I can't wait to see what they do with the Video Demonstration portion of this. Thank you for creating these videos to let us see what is coming. Looks great, very clean.

    Hey Paul...thanks for this (as usual) excellent video. Your insights into Captivate (old and new) are always appreciated. I have been in contact with the Captivate team regarding this release with the question of when Firefly will be added to Captivate. I have been using Firefly (generative AI) in Photoshop CC (Beta) and am totally blown away by it. I think once it is added to Captivate it will be a game-changer. Again, thanks for your excellent video. I'm looking forward to attending any seminars you may be presenting at the Adobe Learning Summit 2023.

    Thank you for this presentation. It looks very good. Do you know if the other project options will be available in the future? This is an update for responsive design but I'm not using it today. What do you think, is it better to develop new projects in responsive design or can we wait for the new Captivate for other project (not responsive, virtual reality, and many others) as well? Thanks for your videos.

    • @CaptivateTeacher
      @CaptivateTeacher  Год назад +2

      Adobe goal is feature parity so I think all capabilities will eventually be there. I don’t know if they’ll support non responsive projects. Good question though. If this model of responsive design proves successful, I don’t see any reason not to design with responsive in the future. If it truly takes no extra effort.

    Good day Paul, thank you for your great videos. I am new to Adobe. Just want to ask you, Adobe Activate software is used to create you course / content. I saw there is Adobe Learning Manager, is this to put the course together or I am understanding it incorrectly?

    • @CaptivateTeacher
      @CaptivateTeacher  9 месяцев назад +1

      Adobe Captivate is the authoring tool where you design your eLearning course. Adobe Learning Manager is a Learning Management System or LMS for short that looks after housing your published eLearning courses and manages reporting and record keeping for these courses.

    Hello Paul, when will it be possible with the new Captivate to place objects (graphics, images...) on top of each other = on different layers? This is a very important feature for my courses, also because I can then animate these objects individually. What does Adobe say about this? Thanks in advance for the answer, Joachim

    • @CaptivateTeacher
      @CaptivateTeacher  8 месяцев назад

      The reason for objects not overlapping is responsive design. If Adobe adds non responsive design, I'm sure this will be something we can do in the future. Make sure you offer your feedback to Adobe through the Help dropdown menu.

    First, @CaptivateTeacher, thank you for this quick overview - perfect duration.
    Similar to @juliaweathers6735, I use Video Demos. It seems to me that you could just use a video component to perhaps demonstrate, followed by SW simulation?
    I've been long waiting for Cp to implement checkpoints/triggers - I've had to use lots of customer JS for this. I keep certain sections locked until previous components are completed. Will we be seeing those features?
    Also, can video components be set to require completion (e.g. >90% complete) before moving on?
    Hope to hear back, and I'll be downloading Cp12 soon.

    • @CaptivateTeacher
      @CaptivateTeacher  Год назад

      I do this all the time through custom solutions with variables and advanced actions. It's too early for me to fully flesh out this solution in Cp12 but my early understanding suggests that you can still store values in variables if sections have been complete or not. As far as the future is concerned, I only know that Adobe intends to achieve feature parity at some point between Cp11 and Cp12 within the next few years. If you could do it with Classic then at some point a similar method will exit in new. Remember, when it comes right down to it I'm just a user like everyone else. Adobe doesn't share a detailed roadmap with me.

      my advice is to either use one of the 70 Google fonts listed in the font list or use a web safe font like Arial, Verdana, Trebuchet MS, Tahoma, etc. If you select one of the Google fonts, Captivate will inject code in your published project to render those fonts correctly. The concept with web safe fonts is that almost everyone has these fonts on their systems so they are safe to use.

    I have been looking for a way to adjust the format and size of images on my slides. Apparently, it is not possible to determine any individual format. Or am I just not able to find it? The only choices available seem to be a number of predetermined formats included in the so-called design options. Once you choose a design option, any image you insert will have to adapt to the given format, as shown in the video. Is that right? Or am I missing something?

      You could use video (what used to be called Event Video) instead of slide video. This way you give controls to start the video by the learner themselves. I'm not sure what you are using for animations but if you could set them up to not play until the learner clicks on them that would also work. Alternatively this could be a natural place to start a new scrolling slide if necessary.

      I think you might need to rethink your approach. Having a scrolling page and having things happen lower on that page may not work for all learners. You could delay these actions but every learner will take their own time in going through the learning. I think if you are going to animate something, I would put that at the start of a new slide.

    HI Paul, Can you show the publish settings and how to publish for video.

    • @CaptivateTeacher
      @CaptivateTeacher  9 месяцев назад

      In the new Adobe Captivate, there is no publishing for video. This is because projects are responsive in design and rearrange themselves for the size screen you might be viewing them on. Video is a fixed aspect ratio, so these projects are not compatible with being just a video. If Adobe expands Captivate 12 to include traditional slide design, they may introduce this in the future. I would suggest using Adobe Captivate Classic if you plan to publish a video.

Now, I am not able to use any of them. Adobe should just have added this app. to 2019 version and slowly combine the two in the future. I am not going to support this product and it breaks my heart because I liked working with the classic. Articulate is not one of my favorite tool, but I have to use it. I don't believe it was intentional to stop people from opening old projects in the new. Captivate 12 needed to be an entirely new code set. Adobe Captivate 2019 (classic) was based on a code set that still included Shockwave Flash technology. It really is an entirely new application. Perhaps not opening a classic file will be available. However, I know that they are looking into having some way to import content from old Captivate projects. It's also why they have continued to support and make available Adobe Captivate Classic with the All-New Adobe Captivate for the one price.

      It has changed considerably. To initiate what is now called an interaction you can select either a slide or an object on your slide and click the index finger icon on the right-hand toolbar. You can then select the trigger and action. It's far less glanceable than the old interface but technically you can do more with things like event listeners. You no longer need variables o keep track of just about everything. For example a trigger can be if all the states of a multi state object have been viewed.

    Another question: I'm very confused by "conversation slides" in the new Captivate. This is something classic Captivate didn't have. I'm trying to make a conversation (with audio) that will play out on its own--without clicking to advance the conversation. But the architecture of the conversation slides seems to prevent that, with these "scenarios." The "scenarios" seem to be conversational turns--each with a speech card that contains the text, and which can have audio attached. But I can't get the cards and text to play out automatically--only the audio. (I'm attaching a separate audio file for each turn of the conversation.) Do I need to add interactions/triggers? And how does this work with "infinite scroll"? With infinite scroll, the audio of the conversation plays out, but if the user doesn't deliberately scroll, it just stays at the first "scenario" (or the first turn of the conversion), but the audio continues. I can't find any explanation for how to use these conversation slides on Adobe's site. Any help you might be able to provide would be greatly appreciated!

      Agree, my initial thoughts are oh no this is not what we need. I think they have been thinking way to much in terms of ordinary webdesign. The classic builder was fantastic for building any kind of learning slide or interaction. To be able to work with the new version the scriptwriter needs to think in a very constricted manner and then produce something quite generic that will look a lot like Rise 360 in the end. I'm not saying 360 doesn't look great but it often feels generic ( like a wordpress template ) and has a limited range of tools to engage the learner. I believe that scrolling of a desktop version of an e-learning course should be avoided and to me it looks like the main bulk of pages I would want to build will not be possible to attain in this version :(
