Thank you!
Dang man, this series deserves all the views! Cant wait to see the finished product!
Thanks so much man!!
That's awsame! Being this year in Romania/Europe finally I've decided to change my roof tent for same overlanding home as you are doing. I'm watching it as perfect guide for my work. Thanks and congratulations!
Love to hear it! Best of luck!
The front of your camper looks like a great place to put a lightbar! I really like the design of the camper, I cannot wait to see the final reasult.
I have watched all of your videos building. I appreciate your attention to detail. Aluminum can be very temperamental, I like how you blended welding with rivets. Keep up the great work. Can’t wait to see the finished project.
Thank you so much! The rivets seemed to make sense. They were easy to add and also provided me with peace of mind!
John, I’m impressed. Lots of thought and work and look what you have. A nice camper for your rig. Can’t wait to see the finished product after the powder coat. Keep up the good workmanship. Hope the trip to Colorado was fun.
This is awesome! I cannot wait to see the final product. I reference your videos a lot when I am building my own things. Keep up the awesome work Amigo!
Appreciate it man!! Glad to hear you are building stuff! That’s what it’s all about!
Great to see you try the router technique for cutting out sheet sections. Glad it worked as well as it did!
Yes it worked fantastic!
Nice work! Camper is coming along nicely and great attention to detail as always. Thanks for sharing Sir
Thanks Jay! I’m excited to see how far it’s come myself. Almost on the truck now 👍🏼
Your skills are amazing. Can't wait to see more on this; esp the powder coat.
Thanks so much man! You can get regular updates on the camper Including seeing the powdercoat on my IG! I will be working on it all week after work and posting more updates

Love the build! The amount of thought manifesting through your hands.....damn impressive!
Great summary of the fabrication. Really amazing what you've accomplished. Bravo!
Thanks Mike! It’s been a long road!
What a fantastic build this is. Really enjoying watching the progress!!
Thank you Glenn! I’ve been putting my all into this one. Want to do it right the first time!
Amazing craftsmanship! Looks like a solid build, and really light.
Amazing work, I love your attention to detail. Great work on the rear door handle fabrication.
Thanks man! I try my best to be thorough on these videos. Hope it can inspire someone to build one as well!
Excited to see the final product!
You and me both! I post more frequent story updates on my instagram as well!

For the tire mount on the door I recommend getting some aluminum tubing, drill out the mounting bolt holes, and weld the tube in place to essentially sleeve the bolt holes. Makes them far stronger and should help prevent premature wear on the aluminum.
I considered that myself as well. Have done that on past projects. If the tire didn’t tighten up against the rest of the door I absolutely would. That being said I think it will fair just fine!
Yes. Removing the tailgate makes a better ergonomic for climbing in.
It would take some engineering, but wouldn't it be nice to have a full-height door off the back? They do it with tent trailers, with a door that comes in 2 sections that you put together after you raise the canvas. If you can eliminate having to duck down, you may or may not want the tailgate there.
Nice work. Welding aluminum is not the easiest thing to do.
Thank you for ma,ing this vedio. ❤
Coming along very nicely
Thanks so much man!
I keep checking back for the next part of the series. Dude it been 3 weeks. No pressure 😂
Editing it as fast as I can! Haha. If you keep up with my IG I post stories regularly on its progress!

I'm going to build one just like the one you made, for my 80s pickup
fantastic job
Thank you!
Not sure if it's been said, on the brackets that are riveted down, have you thought about using panel bond as well as the rivets? might help in the long run w/ structural rigidity over the years of vibration etc.
Great idea I will look into it!
Great looking build
Appreciate it!
Brilliant video! Very inspiring for my own build. Would you be willing to share/sell the latch system if possible? I'm looking for that exact design & your design is perfect! Thanks for sharing
You might consider looking at rev two of that door handle/lock and then just sell the parts unwelded or make them out of steel and weld them yourself and powder coat them. I may have missed why they were stainless.
Slick job on it, did you design in alignment tabs and holes for everything to easily fit and weld?
Stainless for corrosion resistance! I would not want to sell the door latches as the design is far to close to an established companies design. Not looking to rip anyone off.
Very Nice!
Thanks!
Whatcha think of interior locks on those pop out side walls. Prevent hooligans from opening it from the outside? Great video! Was wondering where all my over landing tubers have been.
Thankfully I don’t camp around any other people I don’t know so not a concern of mine, Primitive campsites only for us!
Rear door latch looks killer! How do you work it from the inside?
I will be adding another method on inside to close it!
I recommend fixing the three piece bed cap design...loose the stock plastic ones...seal up that truck bed ..cubbies...n front top corners have huge holes...
show, tks
I like the forward thinking about being able to open the side doors from the inside. Maybe I missed it, but is the rear door able to close/open from the inside?
I will cover that in a later video but yes it will have its own inside latch!
Curious how you found doing the stainless welding...did you use that Blue Demon flux core wire as well as gas ( a dual shield type setup) or stainless wire with the C25? I've been tempted to do some stainless welding but haven't had the chance yet and frankly didn't want to invest money and space in a bottle of trimix. Looks great though! well done!
I did not use flux core wire just stainless with C25! It has been the only thing in stainless I’ve ever welded so I’m thinking it will naturally progress as I learn it more haha
Bro! When are you headed to CO? I'm literally leaving CO to go on a trip out east and through VA. Was stationed out there about 6 months ago and my girl has some friends she wants to see but I've been following your stuff and would love to meet up if we can! I'm also a proud 2nd gen owner with a passion for overlanding.
We went at the beginning of the month! Some of the footage was taken prior! Going to be tuning Toyotas in Roanoke VA this Sunday.
@@Adv4x4 word. I’ll be in VA in about two weeks. If you’re around I’d love to swap rig tours if you’re down!
Great videos!! Do you have an idea of finish cost?
I will have a cost breakdown at the end!
What experience did you hace with welding aluminum?
Is the intension for this to be semi-permanent or will be on your truck full time? Or will you be taking this off at times?
It will be semi permanent! Do not plan to remove
Do you have a link to your back door hinges?
For the handle why not create something close to brass knuckles just for a grip
I absolutely could! Neat thing is the handle is removable so I can always design a cooler one later!
Do you think a 130A welder can do this job? Thanks for sharing.
Not 100% sure on that!
@adv4x4 I’m starting design on mine. How often do you use it or how useful are the windows/hatches in the hard sides? Are they worth making? What do you use them for?
Very useful for letting in fresh air or just giving the camper a wide open feeling.
I used the windows as a place I can route in a diesel heater tube as well.
No regrets at all on those additions! At very minimum I recommend the side hatch doors
Also for hoke plugs design and 3d print out of tpu if you don't own a printer grab a cheaper used one I make all kinds of things for my jeep and roof rack
3D printer is definitely one of those things I’ve been meaning to dabble in just have so much other stuff going on 😂
First.
Any chance you are willing to send or sell the files for the rear door latch? I have a camper and I HATE the hatch entry so I am hoping to build a back door like this and finding that latch has been a killer as you experienced so I would love to get those files if you're willing.
I’m interested as well.
Awesome work 🔥
Thanks so much! Also thanks for the inspiration on parts of the build!
@@Adv4x4 It's been really fun watching the process so far!
