You’re welcome! I hope it helps. Especially landing steelhead while fishing solo can be difficult, this is what works for me. 🎣

Cool! I’m on my 5th or 6th one. 2 are probably floating around in the Pacific Ocean and I’ve worn out a few. That’s not a bad problem to have though. 😁

Sold. Been having landing problems on solo trips with my 12ft float rod. This should extend my reach and make landing fish a breeze

Awesome. I’ve been using this system for years. If you watched the landing footage at the end, you’ll see how I choke up on the rod. I started doing that after I broke my 10 1/2’ float rod about 10 years ago.

You’re welcome! It took losing a few nets to come up with a better system.

I use an orvis retractor there mighty strong and work great on that net

That is a great system! I really need to get one, with my physical limitations it is important. Thanks for sharing!

It’s worked well for me! I’ve tweaked the system a few times. At one point I just clipped the net lanyard to my chest pack and threw it over my shoulder. That was the recipe for one of the lost nets when I thought I clipped it and forgot. 😁

    Great net…
Bought it for salmon season this year (cabelas had it) but i bought the narrower one.
Its the same big basket but a touch more slender profile and i thought this would be good when on my back. (Disappears more and narrower for bush walking)
    Did u see that model?

I have seen the narrow nets. This one works for me, but I see what you’re saying about the smaller profile on the narrow ones.

    You need a extension handle

This is wading net. I have a Beckman regular net if I’m fishing in my boat, but most of my fishing is bank fishing with a lot of bushwhacking. The smaller the profile the better. Yes it would always be nice to have a full size net, but that’s not practical for most of my steelhead fishing.

Is there a company that makes net extensions?
I was actually going to mickey mouse a bit of pvc to get another ft or so.. why the didnt make telescopic handle for this net was a shame..
Other than that its amazing due to weight… ultralight for cost.

I’ve run the exact same system for 4 years now. The first 3 years I never had an issue and then last year I lost my first net, ordered a new one and proceeded to lose that one the very next trip 😅. Still don’t know how that happened to this day. The first models seemed a little lighter than the new ones but they’re still the best nets for bank fishing and hiking around.
Pro tip: you can even use them to harvest those inferior slick backs 😁

Sounds like we’re even Justin! I’ve lost 2 and have worn out a few. One I let go as I was releasing a fish and right to the bottom it went. The other was before I used the magnetic release with leash; I used to just clip it to my chest pack and toss it over my shoulder. Well, one time I forgot to clip it. In the drink it went! I tried to snag it with my hook but no luck, there’s even an old unlisted video with this incident. And yes, great for corralling slick backs! 🎣

Well, it’s bigger than yours! 😁 I don’t know where you and John found those tiny nets!
