but it surely is way too drawn out.
I am usually a fan of trump, as I personally tend to lean more conservative, but this was just unacceptable. People are supposed to look up to the president, use him/her as an example, and yet he tweets and rants on a small quote pulled right from context, when he has barely acknowledged the attacks at all other than saying "we are with you London." Personally, that just angers me.
As soon as they edit the footage, it's influenced by biases, and I can't trust their ability to mitigate it - and that's even if I can trust they' don't have bad intentions and willing to push their own agendas. Which I also don't. And that's even if we're assuming interests are simply financial, and not political. And even then capitalism has done journalism no favours.
As a British person (who admittedly lives in the north and away from the attacks), between Manchester and London I still don't see our country divided or "reeling". Yes we're angry and grieving, but don't confuse that with defeated. The video of the man carrying his pint out of the attack or the man who went back to pay his restaurant bill on Sunday morning is what Britain is really like right now. We won't let this stop us, we won't let this divide us. Hell, people still turned out to fill the One Love concert the day after the London Bridge attack. People like trump who are using this to incite hatred or their own agenda moments after the attack are the worst and I hope Donald gets slated for doing so by the american public, god knows he's being so here.
I've been watching you for 10 years now, Phil. Since you had the cheesy "Sxephil, he's not not sexy. Sexy Phil he's S-X-E." intros. You've earned my trust. :)
When it comes to your opinions I appreciate your honesty. I try to have a mindset like you were I look at everything and have a lot of respect for you sir.
"I hate it when people debate online...and what's more annoying than the debate itself is the fact that the people think their opinions matter, on the internet." -Filthy Frank
Now I'm a conservative republican and I Trump had my support, but come on he is making it so hard to try to defend him. Those tweets were just stupid and unnecessary.
yasalty fam I would like to have a conversation over a drink with you, because we would probably disagree (me as a fairly liberal democrat) but I also feel we would have an interesting and insightful conversation.
Conservative Christian 696969 when you have people killing others because they don't accept their religion, and attack that just happened, yeah, thats more important than a tweet. Priorities
Philip I've been watching you since your very early days. And today I thank you for being fair and reasonable. You're a great source of honest reporting. And a really smart and good person. Thank you.
This will be a....very interesting comment section today. Love you, good luck, and I'll see you on the other side.
Philip DeFranco weren't the protesters also seen in other CNN photoshoots though?
Well Philip I'm asking myself, how come the "Remove Wrestling from "Offensive Content" List!" petition, the WCPW situation with YT or wrestling content as a whole on this site wasn't mentioned?
Nice phil!
Saddened.
You are seriously becoming a more and more important source of sanity in this world.
"sexy ass nigga"......I died 😂
Styles P'yall haven't seen yet, can't wait
I think rompers are hideous, but that almost sells it.
Styles P'yall ahah right!!!!! "Let me take a picture with this man in the romper" ahah liiiit
Yoooo lmfao i cant breathe I'm still laughing. that was gold
lmao same
Phil, I have been watching you since I was in high school.
Jessica McAllister -- Very well said! Totally agree
Thank you! :)
Also, someone commented earlier and said "'since high school' you mean like a week ago? judging by your avatar photo" I AM 23 so thank you for the compliment :3
Fox ain't that bad tho.

Theres a reason i only get news from you and some newspaper sources. You are an outlet that is so far unbiased and un corrupted, and i hope you stay that way.
PeytonYoung I've been on a years long journey in the comments to find a genuinely nice remark. Thanks for this
St Jraf you said what I always thought I would if I ever found it... kudos
PeytonYoung You know he doesn't write the news stories or reports them. He finds sources and regurgitates them adding his own opinion.
Phil is far from unbiased, he does however make sure to state when his bias is affecting what he's saying.
GreyCloud I couldn't have said it better myself!! ☺
My Man fought off three Terrorists with just a Baton after getting stabbed in the face!? Give this BAMF a Goddamn Medal and free Burgers for life!!
Furuichi Dono just give him a gun problem solved
He was a park guard, not a policeman, 99.9% of the time he doesn't need a gun and there are more times it could be abused than the .1%
thats 100% besides the point and if the terrorists who are more than willing to hurt innocent people easier access to a gun, they would of definitely killed the guy
@Paloma We dont need guns in Europe, keep them in 'Murica please, you can have them.
Sincerely,
European who doesn't want someone shooting up his school.
