- In this video we show you how we have changed the tired and worn out headlights on our E85 BMW Z4.
This is not an instructional guide of how you should do it, we are literally showing you how we done it and how we found the process.
If you are not confident doing car electrical work then always hand it over to a professional who will be able to complete the work safely and correctly.

Keep up the good work! I’m watching here in NC 🇺🇸 ❤
Awesome, thank you. 😊
Tnx for the help, this was very usefull! Greatings from 🇧🇪
You're very welcome. Thank you for watching. Please subscribe
Stellar job! Vey helpful video. New lights look beautiful. Inspired me to replace my own…✌️🤩
Thanks. They're brilliant. Well worth doing
Makes the car look new again. I need to replace the headlights on my 2015 Nissan Frontier for the same reasons. Canadian climate is hard on equipment and people at times. Love the channel hope it grows for you guys.
Hopefully the replacement goes well for you. Thank you. 😊 hope you keep subscribed
Overall great video - thank you for posting it!! Next time, show some of the actual installation/removal process - it would be super helpful.
Great video! Thanks for sharing!
You're welcome 😊
That’s really cool!
New headlights look great and really transform the car. I'm toying with the idea of replacing mine, only downside is the originals are mint, so no real reason to do it other than aesthetics...
Thank 😊 change them, sell your ones and you'll probably make a profit as the headlights are so expensive second hand
@@RevZolution true, only concern would be how the aftermarket items would age, compared to the genuine ones since they are half the price. They do look really good though.
i have facelift xenons from factory on my z4 but i have to admit the aftermarket halo lights do look soo awesome on yours. might even go for them if compatible with my wring and my xenons finally fail as they are £850 second hand ;_;
Ouch that's very expensive I need to rewire mine ASAP as water got in the connection and snapped a connection pin
This is one of the best video about z4 ever! However, you live in UK and I am here in United States. What year is your Z4?
Thank you 😊 it's a 2006 model
Good morning, as well as yours I have the "Dual Connector" setup. I noticed in your comments the actual manufacturer is not mentioned. I'm finding several varieties of headlights all over the internet but none with "Dual Connectors" Can the smaller connector be spliced into the remaining connector? Any info would be helpful. Ready to buy a new set, just can't find the dual connector setup.....
thanks again......
Great video ,and my very next upgrade also, Iv fitted angel eyes before to my mk4 golf so familiar with the process, My only question is assuming the halo rings are your DRLs so there on perminantly, what are they wired to exactly to be on always, Are the DRLs basically connected to the low beam headlight setting so need turning on manually? The angel eye headlights I fitted previously came with a separate wiring harness just for the LED rings direct to the battery so they came on as soon as the engine started, I'm just confused where your DRL are getting power from to come on automatically,
With mine, I've wired the halo lights in to the side lights so I can turn all the lights off when not needed and pop the slide lights on then the halos come on. I didn't want them on all the time.
Hey what’s the location
Looks really nice
Hey great video. Did you refit the lights with part 7 054 471 space holder in the metal sleeves in the side of the lights, or did your car not have them in there, it looked like yours were missing in the video. I'm trying to order them but I can't get them anywhere. I ordered from BMW Germany and something completely different turned up.
Erm. Seeing as I have no idea what you're talking about lol, I'll say i didn't have them 😅
Thanks for the video! Do you know if the bumper needs to come off in order to replace a fog light lens?
Yes you definitely need to take it off to access the fog lights
Good Job! Questions: So splice the 3 red wires into the white wire and the 3 black wires to black wire? Also, there is no connections or concern for the fog light? Thank YOU!
Tbh, I can't remember how we done it without watching the video again. The fog lights still operate separately as you have to be able to operate them separately
Hi, great video. Did you re-align the halos? I am fitting them now to my Z4 E85 3.0i but live in France so need to re-align to meet EU requirements.Any ideas or links would be very helpful.
I took it to my local garage to get the alignment done as I don't have clue where they needed to be. But yes they definitely needed alignment done. Thanks for watching. What part of France are you in
That look is simply brilliant! I love my 2003 but that relatively simple update is awesome. I have two questions: 1. does the front bumper HAVE to come off or did you already have it off for some other reason/repair? 2. I feel like my headlights have always been weak compared to other cars since I bought it (brand new)…Zenons were an option but pretty rare back then and cannot be retrofitted. Do these new lights seem brighter to you when driving at night or pretty much the same?
Thank you. The front bumper needs to come off as there's a few bolts hidden behind it. Its definitely brighter however, the state of the original headlights were so bad anything would have been better. I am however very happy with the result
It would gave been nice to see how you put everything together and was there an adjustment for the lights?
How’s come you don’t have fog lights?
My05 has some…
Hello from Canada
Hi, thanks for watching all the way over in Canada.
The car does have fog lights. What bit did you want to see me instal? The adjustment was done by my local garage to make sure they lined up with our road regulations so I didn't flim that part
I missed the actual brand /manufactor of the headlights. Indeed they look great!
