All these challenges this lady is talking about are also here with us in Kenya. I think it's New to her because after school she had not been exposed to such challenges. I'm a medical personnel who has witnessed how visitors to our patients behave. They even ask the cleaners what they will be doing if they don't step on the floor and make it dirty.
For the aged, even in our communities, the behavior is the same. Even herself when she will grow old she will behave the same or even worse. I think she cannot make at work even in Kenya for she cannot persevere.. From her story, she was getting tired every time because of laziness.
Yeye mwenyewe will humiliate her workers.

      @@mercyk2672. OK.
Look at your name though, a name loved by Africans, what does it say? Are you surprised, then that you loved that job?
I have never lived in the USA. I have visited Brooklyn. There are people from my childhood, former colleagues, former in-laws through a now deceased brother, and others meant to be flesh and blood. My Dad used to live in Miami. He died about 3 years now.
Neighbours, a family, who lived right next door moved to America, except the oldest offspring, the older of the two sons. The wife/mother died about two years ago. The photographer who lived opposite moved to there too but long before that family. Our mum used to hire him to take our photos. My mother's sister's younger of two daughters moved there when she was, maybe late teens or beginning of her twenties. Lots of things to which we paid no attention. A guy, a colleague of mine knew moved there. It turned out that our mum knew his mum and her sister when they were young and they used to go together dancing. That same colleague eventually immigrated there. Sometimes, it is a small world.
When I went to visit my cousin, my aunt's daughter I mentioned, above, it turned out she knew the cousin of the guy that my colleague knew. The cousin lived with his aunt- that guy and his family, which included their grandmother before he went to America.she was talking about her friend and the way she was being treated (badly) by a certain guy. The name of the guy, Wayne, I knew and he turned out to be the cousin of the guy that I knew through my colleague. Which meant my cousin also knew you that guy. She was also in touch with the photograher and he came round to get me. All of it was so surprising. And another surprise was that she was friend with one of my former school friends, Colleen. She also happened to be telling a story about how Colleen's husband was treating her. My cousin also knew a guy that has a son with a girl I knew at school. That girl did not immigrate to America but she worked at the family's bakery.
When my mum died, I had a phone call from America and it happened to be the colleague who was a friend of the guy whose mother knew my mother. What was surprising about it, is that she knew my mother. She said that after I left, she used to visit my mum. I also got another phone cal from Americal that related to my mum's death, from someone who used to always be at our house. She was an adult and we were still children and she lived just at the back of us. We could see her place from our yard. There was just enough space for walking through and that is the space that separated the properties. She told me she has a daughter. So I had new links with two people from my past, through my mother's death. I am linked up on Facebook with 4 former school friends who live in America.
I am glad that you appreciate the elderly. Coincidentally, on Tuesday, just gone, I was speaking to the guy fixing the front door. He happens to be from Uganda. I asked him if his parents are from Africa because of the way he addressed me, which is not and has never been a cultural thing here. But he was also born in Uganda, although one could never guess, that's why I asked about his parents. It is, though, where I was born and that's not Africa. So he said that children today don't respect. So, I said that children don't have grandparents around anymore. It is just the change in the infrastructure whereby the building of houses has been replaced by the building of apartment buildings- a social tragedy. The distance from grandparents who are today in care homes or live a vast distance away in their own homes, has removed that closeness to first and second generations, the oldest of family members who would have time for children since they were born. Who told the stories and about life in years past and were the ones through whom children built respect for the elderly. Our mum had a friend. She was not from our country but she lived there. We addressed her as "auntie Marie". Her name was Maria. She also moved to the country to which we moved and we just loved it when she came around. We just sat at her feet, all comfortable just to hear the stories. It was so good, I feel like a child right now. When she died we were so sad.
I've never had a problem getting close to the elderly. Their hair is so silky. You could snug up to them and feel so warm and safe.
Mercy, when I come across people like you, it makes my day. There is so much finger pointing, accusations, allegations, demeaning going on among the African RUclipsrs. So very sad when a means to get it together is there before Africans. Upload your videos to each other about your country within Africa. See what you have in common and the things you can admire. Learn each other's language, which makes for easier communication. Learn each other's kinds of food. That is a lot of learning that could be done and which also would be opportunities to put together videos for this platform, without having to worry and wonder what to record.
      Very refreshing writing to you.

Young people or rather our children think they will never age. Aging to sunset years is a blessing. Take care of the aged so that when your time comes someone will reciprocate. Thank God for each new day you wake up to, renembering you were born so msny that day.. Some little ones dint live even for an hour to enjoy that comforting situation of being breast fed. Also many dint see the end of that day, Others did not live for a week, year, a decate, etc. The fact that we are still living is a miracle and favour from God.

I think among the courses watu hufunzwa wakienda huko gulf, kuwe na hiyo course ya kuchunga wazee, na employers wa make sure they take the right people, trained for those jobs, and not just anybody.
Otherwise, thanks for sharing your story

This interview was very uncomfortable to watch, the arrogance, the selfishness, the choice of words, the facial expressions…., I hope the “Kaguka” family doesn’t get to see this. That was elder abuse, sick people should be treated with dignity. Thank you Mwangi for asking her to address her former client with respect

Am a nurse with 23 yrs experience and we've been doing this jobs to oldand teenagers and infants in kenya, in gulf countries, and am okey with my job and i do it with all my passion. Ive been in the same situation but we ignore them. Not only from old men but younger males but we never put in our minds, as long as we do wat took us there. Not even in gulf only but even in kenya from a man who had been working in gulf for years na nikakataa. When we refuse we also stop working for you to avoid being hurt or harm by those families