You're telling me, you would rather them not have a gun when they need it, just because you won't need it most the time.
Holy christ, what a sheep mentality.
"It was such a powerful movement Piers Morgan stopped being a dick for a second."
Damn, that's powerful.
And that's why we get our news from Philip Defranco
Sexy ass nigga
Doctor Robotnik sxe*
Not really news yet, more like commentary
You and Tim Pool actually give real news. There needs to be more people.
Anna Jones news (n.)- newly received or noteworthy information, especially about recent or important events.
it's new to me so yes it is indeed news
I've learned to take EVERYTHING I see on the news with a grain of salt...shits ridiculous
Shelby Batten just one grain?
Ok, maybe many MANY grains lol
Shelby Batten Your making out that this is a new thing, but pretty much every media and news outlet has had an agenda since the start of news
The news is like eggs, It's better if you take it with salt. Perhaps a bit of pepper too. Maybe we could use pepper to make all the newscasters sneeze uncontrollably.
I'LL NEVER LEAVE AND YOU CAN'T MAKE ME
daltonboy7154 yea!!!
THANK YOU, for being a true moderate, and never letting your political leanings get in the way of being fair, Phil.
He no longer is moderate. He is left leaning now.
Thanks to the youtubers like you Philip. Now I don't watch TV anymore, especially news.
Keep on doing you Philip! The nation is behind you.
William Weaver not everybody!
Bob Pickleson why?
We need more people that are able to stand in the middle and see things clearly. Just like you Philip, thank you.
On the news this morning (in England) there was a debate as to whether or not all police in the U.K. should carry guns!
Of course they should, that situation would have been over so much quicker
Pretty funny! They consider arming police before they are willing to talk about why they need to arm police. When that fails will they allow citizens to arm themselves before they address the real problem?
they should not. I don't know who i trust least, islamic extremists or the cops. they both have the same boss anyway.
You know what. I am having a fantastic Monday ^_^
Cinnamon This made me smile, good for you!!
Cinnamon I'm not I just stubbed my toe when I was juggling chainsaws that were on fire.
hate when that happens...
You're a real brave man Phil for saying "I aim to hold people accountable when they are in the wrong", and Donald Trump wasn't spared. Nice one Phil!
and tons of trump supporters high in Covfefe will unsubscribe :D
Creative North It's just so damn right for an intelligent man like Phil DeFranco to criticize a pea-brained president quoting people out of context.
Knowing how shallow that president is, I wouldn't be surprised if he tweets later bashing Phil! hahaha
Honestly, more cops in the streets is really alarming, because it's an indication that the authorities are on a heightened alert, due to threats of terroristic attacks. I don''t think it;s out of context, because the context supports the quoted part.
But please don't get me wrong, I'm not pleased that you criticized President Trump, but I just admire your courage for doing so, whoever he is.
Phil is literally the only news source I trust
emma elizabeth I still advice to not have one source of information no matter the person
bram poel just cause she trusts it doesn't mean she dose not look at other sources. Dunno bout you, but that is me.
Suspect69 :D yeah maybe I interpreted it wrong
Anger, fear, aggression; the dark side of the Force are they...
Emily Lavis I find this attitude a bit passive. To just carry on is not good enough.
I like your attitude Emily, keep on carrying on! =)
LOL! You idiots get what you deserve. You will have no choice but to get used to life in Baghdad... I mean "London"

Phil isn't an apologist. He's a call-people-out-on-their-shit-ist.
Andy Plays All Night Phil is the human incarnation of the Golden Mean Fallacy
Why can't we just honor the dead and the heroes and shame terrorists instead of blaming each other and politicizing an event to fit a certain agenda
Ryaka Because people are fucked up.
because everything in america is capitalist orientated and only money matters
Ryaka crazy that the most rational and thoughtful comment I've seen has came from someone with a dog wearing sunglasses as their profile pic. BIG UPP
while true (that people are "fucked" up) It goes deeper.
Keep it up! It's refreshing.
agreed
I prefer fake news.
The best news is news from multiple sources and from multiple countries. American news is commentary and emotional arguments
Jay H I find the BBC to be the most impartial, Sky News is also pretty good
Jay H
Lol, other countries also have what you would call "commentary and emotional arguments."
Alongside with the news of course but American news outlets also deliver on substance too.