They're from ebay, I just searched on ebay, BMW E85 ANGEL EYE HEADLIGHTS and they were about £400
Looks fab. Did the unites come with bulbs or did you use the old bulbs? I have ordered Sonar brand lights with halo (from Germany) for my E85 but they are bulb free so I am going with LED bulbs.
They came with high beam, indicators and side lights but no dipped beam so I had to change them for nice bright ones from my old bulbs
From what company did you buy? Looking for new black ones with fitment for xeneon
If I understood and saw correctly, the 3 red wires are connected to the white wire and the 3 black wires are connected to the black wire. I have a z4 too.
Thamk you
hello, may i know did it means the original headlight is Xneon, and replacement headlight is halogen ? thanks.
I had halogen lights originally
Brilliant video what make did you buy as price range is from 300/500
Thanks. I'm not sure what the make were..it was from an ebay seller "2xcite"
Ok have just got a 2005 3.0 headlights both gone indicators gone so gonna save my pennies and follow your leas
Lead
Are the headlights your using good? I know aftermarket is sometimes 50/50
They're very good, I've got no issues with these at all. I took them to my local garage to get the beam adjusted and its all good.
Hi I had angel eyes in my Z4 but they became full of water and want new ones. Where did you buy yours from? Xx
They're brilliant. I'm glad I got these. I got them from eBay. £380. But i think they're not £400. Well worth buying
@@RevZolution I’m not good with DIY. Can you do mine?😜😬
Hi, it's been a few months since you replaced the headlights. How are they holding up, would you still recommend?
They're still good. No issues with them yet.
@@RevZolution And are they correct to UK spec, would they / have they passed an MOT. I ask as I'm looking to buy some.
I have ordered 2 sets of headlight assemblies for my z4 and both were not correct. Where did you order yours from? Those are the ones I need. Thanks.
I got these from Ebay
@@RevZolution Do you have the specific type/model? I ordered from Ebay, wrong ones. Returned them and ordered from Amazon, also not the right ones. lol
@@KentSprotbery BMW Z4 E85 & E86 2003-2008 BLACK PROJECTOR LED HALO ANGEL EYE HEADLIGHTS E MARK
That's the name on the description for the ones I have
@@RevZolution That's it! Thank you. Your videos are wonderful. Keep up the good work, I'll be watching.
Hello Can you send me thé connections diagram for thé headlights especially thé red and black ones below thank you
I need to take the headlight out soon when I get a dry day so I'll look to take a picture
@@RevZolution that would bé nice thank you for you pardon 😊😉
Pard
I just did this, copying your wiring - BUT - the halogen in the centre doesn't work resulting in a near total dark night drive and a headlight warning light. Am I doing something wrong?
Have you put a bulb in? Mine didn't come with a bulb, can't remember which one but I had to place a bulb in
@@RevZolution Yes I've just read this lol. The main beam one was sitting redundant with the headlights on and then it clicked, yes, that's the main beam. Duh!! Typical me, didn't read the product description when purchasing. I wondered why it was so dull. Was replacing the bulb difficult? I've installed it so hopefully it won't be a headache. And thanks for your reply! Confidence restored!
@dobly58 no problem. I'm glad you got it sorted. It was nice and simple to do but I done it with the headlights out,. Just go through the wheel arch and you should be good to access it
@@RevZolution Legend! A million thanks!
Please where I can buying bmw z4 parts ?
I have purchased mine from eBay as they do a brilliant car parts section and also my local BMW dealerships parts department
Bonjour ça serait sympa si vous pouvez m'envoyer le schéma de branchement 😊
Why do you have to splice the black wires together?
The halo lights aren't wired to the loom therefore you need to wire them to a loom. We found the best way to do it was to wire it to the side lights. So when they come on the halo comes on as well. Therefore we needed to cut in to the ground wire for the side lights. Easiest option
Does it matter which light (power source) the halos are spliced into?
Did you pay £840 for these?… surely they’re cheaper elsewhere?… I’m thinking about changing mine
£380. But now they're £440. From ebay. Well worth the money
Ive got the same headlights,my Z4 failed its Mot because the beams aim is European setting
Hopefully mine will pass then🤦
Hey any update on this?
Iv previously brought angel eye/halo headlight units for my Mk4 golf. There were alot of LH drive only/ European options available on eBay. And universal ones being R/H & L/H drive' This being possible was due to a small directional lever on the high beam bulb surround inside the headlight ' lever up was R/H drive UK and obviously down was European. Passed two MOTs whilst installed.
Wow talk about a facelift. Sexy! Curious, is it bright enough at night? My oems are so dim, dull and do not shine far. Thx!
Hi, yes they're absolutely fine at night. They provide more light than the fogged out standard ones did. Well worth putting on the car
You should clean it first!!!
Well what a boring video that would be🤣thanks for watching and commenting. It all helps the algorithm 🤑
You realise you could have just polished your headlights and used a heat gun for the moisture? 😂
Yeah however i didn't like them because they're not angel eye headlights. Now I've got angel eyes. Looks so much better.
Ha,ha,ha !!!
What PC SHI……!!!!
Do explain or is that the end of your vocabulary 🤔
