    Thanks for sharing! I just started organic gardening and have run into a root maggot problem. I just applied my nematodes today following your instructions and am excited to see how it turns out!

    This is so awesome to learn about! The poison that my stepdad was spraying to kill mole crickets was killing everything, including a beautiful praying mantis :( I told him i could find a way to exterminate the mole crickets that was natural and he insisted there was no other way) Also, i would love to use this method on my veggie garden and shade garden. If he doesnt order any, I will and ill dispose of his mantis-killing poison! Thanks again-and thanks to the iNat app for providing the link to learn about nematodes via RUclips. ❤️✌🏻🤗🌈

    Thanks for this great information! I was wondering where you were to have tomatoes in January, so I checked your page and listened to your introductory video. Big change from Houston (in this video) to Pittsburgh now. Welcome to PA! :) I have successfully grown sweet potatoes in grow bags in my Philadelphia suburb garden the last couple years, but they were terribly pocked with round holes. I finally figured out that they are wireworms and that beneficial nematodes may stop them. Thanks for the video. I'll get the product you suggest. (The nematodes that kill wireworms are "sc." I don't remember the long name.) I hope the "good" little critters will take care of the "bad" little critters for me!

    This is definitely not talked about enough. My nematodes came in a few days ago. Purchased from the same company you mentioned. I'm applying them tomorrow. I've had an infestation with grubs. Ugh. Hate it. And, Oh Thank goodness they do not bother my buddy earthworms. Since gardening I will never be able to hook a worm on a line again. haha And, your veggies in your green stalk vertical tower look amazing. Great job. Beautiful tomatoes too. Happy Gardening.

    Great video. I'm looking at buying some nematodes soon. I've been treating with neem and the gnats and earwigs seem to think I'm joking with them. My question is how long should I wait before buying and applying the nematodes? Does Neem affect them? I'd hate to buy them and apply them just to have them die in the neem that I applied for the gnats.

      It all depends on where you live. If you live where it gets cold, wait until the spring. If you live in the South, by them now. You can apply need 2 weeks after nematodes have been implemented, but do not apply neem to the soil, only the leaves. Need is for leaves and nematodes go in soil.

      Jeff Bernhard thank you for your reply. I've converted our garage into a grow room specifically for growing over the winter, so the temp is controlled. Thanks again.

    your seedlings are suffering from heat/sunburn you have to gradually harden seedlings off, not just throw them out in a different environment. It takes a good 2 weeks of hardning off to have a happy plant .

    Great video as always Jeff !!! I think I understand the rationale behind not using chemical fertilizers for two weeks but would one be able to continue to use compost or worm casting tea as they are organic....I plan on testing your recommended product this weekend in my Eco indoor garden house that I have in my garage before using outside for the spring planting season...keep up the great work on the videos !!!

    Great video! I have a 12 foot by 9 foot garden plot. 7 rows sll kale and collards. Lots of flea beetles. This will be my first go with the beneficisl nematodes. Im concerned with water temperature. You mentioned luke warm. My garden hose is hooked up to a cold water tap. Could i do the small area using a watering can? I have 2 inch plants now...what if i get nematodes on the plant..is that a problem?

    Happy New Year! Jeff, I'm worried about having to treat my plants for something other than what the nematodes take care of, such as white fly(?). How can I treat for these things, and not do harm to the "todes"? Thanks!

    • @executivegardener
      @executivegardener  8 лет назад

      Just do not use chemicals on your plants an the nematodes should be fine,. Give them a few weeks to soak into the soil before applying other organic treatments.

    Do you still use this method? I am fighting every possible pest there is but when i spray, organic or pesticides, the problem seems to get worse not better. You mentioned they dont like freezing temps but do you know if they die off in extreme heat? Or long periods of rain? What should you do to keep them happy within your environment to keep them reproducing? (not sure if they reproduce or not) or are they something you should spray a set amount of times per year?

    No you can NOT open the package and store it in frig for 2 weeks . Once ipned you must use entire package right then and keep a second unopened package infrig for up to two weeks

    Hi Jeff,
    All my fruit tress are brown and have lost all leaves........with the last frost we had a few weeks back.
    Any idea if they will regrow again or have lost them altogether.
    I have a Fig Tree, Clementine, Pomegranate, lime and off course my precious Hibiscus......
    Thanks

      @executivegardener  7 лет назад

      Great question. All mine are brown too. I am going to wait it out and see what happens. The only one that I would say might be done is the Hibiscus.

    They might work in a controlled environment like a greenhouse. Might. I tried it this spring. Did not do a thing that I can see. I have more junebugs then last year. That means more grubs 🥴 I think it’s a waste of 💰. Of course they will tell you. If you don’t succeed try try try again. That means more money for them.

      +Jeff Bernhard (The Executive Gardener)
      exactly..
      I've used them in Pacific Northwest coastal.
      Thought about them here on the Gulf Coast, but there aren't as many gardeners here as out West.
      Looking forward to future videos, as I have earwigs and squash beetle and there just never seems to be enough neem applications for comfort. BT mixed with neem seems to hold the line, but doesn't push the perimeter forward.
      Thanks for your post, and Blessings & Abundance from another South Coast gardener.