Jack Lovejoy bbc nhk r my shit. Sadly i dont get sky TV. Outside Washington DC. Used to get south Korean news too which i enjoyed.
Axel The Creator ehhhhhh not as bad as the US. Nhk has almost none same with bbc. Hence multi source bit
Jay H
Don't get me wrong, I too toon into international news outlets like bbc, Airiang News, Aljazeera etc...
In regards to the London terrorist attack, I just want to know who the guy who lobbed a table was. That guy represents Britain almost perfectly.
samaraiboy Just like that guy who was walking away with a drink, while everyone else ran past
samaraiboy this is why we love your nation and our city
"Polish is fake, texture is truth". I like that.
Weird how that wasn't the case when they inflated the size by taking closeups for the stills.
I second what you just said and feel the same way.
left wing in 2017 LOL
I'm as progressive liberal as is possible to be, but I have always thought you were fair. I don't always agree with you, but I want to be challenged in my views. When I disagree with you, it forces me to look at my beliefs because I know you are fair.
Bobby Jones beautifully said
You really think Bernie is gonna be alive in 2020? lol
Bobby Jones I'm the same way. 💙
I was a progressive leftist then I learned about the immorality of socialism and the failures of entitlements. If you are open minded I suggest you look up "Greed is Good" by Milton Friedman and really any work by Thomas Sowell. -Cheers
Same here, and I'm a "right-wing" libertarian.
Maddy Baker Do you agree with Phil on not always agreeing with Phil?
SimLatty well said.
Imaan Sheikh GASP
WTF are facts, SOUNDS LIKE FAKE NEWS TO ME
Dear RUclips: Stop removing Philip Defranco vids from my sub box while I'm subscribed
And stop unsubbing me
This is exactly why I watch every single one of your videos. because you strive for this moderate stand point. moreover, you provide the facts and context before your opinion, letting the viewer weight the facts and determine their own view. thank you for continuing to provide such an invaluable source of news.
At this point, I only trust Philip with providing me real news
youcantignoremygirth N O P E
It's healthy to question everyone, even someone you trust like Phil.
Reuters and AP.
Probable the most neutral you'll get for news.

Pathetic.
Basic bitch? Really? What is this insult based on?
I love the way you present news stories by being fair and unbiased. I tend to go watch your videos after a major news story in order to get both sides and insight I may not have thought about.
"texture is reality" -DeFranco I love this
I've always admired you, Phil, for putting up with so much crap and still giving a fair standpoint.
Except that's not impressive at all. Maybe if baton man had a gun or a motherfucking taser more people wouldn't have died
It was firearms police that turned up and shot the terrorists...
Save some tin foil for the rest of us buddy.
Triple Parakeet Shoes yes cause with all the armed police in the US there has NEVER been a mass shooting or stabbing ......oh wait .... nvm .....
MrBizteck sooooooooo disrespectful! You should be ashamed! Game of Thrones Shame!
To quote the wisest green man in the galaxy far far away, "Fear leads to hate. Hate leads to pain. Pain leads to suffering."
I may be a bleeding heart liberal/Bernie Bro but I will always get my news from a reliable source like you. I don't have the money to pay for Defranco elite, but I can't wait for it to launch.
l2economics
Things like this are why I stick with Phil. I've watched for slightly over a year, and not once have I questioned whether or not he is pushing a bias for views or shock factor.
Phil after watching for about a year now, I personally feel that your show cover the news in the best way. Fact, Opinions, and Response. I feel that what ever bias you have is out there and in the open cause you clarify on it. CNN needs to report the news raw and truthfully instead of pandering it out to us. Trump needs to figure out how to filter what he's going to say and how he's going to say it. Those tweets were disgusting and horrible.
Fallen Liam I
Fallen Liam way to much liberal bitching for most. He really needs at least 1 conservative in his crew.
any news I don't like is fake news
Philip, I love your mind. Thank you for doing what you do!
I appreciate your balance in coverage despite your personal opinions, Phil. Keep doing what you're doing!
Bryce Fletcher that's literally me.
Yeah...He needs to STOP Tweeting.
No, let him tweet more, he is digging his own grave one tweet at a time.
When has Trump done that? Converse directly with the public?
It was just an observation. Mr Trump was NOT molded as a political figure like the rest of the prior Presidents, he still hasn't figured HOW Washington really works. That place will make the BEST people bow down to it's POWER eventually. (They ALL HAVE TO or get wasted AND burnt out in the process.)
Stay moderate, that's why I subscribed and why I consider this my favorite channel to hear news like this. Thank You Phil...
SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHERE TO GET THOSE FLOOR LAMPS BEHIND PHIL!!!
AzureSteel he said IKEA I think on a vlog episode.
AzureSteel i'd check the vlogs. i think they said ikea, but not certain.
They're like $225 each. Can't remember what brand they are but it was talked about in the vlog where they painted them I believe.
www.wayfair.com/California-Lighting-49-Column-Floor-Lamp-CLNG1033.html
Wayfair you got just what i need
texture is real, polish is fake
Yes, the country of Poland is not real. #SarcasmDetected
Neither is canada
I really can't bend my mind around why Donald Trump brought up the "gun
debate" card, firstly you wouldnt have the debate after this attack in
America as this didnt happen on American soil and there is no need for
one here in the UK as we have STRICT gun laws which is the reason the
attackers used knifes.
Very well-said and very much true!
Benton Robertson well put!
Spot on.
I agreed. Might want to edit "uniformed" gotta love how easy it is to typo.
Got it. Thanks.
Considering his press secretary is Sean Spicer, he's probably better off with Twitter. It's better to look foolish than inept
The fact that you're so sound minded and logical is why you're my favorite source of news and information. Keep doing what you do, Phil. :)
"The mayor of London is taking the situation seriously"... this was your best joke, Phil
Lets not forget that while the shot itself may have been "fake", the story and the hurt it was talking about was not.
waitinhere Thank you for pointing that out.
Thank you for your honest coverage of these trying situations. By presenting a fair and balanced version of the news that holds all accountable, you make it easier to form opinions and really understand the nuances. good on ya
I prefer news raw and unedited. Ideally via a 360 degree camera that was rolling from go.
I am the biggest Trump supporter Phil, and I don't hate you for your opinion. I value your opinion. I would never stop watching your videos because your opinion of President Trump differs from mine. Keep up the great work.
I honestly think you're the most trustworthy journalist right now.
ian shapiro Just wait into the money kicks in
Good for you.
Do not let your biases become an echo chamber of similar voices saying similar things.
here's another perspective for you: most people probably don't have enough time or care
A Bald Jew frickin-a dude I love you
A Bald Jew Its still good advice nonetheless.
A Bald Jew
As if RUclips subscriptions are the only sources
This Phil guy will be big on RUclips one day
Chris Akins I really don't see the channel taking off to be honest
I share the sentiment you mentioned today about trump. This is by far the most exhausting presidency I've ever experienced.
I think the concert was great.
In times of terror remembering our humanity is important.
Because once humans lose their humanity what is left?
The most deadly monsters this planet has ever seen.
Lindsay Yeatts meanwhile muslims plan theyre next attack
spite filled lungs People still need a moral boost. I do think europe should be harder on extremists/a certain percentage of muslims.
Noah Purdy Fact:. CNNs broadcast averages coverage of the topic on Trump 85%
I left a career in journalism because of exactly those sorts of compromises. Well done for calling it out.
"I hate it when people debate online...and what's more annoying than the debate itself is the fact that the people think their opinions matter, on the internet." -Filthy Frank
at least for one person (if it's a debate), they do
Now I'm a conservative republican and I Trump had my support, but come on he is making it so hard to try to defend him. Those tweets were just stupid and unnecessary.
yasalty fam I would like to have a conversation over a drink with you, because we would probably disagree (me as a fairly liberal democrat) but I also feel we would have an interesting and insightful conversation.
People more concerned about a tweet than the actual attack..... I don't wanna live on this planet anymore
Easier2Hax When you have an unstable pathological liar in the White House with access to the launch codes that's something to be concerned about.
"When you have an unstable pathological liar" Putin farted in my face when I was sleeping HELP ME HILLARY!!
Conservative Christian 696969 t
Conservative Christian 696969 when you have people killing others because they don't accept their religion, and attack that just happened, yeah, thats more important than a tweet. Priorities
Mike H I'm not saying it's more important but both stories should be discussed.
Philip I've been watching you since your very early days. And today I thank you for being fair and reasonable. You're a great source of honest reporting. And a really smart and good person. Thank you.
" they move them into the best possible shot then showcase it " also known as staging lol
TheMayko It's a part of TV shots, they're not just gonna wave a camera around and hope for a good shot, of course they set them up.
